Keep writing, this is so beautiful. It’s clearly singable but also integrated with harmonic & rhythmic wealth. Not to mention a fabulous performance!

Thank you so much! I will, it is the passion of my life;) Meanwhile i am trying to post at least some of my old pieces, so more things (not only piano solo) are coming up this winter! Best, Nikita

Many thanks, Nikita, for making your performance of your Prelude Op 10 No 2 available on you website. I loved this piece which I found very beautiful, reminding me in parts of Chopin’s lyricism and in others, Liszt, particularly “Études d’exécution transcendante” during the central section. Of course this is first and foremost your composition, so I trust you do not mind my comments explaining how your piano music gave me a connection to other composers’ music. I realise that it takes much time and effort to put the scores on line. For doing that, and your playing, heartfelt thanks

Thank you very much for the warm words, David! Yes, what mostly takes the time is to type in the scores and make the audiofile listenable. I am glad that all my efforts weren't for nothing and there are people such as yourself who are enjoying this music.

Great work, as usual, feels like rachmaninoff
@nikitashestakov.22 күн бұрын
Thank you! Though, I personally feel that it has more of a french colour, and it sounds to me like a mix of Debussy and Rachmaninoff styles.

@nikitashestakov. well anyway, i enjoyed it BTW did u have a chance to hear my concerto? I sent it to you on the Gmail 😇

Hi Sagiv, Yes, I listened a little the first movement, seems like you are inspired a lot by baroque composers (thought of mostly Bach) and some romantic style composers. Well done! Unfortunately I am super busy till the end of January, but when I have a bit more time I will give a look to the other movements! All the best, Nikita

this is very wonderful and inspiring! as a composer starting to produce pieces months ago (quite recently), ill definitely refer to this as a guide to sound more impressionistic :D
@nikitashestakov.18 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! However, if you want a real impressionistic references, I would recommend to listen to the works of Debussy and Ravel (the first impressionistic piece - Jeux D'eau) and perhaps Faure and Frank, as a transition period from romantic era to the impressionism. My piece is not impressionist work, even though it has impressionist colours. It is a mix of styles, as I mentioned in description. All the best, and good luck in your composition journey! Nikita

@nikitashestakov. yea true, ravel is my fav composer in fact, though i haven't explored that much of faure yet so i probably need some start-up pieces hehe thank you so much for the tips though :)

I would recommend to listen to Faure's Ballade op. 19 (both solo and orchestraded versions), his Themé et variations op. 73 and his chamber pieces, both quintets and trio. It will give an overview of his compositional and stylistic development. Enjoy;)

Wow! A very nuanced and sublime composition. It feels grounded in late-Romantic aesthetic, yet features a very unique and original compositional voice. I especially like the harmonic choice at measure 81, which was unexpected yet very satisfying. Thanks for sharing your work!
@nikitashestakov.21 күн бұрын
Thank you William! Yes, from 81 onwards even though it was a simple F#maj7, I was searching for a voicing that gives the feeling of a large space or landscape. I suppose it's unexpected because the space density changes quite a lot.

Sublime! The synthesis of your more typical late Romantic gestures with washes of Impressionistic colour is well executed. Perhaps you find the comparisons to other composers a bit tiring, but the quieter passages remind me of the first movement of Svetlanov's Sonata no. 3, which is also very luminous

Wait was this an inspiration of Rach’s musical moment in b flat minor? If so that’s very beautiful to grab that inspiration and make something of your own! Gorgeous piece
@nikitashestakov.13 күн бұрын
Hi! No, it was not the inspiration:) The inspiration was the autumn atmosphere, belgian landscapes and French culture, in music -Debussy in particular. I actually tried to go further from my normal style which at that time sounded Rach-Scriabin like. The result is a sort of combination of my original styles and a reflection of impressionistic style. I gave a look to Rachmaninoff's musical moment again, and it is funny how the opening line in the upper voice of left hand is same, but the mood, setting and purpose of the pieces are so different. Nevertheless interesting observation, thank you for your comment and listening to my music. Best, Nikita
