Just came here to say that same orifice that you said gave you trouble was also my issue and hopefully someone else can benefit from this too if they have the same symptoms as me! I ended up working the crud out of the tiny orifice until I was able to touch my two cleaning wires inside so I know it was clear, and now my craftsman lt1000 hydrostatic lawn tractor runs great, which has this almost identical carb on it (I didn’t have as many orifices on that brass emulsion tube thingy). Before this my mower engine would “hunt” and almost like misfire every other second, and I wouldn’t be able to adjust my engine speed without it wanting to die out when I move the lever to a real low setting. It also wouldn’t sound smooth-running unless I find a sweet spot in the choke having it about halfway closed which was def not ideal. Thanks for the video!

9:29 - I can't thank you enough for including this bit on your video. You're absolutely right, NONE of the other videos showing cleaning/rebuilding specifically point out these inserts/jets being cleaned. I've been struggling with a surging problem with my riding mower for a few years and I've cleaned this carb 10+ times. Finally grabbed a thin wire and managed to break through some crud in that opening, fires right up without the choke now.

Thanks so much for posting this. I couldn't get a 21hp Briggs vtwin to run correctly. It has a similar carb, newer twins use a different carb. I changed the head gaskets, adjusted valves and changed valve cover gaskets, cleaned the carb like everyone else showed and changed the gasket and needle. I found a small enough wire in a twist tie and was able to clean out the deep orfices described here. I wouldn't have been able to find them without this video and getting a small enough wire. You saved me a ton of more time and money.

Man, what a helpful video. I've been struggling with a Nikki carb for some time - perhaps half of what Vlad went over I knew but a lot of did not. I pulled the carb off the motor - put it into a container with gas - seal the container - and put it container in a utra sonic cleaner for 30 minutes. Left that overnight - used compressed air to blow out out all of the ports - espeically the idle jet. This was the problem I had - surging engine when in idle - and having to have the choke half open when cutting. Anyway put it back together - for the first time in over a year the engine idles properly - and runs a lot stronger when moving...

Excellent tips on cleaning, really appreciate the detail. 10 hp B&S Gen Set fired first time after mimicking your cleaning process.

Really good work, as you’ve said not many videos take you in-depth on how it should really be clean up a carburetor.

Just to clarify, the second very small "stepped" jet you cleaned is the fuel inlet jet for the idle circuit, about .016". It leads to the small brass idle air inlet port that you showed and cleaned, it also leads to the idle circuit port inside the bore (slot with hole next to it) on the engine side of the throttle plate, this is where the engine idle fuel siphoned through the "stepped" .016" jet enters the engine.

This is a great video, thank you! My (same) carb was off a Bearcat wood chipper, 8 HP Intek engine. When I opened it up, it looked like an old can of varnish!! After cleaning off the outside with carb cleaner, I put all the parts into a ultrasonic cleaner with 50:50 Purple Power. Then I cleaned out holes with brass wire and blew it out with compressed air. I would add that the stamp on the carburetor is the following "692475, G02506, 3828 A".

Guitar strings work very well for running through the jets and ports.

Just wanted to stop in an say thank you, I referred to this video and a few others while fixing an Ariens 42" Riding Mower on my channel. Very helpful for finding out where those passage ways are supposed to lead to and how to clean them. I included a link to this video in the description. Thank you!

yes the very narrow hole supply gas and air for the engine to idle and it leads to the front of throttle plate.

You can take pliers and pull out choke butterfly and remove the choke rod so you can clean the holes behind the choke

You mentioned using a set of files, BUT I wouldn't file anything in a carb. May have to lightly polish some parts, but not file. Thanks for describing the wire cleaning. Could be much closer to cam to show better. Thanks

Mine unfortunately dropped/fell out as I took off float bowl, and I'm not really certain which way is up or down for reassembly. I do know the tiny (special) black "O"-ring is supposed to hold it in place. But unfortunately, mine did not. (SIGHS) Anyway, I'll figure it out. Again, 10 times, thank you Vladimir, for a MOST excellent video. You sir, have helped many others by sharing your knowledge, expertise, and time. Great video! Easy to understand. (warm smilz)

Everyone can save a lot of time and aggravation by buying an aftermarket Walbro style carburetor for around $15.oo . Nikki sucks.
