Nikki. Suggestion. f you go this direction by getting a 4x4, you should learn how to air down your tires when you are off road or on long stretches of gravel roads. Lots of KZbin vids on how to do it. Airing down is better for your tires, will give you better grip, and will soften that bumpy ride you were experiencing.

Hi Nikki, just a tip for off-roading a truck. You need to air down your tires if you’re going on rough terrain in order to soften your ride and it’s good for your suspension. Air down your tire to 20 PSI. Then Air up when driving to normal road. Get the air back to pave and highway driving.

Hi Nikki. One small thing to consider before making a final decision on your next vehicle. I have heard a number of people remark that they had previously owned a truck camper such as that, and their biggest reason for no longer owning one was that they found many instances (especially in wet or cold weather situations) where it was inconvenient to have to go outside to drive away from a possibly dodgy spot, or any spot really. On another note, I am sure I have seen your folks and your sister on previous videos, but I was reminded after the last one that 2 such beautiful and adorable women came from the same family. Then in this video I saw your Mom again and realized how that was possible. It is so cool that your Mom is up for these little adventure trips with you. Y'all are lucky to have each other. I've never ever in my wildest dreams thought i'd watch any content like this, Now i'm so excited to go this on my own, But dunno where to go. I'm in NY, I'm thinking of looking up rare places that no one knows about and start from there, NY is a huge state. I feel energized just watching this chick. You are an inspiration to everybody. Hey Nikki, you’re so awesome, it doesn’t matter what rug you choose. I’m sure it will be full of fun and adventure but you definitely need higher ground clearance and really great tires on your next rig. I’m in the market too for a vehicle. Best wishes out there. You and your mom are gorgeous!

I am so happy and excited for you! I love this step up in space! The draw back from my perspective is the price of gas these days and how many miles to the gallon you get. Will this extra cost put a damper on your travel? Other than that I would get that in heart beat! Camper will love it! The out door shower is the bomb!

Nikki as a professional mechanic I want to warn you, there are many BIG costs associated with owning a large diesel truck besides outrageous fuel prices. That thing is badass for sure but don't become too enamoured and get slapped upside the head by things you may not fully understand.

I love it, Nikki! I grew up in a FWC and have so many fond memories of traveling all over the US with my parents and brothers. I’m glad you got to experience this form of travel/camping. A cheaper alternative is a Toyota Tacoma (or similar) with a camper canopy. I’m getting the Vagabond Outdoors Drifter camper and hoping to have it usable by early fall.
@RamJamOverland2 жыл бұрын
Lol no way a taco is the cheaper alternative! Have you seen the prices of them? She needs a 2018-2019 Ram 2500 Cummins 4x4, she’ll get more distance with a diesel and an HD truck with that camper. Tacos don’t have a high payload
@JamesRichardson3rd2 жыл бұрын
@@RamJamOverland Everything you say is true, but the 3rd gen Tacomas just look so good when kitted out. I am considering getting a Taco with a ALU-Cab Canopy camper, or an Atlas from AT Overland.
@rallye812 жыл бұрын
@@RamJamOverland between a RAM and a Taco, maybe not in the current market. But kitted out for overland travel, and long term reliability, I hold the Tacoma is the cheaper option. Why? Because I have a kitted out Taco; and I have a buddy with a kitted out RAM; both designed for overland travel. My Toyota has had significantly less required upkeep, failing parts, and aftermarket parts are cheaper. But, if you’re set on a RAM over Toyota, I’m not here to convince you. I’ve already had a smile on my face for years driving my Taco.
@RamJamOverland2 жыл бұрын
@@JamesRichardson3rd that’s definitely true. My good friend has a wicked 2018 taco but the payload is just so light on them. He really only ended up with a bed rack with a roof top tent and bed filled with his gear. I personally think with the icon HD springs it should work fine.
@RamJamOverland2 жыл бұрын
@@rallye81 I’ve got an ‘18 2500 power wagon. I’m all smiles not issues. 37’s and Lietner acs rack system, rtt. it’s my overland dream truck. And incredibly reliable. And all things considered lol gets about the same mpg maybe two mpg less then my buddy’s overland rig Taco. Lol

That's a helluva truck, but I think it's the level of overkill that will result in the negatives outpacing the benefits. I've camped in pickups, vans, and wagons for almost 30 years and my favorite setups were the ones where, like your Prius, the living and driving compartment were the same space. I think a hybrid SUV, crossover, or minivan would be the happy medium between the Prius and a thirsty, lumbering one-ton GVW 4X4.

Diddo. I think it’s a possibility. I just saw a motorcycle company give away a motorcycle to a KZbinr. With less subscribers than this channel. She called them herself and asked if they’d be interested in borrowing her a motorcycle. They just gave her one in exchange for using it in her videos. Obviously the motorcycle doesn’t cost nearly as much. But who knows? I don’t know how you’d go about asking? Actually there’s another KZbin channel (Dr. Samantha or something???) where the girl uses a similar rig. She supposedly lives in it. Though it doesn’t look lived in. Her videos don’t feel completely legit. Like it’s more about advertising the rig than actually truly living in it. But who knows.

This looks awesome for a holiday! However as a fellow female, I think in the longer-term it would be safer to go for a vehicle in which you could make a quick getaway at any time, without having to get out to get from the sleeping area to the driving area.
@JamesRichardson3rd2 жыл бұрын
I have been looking at these for a few months now. The main reason I have held off is that the family currently uses two 2009 Priuses. With the current gas prices going through the roof, and the prices for new and used cars spiking, the thought of going from 46 - 48 mpg to about 15 mpg at best is upsetting.

I definitely think the sienna minivan would be much better fit for you. Remember Toyota hybrid is going to be able to provide you a inverter choice, also AC without having the motor running constantly.Seriously some thing that gets like 15 miles per gallon or less, plus it takes diesel at over six dollars a gallon. Nikki there are smarter vehicles out there for you. Yes don’t get me wrong it’s really cool if money was no object.#WeNeedToBeFrugalWithOurMoneyTheseDays

Well said! Trucks like these are fine if you use it but its so expensive and environmentally exhausting where as another vehicle would do equally as well for 1/3 the price and better MPG.

One of the reasons i love watching your videos is because of how modest and sincere you feel to me. You seem like a kind and genuine person. You make living outdoors and the idea of "van life" seems reachable and you truly inspired me to think seriouslys.about buying a car and travel like you. This car unfortunately is anything but genuine and modest. It's all about show of and power over others. You love animals and the environment . This car is anti environmental and I am sure is leaving destruction in nature, especially in the desert. In this video with all the thumbs up and the jumpings and huge smiles I felt you were gone. I wish for you only the best , but is this really the best for you? For the world. Ask.yourself what kind of message you are herr to give and inspire others? I am sure there are bigger better solutions that are not all about non caring hedonisem and male toxic power . You are better than this.

I just want to say it was pretty inspiring to see this video. I recently had most of my lateral meniscus taken out and was advised to think about stopping any high impact activities. I used to be an avid backpacker and runner but I'm now wondering if I'll ever get back to doing those things. I've always wanted to build an overlander and was too scared to do so when the pandemic first hit. Now I think it may be the only way for me to get out there and see all the national parks and sights that I want to see. Thanks for sharing your journey.

While that is a super cool rig, I think it completely flies in the face of what you were trying to do in the first place: live freely, frugally, and with minimal impact. That truck/camper combo is expensive, uses a ton of fuel, etc. I get the appeal, but it's pretty far removed from the original mission...

I guarantee it still costs much less than homeownership and uses less energy.
@ThompsonFlash99992 жыл бұрын
@@CSparzo yeah, people underestimate how much energy people use in general. I bet she doesn't really end up using much more gas than people use regularly, just commuting to work and back. Especially since she ended up going with the Tacoma you see beside the Dodge. While those Tacomas weren't great in fuel economy, they are certainly better than the dodge. An interesting one to use would be the new Tundra hybrid, size of the Dodge but even better fuel economy than the Tacoma
