"He Who Remains" is played by Jonathan Majors who is the same actor set to play Kang in Ant-Man 3. He was basically the good variant of Kang that stopped the multiversal war that was started by his evil variants (evil Kang). He preserved the sacred timeline by creating the TVA. Sylvie killing him undoes all of his work and so his evil variants are back. The statue at the end was of the real Kang the Conqueror. Sylvie basically unleashed Kang.

I think betrayal is a strong word in this situation, given that Sylvie doesn't want to hurt Loki or anything like that. She just has a different opinion and doesn't want Loki to get in her way of revenge and possibly get hurt too, so lying to him and pushing him out of the way is the most logical choice for her. As for Mobius, I think this is not the Mobius that Loki knows, but Mobius of a different TVA in a different parallel universe maybe? So hope Loki finds his way back to the original Mobius.

There’s only 1 TVA so it’s not really possible to have a different timeline’s TVA to be the explanation. In the first episode they tell us that “Time flows differently in the TVA” therefore the TVA exists outside of the timeline, so there can’t be multiple TVAs. What I assume happened is that Kang the Conqueror (the evil one) took over when Loki was at the end of time (both the end of time and the TVA exist outside of time) and wiped every agents memories, like every agent that wasn’t pruned before this.

@Jim Gordon I don’t think you get how the TVA works. The TVA is not part of the timeline. It never was, it exists outside of time. Therefore even if the timeline branches there’s no TVA in the timeline anyways, so it’s literally impossible for the branches to create another TVA. Just think of the TVA as a different realm than the MCU reality we know, where time doesn’t flow normally. The MCU we know is going to get crazy, but you can’t have multiple TVAs because it isn’t part of the sacred timeline in the first place and cannot branch into another TVA.

Sylvie's decision is understandable and makes most sense in the overall context for she never had any anchor whatsoever to protect from those deep trust issues, she only had an almost entire lifetime of apocalypses, hiding, persecution and alone time to nurse her feelings of hatred and wishes of revenge and destruction. Well in the comics Kang does try to use Wanda's "Nexus Power" to gain supreme power over other Kangs and other beings in the multiverse that threaten his empire. He's also responsible for Wanda never having children by making sure Vision was Wanda's romantic interest was solidified. Apparently they become a threat to his empire through her. That obviously backfired because Wanda found a way to use magic to create life, as seen in Wandavision. Things are different in the comics but they're somewhat accurate with various changes.

There's a theory in temporal physics that time isn't linear, that it's more like everything is happening at once, we just experience it linearly. Nikki & Steven: From what I've gathered, what happened at the end is that what Immortus/He-Who-Remains/Nice-Dictator-Kang-Variant said came to be true. Sylvie killed him and he and his "Sacred Timeline/TVA pruning" is what kept the other Evil Kang Variants in line. She basically opened a giant can of worms and she did send "Our Loki" back to what she thought was the TVA HQ but since she killed "Immortus," the timeline is forever changed and splintered. It seems like he came back to a TVA that is now controlled by Kang the Conqueror (thus the statue of him at the end). Did anyone even realize that we never got the trailer footage of Loki on a Throne or the Loki saying “glorious” in Stark Tower? Did they cut those scenes or actually film those just to throw us off in trailers?

If you look at the trailer, there are certain scenes that they have changed things, either the background or removed things, so that it didn't spoil the show. For example, when the doors open on Lamentis to rescue Sylvie and Loki at the last minute, they show that in the trailer but with a different background and Sylvie has been cut out. They show Loki in the void in the middle of the destroyed New York in the trailer, but that scene is actually when he first meets the Loki's in the field - they've changed the background to hide the Loki's reveal. So not surprising that there are scenes that we didn't see or we don't recognise

I honestly think that even though they would’ve been forced to make tough and even reprehensible decisions, they should’ve taken the throne. Now they’ll have to deal with an infinite number of Kang’s and just ONE of them could be more than Loki, The Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers or anyone could take on alone. @@pannedokonaly4947 Kang was the statue that replaced the Time Keepers at the end. So his influence is already active. They definitely did a composite character for "he who remains". The comics "He who remains", if I recall correctly, was the last remaining TVA agent from the multiverse that preceded this one (like Galactus and a few others are survivors of the previous multiverse). This one is a Kang version who seems to have been living through multiple loops of the entire timeline.

Johnathon Majors was already announced to play Kang in the next Ant Man Movie. He is the actor who played “He Who Remains.” As such, they are one in the same… just variants of each other. If you did not watch Lovecraft Country on HBO, check that out. Jonathon Majors acted his BUTT off in that movie. That show just got 17 Emmy nominations. He has a lot of range as an actor and it will be cool to see him play all these versions of Kang with different personalities.

He didn’t actually know because of where they were at. The Citadel lies at the end of time. There isn’t anything after that, so just about everything that happened in the castle was “new time” or things that hadn’t been written yet. So Kang only knew what would happen up to a specific point, hence the “threshold” and everything after that is unknown.
