Hi Nikki! I don't normally comment on videos, but I just wanted to say that your videos relax and inspire me. Thank you for taking the time to make such aesthetic and polished videos. It's people like you that inspire me to eat more plant-based in my everyday life. Lately I've been leading by example (instead of getting preachy with diet/lifestyle information), and yesterday my boyfriend randomly announced that he wanted to eat three plant-based meals a week! Thanks again for being so much of an inspiration and keeping doing you!

I just wanted to tell you that I was employed over the summer at a youth camp as a baker and was asked to make vegan cookies for campers (I’m not vegan.) But I remembered this video and made these cookies and the vegan and dairy free kids were so happy and grateful!!! Plus Sweet Simple Vegans cookie is now my go to for pot lucks. Thank you

Thank you so much for sharing this recipe from Food 52 "Ovenly's Secretly Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe". I made these cookies TWICE and they are the best cookies I've made thus far. The cookies were so soft, big, fluffy, and had a wonderful taste. I did make some edits on the flour. When I made these cookies the 2nd time I used Almond Flour along with adding dark chocolate chips, which then made these gluten free and were still very tasty.

I was so happy to see you included a cookie recipe from Liv B...I'm currently obsessed with her chocolate chip cookie from her book (basically the cookie you tested, just not double chocolate). I can't wait to try the rehydrating flour technique.

The Food 52 Ovenly cookies are absolutely genius! When they say it’s the only chocolate chip cookie recipe you need, they aren’t kidding. I’ve made these for large groups of non vegans and they are always a hit! I agree, the freezing step can be skipped if you don’t have room in the freezer for a cookie sheet, or the extra time. Great video Nikki!

I watched this video when it first came out, and rewatched it this am. I made the Sweet Simple Vegan recipe and because I was taking the cookies to someone else, I didn't refrigerate them overnight, but did put the dough in the fridge while baking each tray. Just a half-hour in the fridge made a difference. The first batch spread out too much, but the second (plus slightly less dough per cookie) was just right. Sometime, when I have more time, I'll refrigerate overnight and see what happens. Thanks for your experimenting!
@NikkiVegan3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Yeah so refrigerating even for a few minutes helps to re-chill the butter which prevents the cookies from spreading too much in the oven. The first batch was probably a bit warmer and so spreading can happen but what I loved about this experiment is that it taught me that refrigerating overnight not only improves the texture, but it also depends the flavor because it's almost like marinating overnight! The cookies were sooo tasty after 24 hours so I definitely recommend giving it a try when you have some time ☺️ Thanks for letting me know that you enjoyed this video! I hope you have a great weekend ❤️

OMG!!!! I made the Ovenly’s Secretly recipe yesterday and it was Amazing! I followed the recipe entirely and they came out Beautifully! After mixing the ingredients I let the dough refrigerate for 16 hours, I also placed the balls of dough in the freezer for 10 minutes. I can admit, I was kind of scared that the cookies would not turn out ok because my mixture was wetter looking and more formed when using the cookie scooper than on the video. Also the chocolate chips that I purchased were made with 53% cocoa and not 60% that the recipe called for, but I could not have been more satisfied with the finished product. The cookies were even better the day after. Needles to say those cookies are long gone and I will be whipping up another batch to carry to work tomorrow. Thanks for sharing this great recipe.

hi nikki, wow ive never gotten a personal reply befor lol, thank you, the first couple days was really daunting because i was really straped for options especially were i live which is in manurewa, south auckland newzealand, i am probqbly the only maori practicing vegan in south auckland and probably in a handfull in general in south auckland so when there are products sold here they are overpriced and because of that, trial and error adds to the daunting task of just wanting to be vegan, however after a few hundred hours of youtube clips and your excellent chocolate chip testing video i am doing alot better ( omg by the way i almost cryied for joy when i had my first bite of the ssv cookie you taught me) so again thank you, its a slow but very rewarding process im already noticing nice health benefits and though im not 100 percent vegan yet ( because of things in my pantry that still have egg or dairy in them like mayo and chocolate) im learning how to make my own vegan options of all these things now including all my fav foods and im so happy to know 100% vegan will be my life very soon and i am so happy, thank you again for your awesome videos i love them and will be watching many more for all my meal ideas. 😍😍😍😍💜💜💜💜💖🍪💖

Hi Nikki . . . Thanks so VERY MUCH for this video! I was wondering if you were curious to try that 24-hr flour rehydrate with Liv B's Double Chocolate one, as well as (maybe) the 10-minute freezing tip (or not, although I LOVED that you at least TRIED that freezing trick TOO & it didn't make ALL that much difference w/Jasmine&Chris's cookie!). Maybe at least the 24-hr thingy would make the texture even better on Liv B's?? I'm also eager to try these new techniques on a few of MY vegan cookie recipe creations, as I ONLY use crystalized Fructose (much better Glycemic Index, which is IMPORTANT for diabetics); & fructose is also 1/3 SWEETER-TASTING (but same amt. of carb & calories) than regular white sugar, which means you can use 1/3 LESS but it will TASTE just as sweet! ALSO, in most of my vegan cookie recipes usually combine the fructose with an equal amt. of Coconut Palm Sugar, because it tastes VERY similar to regular brown sugar, but, again, has a MUCH lower Glycemic Index); I also only use 100% whole wheat pastry flour in my cookie recipes, which is HEALTHIER than white flour, but is much more finely processed, so the TEXTURE is more like with the white flour. So I'm eager to test it out....But I wondered if with that "crumbly"-ness of Liv B's cookie (before baking) would be significantly improved as well as the texture even BETTER after baking....just curious......I ADORE you and your videos....THANK YOU SO MUCH AGAIN!!....love, Daryl

I've been using coconut oil in place of butter in baking for years. The only time it doesn't work is in pastry recipes where the butter is there to make the pastry flaky like in pie crusts. In that case just use Earth Balance!
