Fun fact Nikko, the officer can't ever tell you to stop audio/video recording during a traffic stop with legal authority. He/she can ask you to place it down temporarily but can not intentionally move it or impede it's ability to audio or video record from the point it was placed unless it is creating a safety hazard which... Technically, you can leave your phone on and recording throughout an encounter with a cop, but do realize that if you are arrested and your phone is on and unlocked, it is considered in plain sight and can be searched without a warrant (at least as far as I know, the rules might have changed since the last time I looked this up).
