Btw, I am almost certain that isn't snow, that's ash: the "planet is burning", "taste the ash, taste the dust" etc. As I understand, it's an amazing song about some of humanities deepest problems, e.g. climate breakdown (since it makes e.g. wildfires worse -> ash), challenging all of us to step up & fight back, "because time's running out", to go to the roots of the problem ("You’ve gotta cut the roots to kill the weeds") and to challenge those in power ("‘Where were you when the Gods clipped the wings of the Phoenix?’"; "When will we wrestle the world from the fools and their gold And their fucking covenant?"). Architects’ direction on the recent songs is reminding me of how Parkway Drive switched to a more direct approach on Ire. It’s catchy and enjoyable as hell - but connects to a different emotional place than with their previous offerings. The “heaviness” or let’s call it complexity, whether in composition or tonality is a factor in the emotional heft / enjoyment of a song for me, personally. So, it’s certainly a switch in sound, and I can understand when a band wants to experiment. All power to them.

Architects is really impressing me with the two singles, in a different way than before. Songwriting has always been superb for the genres they've been a part of, but this one & "Animals" are showing that a slight change in direction doesn't affect that at all. In terms of Animals, it definitely was not "top notch" Architects. It was great, don't get me wrong. But it definitely suffered at the hands of it being a little too, dare I say, simple. And by that, I mean that I can listen to the song and forget I'm listening to it. Whereas most of their other songs draw me in, and I feel like I have completed the song and really *experienced* it.
