I totally don't get his fanbase. His videos about subgenres seem very inaccurate to me and contain many flows that are very strange to be made by someone who claims to know alot about brutal death metal stuff. Overall they gave me feeling like he doesn't care much for outside his favorite vegan punk/grind. Don't even look particulary entertaining. Music he gets involved in always look very generic to me. Naw man. My mom, dad grandma….everybody fucks with Tiktok. Just….I do not. Cannot. It’s like being raped with content. I like to select meticulously what I’m gonna watch, and I like knowing there is more video left. I hate short videos, unless they are categorized and compiled. Also, I prefer genuineness over positivity any day….TikTok is like manufactured positivity. I don’t get that “ooh. It’s so happy and I feel good after watching it” vibe I’m told about. I get goosebumps and anxiety. Every time. It’s like…You know uncanny valley? When you create art that is close enough to the real thing to be identified as that thing, but slightly off in a way that makes it scarier than if it was stylized. Like that one teacher who always smiled/ laughed and shit, even if they are scolding the class. I dunno. I would normally go, “maybe I’m a negative dude, and it’s totally natural.” But naw. Fuck that. Ever talk to somebody who has recently got obsessed with tiktok. They kinda get this, “be happy or else I will white blood cell you.” Kinda vibe. Like bruh. Happiness is like one emotion. And it’s not even the coolest emotion. Or the most addicting. Same shit with positivity. Like, why tf do horror or sad movies exist? It’s like watching the happy ending of a movie on repeat. Happiness is a reward. Nobody should be entitled to it. It’s not like some physics shit where happiness is warmth and sadness is just the lack of warmth. Naw. It’s like….uuuuh, imagine if you only ate your favourite food, everyday of your life, from birth. (Don’t ask how your parents knew what your favourite food would be…just go along with it…it’s an analogy) so yeah. Would it still be your favourite food? Would you even like it after a certain point? That’s emotions bruh. You pick your favourite. But if you decide to only sit on that emotion, it becomes nothing. I think tiktok creeps me out because it’s pushing the same shit that got me into a depression at like 12. I was like, “oh. Happiness and positivity are like the thing we are all striving for right. Welp. Imma only feel it. Forever. Why not?” and than emotions stopped existing. Or I was desensitized to happiness and absolutely un-prepared l and horrified of anything negative. Like, it wasn’t depression. It was depression and this constant feeling of impending doom and isolation. Eventually I got desensitized to that, and happiness came back online….basically, I became bipolar for like 3 years. (Acted the same nonetheless. But inside I was either a god or a worm….fun times) Than I just said, fuck it. Fuck happiness. Fuck sadness. Fuck everything. It’s legit just feelings. Let em in bois. And slowly, I became a balanced, stable individual…basically a cheerful dude with a disturbing sense of humour. That’s my idea of balance. But whatever. The moral of the story is, I think anybody whose “been there. Done that” doesn’t get tiktok. Because it’s fucking imbalanced. And those who have been there and done that know how dangerous that shit is. I’m not saying I know how depression and shit work. It’s been a while, after all. But I’m just saying, for me at least, desensitizing yourself to any emotion is a great way to promote it. And shit like tiktok. Things that promote positivity only….and on one of the biggest platforms on the planet. Naw. Srry. I don’t get it’s premise. Not because I don’t understand it. But because it’s wrong, and fucking dangerous. I normally don’t get angry at things, but tiktok….It is an immoral platform. It uses impulsive, almost unstoppable bursts of content, out of the gate. No pause button. No control. Honestly is pushed below the surface. The whole thing is just…..it’s a crazy hedonistic treadmill that’s stuck on high…and you have no arms…fuck it. Or legs. And you are sitting on a chair, directly behind it, being told your doing a good job by the onboard treadmill coach. One of these days, ur gonna realize ur not actually doing anything, and you can’t now, because you wasted all your time thinking you were doing it already. And you also don’t have any arms or legs….scuffed ass analogy. But it’s provocative…..lol….so fffuck tiktok, and anybody who understands this and endorses it….actually naw. Its ight. It’s just confusing. It’s giving people jobs and maybe, people have too much sadness in their life that it helps to balance it out, preventing depression and stuff. Idk. And like, I’m sure it’ll mature. Or maybe call the fact that it’s not, is the fun in it. Fuck man. Maybe I get it now. But I just don’t get it, because it’s not for me. Raises the question though…how sad are people?…..damn. That’s the saddest questions I’ve ever asked. I’d imagine that if everybody was content, tiktok wouldn’t be as relevant. But like, really. If it’s not to prevent desperate people from being too sad, what is it? Damn….iiiive over thought the fuck out of this. Naw fam. It’s just a social thing. Like, “ooh. Check this cool thing out.” And there’s enough people in it for everybody to at least get a response to their cool thing. It’s got decent technology, that is kinda cheese cuz everybody is using it, but also easily mainstream because it’s relatively familiar, and creatively limited. And maybe people are accepting technology as an actual means of meaningful interaction. It’s an actual experience. Especially recently when that went out the window. People who relied on outside, community, people, their job and everything to give them joy, now used technology to fill that. I’m lucky enough get enjoyment out of progressing in hobbies and stuff, but maybe that’s the same thing, just quieter. So I don’t get it. But I actually kinda understand it now. It’s just made for somebody else. As a supplement, if you will. Ight TikTok. Said some shit like 200 words ago. I take it back. I respect you. I’ll just never be your friend.
