@@peepturner8325 bro how is he bad for the metal community
@peepturner8325 Жыл бұрын
@@DaPeanutDude. there are multiple reasons, but the main issue is that he popularises the myth that Metalcore and Metal are the same genre. Metalcore belongs to its own seperate category, which is hardcore or punk. Metal is hardcore that simply borrows elements of metal. I’m not saying this because I dislike metalcore, I love the genre that precursors metalcore, hardcore, and don’t consider grindcore metal, despite my liking of it but saying that they are the same genres is dangerous for both communities as it essentially merges both communities as one, which demolishes the aspects of both communities that make them distinct. Then, the notion of metalcore belonging to the same genre as metal spreads, more metal bands will incorporate metalcore into their sound, which is generally agreed upon by the metal community that doesn’t have a strong relationship with metalcore/deathcore to be of lesser quality than actual metal music (since, you know, metalcore isn’t metal). The same can be said with the metalcore audience for metal, which usually dislike black metal and death metal, though to a lesser extent of metal heads disliking metalcore since those that listen to metalcore’s music is usually less evolved than metalhead’s. I know I sound really pretentious, but I am simply speaking the truth and hope that you understand where I am coming from. I don’t dislike Nick as a person, but his clear ignorance in metal music and even punk as a whole is frustrating to say the least.

Not really surprized Slayer numbers are low. For the younger crowd, they're probably seen as the big ''gatekeeping metal elitist band of choice'' to stay away from. Which is kinda too bad. I’m actually shocked that Sad But True has less listens than The Beautiful People. Like you could almost argue it kinda makes sense because Spotify is a mostly younger person platform so it’s more likely to have newer songs be played, but The Beautiful People is almost just as old anyway, and it’s fucking Metallica so that really shouldn’t have any effect anyway. It’s not even like Sad But True is a deep cut or anything either. It’s from their most popular album and is one of the best songs from that album too. So I’m genuinely shocked that it doesn’t even have 300m views. More shocked that it has less than The Beautiful People 😂
@TheJerseyNinja Жыл бұрын
I guess the only thing that makes sense for it is that Metallica’s discography of big, popular songs is much bigger than Marilyn Manson’s, so people listening to Metallica on Spotify would typically listen to the song less often because they have more of their songs to also listen to vs the more cult like following of Marilyn Manson (not really cult like but MORE cult like than Metallica that’s for sure) would be more likely to listen to that song more often because the discography isn’t as large, and it’s also his most popular song. So also if you were to be the kind of person who makes like playlists of one song per band, you’re way more likely to include The Beautiful People as Marilyn Manson’s song than Sad But True as Metallica’s
@TheJerseyNinja Жыл бұрын
Actually I hadn’t realized how many albums Marilyn Manson had put out. It’s actually the same amount of studio albums as Metallica so the total discography may be around the same if not more. But still in terms of likelihood you’d listen to The Beautiful People if picking a Marilyn Manson song vs Sad But True when picking one Metallica song is much higher
