It's NOT legal to drive ANY salvage titled car on the road UNTIL it has been fixed AND passed a DMV inspection, period! - this is more copat advertising BS
@TylerDuysen2 жыл бұрын
@@TM-529 wrong you have a certain time frame to drive it home usually 7 days just have to put insurance on it it only has to pass inspection to be retiteled as a rebuilt title instead of salvage
@TM-5292 жыл бұрын
@@TylerDuysen You have NO idea what you talking about - been a towing business owner for 15 years and a small car dealer licensed for three. Cars deemed salvage are NOT allowed to drive on ANY public road as they are UNSAFE, it can only be put back into service AFTER it is FIXED and PASS a DMV inspection CERTIFYING it's REBUILT and up to safe standards, ONLY then the car can be RE-TITLED as "rebuilt" and only THEN it can get insured to be driven on a public road. No insured = NO legal on public roads as well. Salvage titled cars MUST be towed away period. Some idiots will slap a dealers license tag on them and drive it home anyways....good luck with that, if get caught you will lose your dealers license.

@@TM-529 im not gonna argue with you not every state is the same most states you only need bill of sale and insurance you can insure a salvage title vehicle in every state for example here in idaho if i have a bill of sale and insurance i can drive it for 7 days allowing me time to get to the dmv flood cars are the easiest thing to retitle literally like he said in the video check your states laws some might not let you drive it home most will

Hey there Mike, anytime you're dealing with electrical flooded systems try spraying everything with "Corrosion X" let sit a few minutes, wipe or dry air it off and re-spray and don't wipe off and plug it back in. You'll be amazed!
@tomking18902 жыл бұрын
In Michigan it is not legal to sell a flooded vehicle. Not sure how many states support this. The key takeaway is that you need to be vigilant when buying a used car, even if you don’t live near a traditional storm area. That’s because flood-damaged cars are often transported well beyond their original region after major storms to locations where consumers may be less aware of the warning signs to look for. Water can ruin electronics, lubricants, and mechanical systems. It may take months or years, but corrosion can find its way to the car’s vital electronics, including airbag controllers. Consumers need to carefully inspect any used car before buying one (or pay a mechanic to do it). Consumer Reports’ chief mechanic, John Ibbotson, says to avoid vehicles with signs of deep-water exposure “even if a vehicle looks acceptable and may be working when you inspect it.” That’s because the long-term effects of water damage can haunt buyers for the life of the car. Too often, when an insurance company declares a flood-damaged car a total loss, that information isn’t communicated to potential buyers. Once a flood car is totaled, it’s supposed to get a new title, called a salvage title. Those titles are usually plainly marked (known as being “branded”) with the word “salvage” or “flood.” In some states, this warning is shown on the title as an obscure letter or number code. Totaled cars are typically sold at a salvage auction to junkyards and vehicle rebuilders. Reselling them to consumers may be legal if the flood damage is disclosed on the title. Those “salvage title” cars can’t be registered until necessary repairs are made and the vehicle is reinspected by officials. Then the vehicle is given a “rebuilt” title, which allows it to be registered for consumer use. But as Consumer Reports found years ago in an investigation of rebuilt wrecks, some flood-damaged vehicles reappear with a clean title. Be especially wary of any used car being offered with a “lost” title or with only a bill of sale.
@chrismiller18182 жыл бұрын
From what pros say is first naturally salt water versus fresh water only makes a slight difference but corrosion will happen and salt water is just faster but unless you clean every electrical connections they will eventually fail..and the cost of replacing ECU etc gets very pricey so the vehicle will run fine for awhile then shorts begin to happen weeks or months later...most mechanics I watch say most should just be used as parts because electrical nightmares are coming

And trust me, when the problems start happening with a salt water dunk it's like the car has gone crazy.
