Work smarter not harder 100% agree. The classic VW bug would be worth rebuilding. If cheap enough and if it hasn't sat to long.

VW Bugs are dime a dozen around. No point of spending $20k fixing a flooded one if another in good condition can be bought for $8k.

That X3M40i is a gem, it's equipped with probably BMW' most reliable engine/trans combo (B58 w/ 8 speed ZF) definitely worth bidding on! Also boys it's a 3.0L in-line six.

If you're buying these for yourself, fine, your choice. But I have a problem with people that buy these and try to pass them off and sell them without disclosing that they were in a flood. So many people do this, especially on Facebook market place & Craigslist.

@@rlhh4 I wasn't acusing the video creator of hiding the facts and trying to sell flooded cars without disclosing the history, but I've test drove cars for sale off of Facebook, Craigslist, and even one from a used car lot. There was strong odors of fragrance sprays & cleaners to cover up mold stench, and the control panel and dash was fogged up on the insides, when I took them to my mechanic to have them looked over I was told not to buy them, because it was obvious they had been flooded. They all had clean carfax and only one showed a "rebuilt" title. Part of me really wanted to get a great deal and ignore the smell & overlook the fogged dashboard, because the cars looked so good and didn't have many miles. My mechanic was very thorough and showed me underneath the carpeting and in the trunk where there was mold and areas that were rusting. Of course the car lot was totally offended when I told them what my mechanic said, and the others said no, they had never been in a flood.

After Hurricane Ian, you better avoid any vehicle with a waterline above the floor. I had to replace the engine, all electric switches, all electric motors, wiring harness, dash and interior on a suburban. By the time I was finished I had 75% of what I could have bought it in good used condition plus hundreds of hours of my own labor.

To each his own but I have had nothing but problems with flooded vehicles. Constantly constantly breaking down. Replaced wire harness alternator spark plugs and wires replaced fuse box inside and under the hood replace brain. Even replaced vacuum lines. Still continue to have problems runs great one day like crap the next and the day after that it doesn't run at all every time I fix it something else breaks Chrysler minivan. 30,000 miles. Just can't trust it. Never know how it will run from day to day. Sometimes even within the course of a day it runs completely different. Also had the timing done as well. Pretty much everything you can think of I've replaced. Things come on and off by themselves. Sometimes it'll even stall going 80 miles an hour. To look at the van you think it was brand spanking new right off the showroom floor.

When I used to haul cars for IAA I spent s few weeks near Austin in a town called Wimberley. I was told that when water touches the floor of a car it's a total loss. Yes it could. Be repaired but the insurance companies just cut their losses.

I haven't seen to many of your videos but I did notice that you are looking at KY Flood vehicles now this being said all of them should be fresh water flooded so as a mechanic as long as the vehicle was not running the powertrain itself is salvageable electrical systems should be fine but they will have to dry out at room temperature. Salt water flooded vehicles are stay away vehicles unless it has a low water line

Back a few years ago and there was a flood that happened in some other state. I don’t recall which one it was but when the cars were being sold by the rental company that was selling them, they ran into a problem where the flood vehicles had mold growing in them And I hit them up and I let them know if you want to get some equipment to be able to remediate this mold which would help out not having to take everything apart and to reach these hard to reach areas on such as the AC ducts that flow underneath the carpet, if you know water that’s stuck underneath the carpet you can dry it all out . An easy way to be able to do something like that would be a titan 800 heater. Proven to disinfect safe to remediate flood damage and eradicate all pest. Maybe something you may find useful. After all some of the vehicles are utilized in these circumstances any ways . I don’t know everyone has opinions classic cars are always restored does anyone care what it’s history is besides it looks good and runs good now we just live in a kindegarden era everyone wants 5 stars Greentechheat.com
