Nikola Jokic is having another MVP caliber season in 2022 with the Denver Nuggets, as he’s putting up unreal numbers on historic efficiency. Jokic could definitely go back to back, but the 2022 NBA MVP race is very close between him, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. But this video is more focused on the crazy things he’s doing as a center, things that we have never seen before from the position. Of course the efficiency numbers are one thing, along with the Nuggets success despite injuries to Jamal Murray & Michael Porter Jr, but the inverted pick and roll. He operates it like no center ever before.

Yup. Second and third scorers out. His fourth scorer will Barton has been absolutely trash for LONG stretches this season. He’s also helped here and there.. but AG second best player on the team (he’s very good but hasn’t been the best defender as in the past)- and arguably Monte/Bones.

I'm 70 years old and grew up near Boston, so obviously I was a big basketball fan. But starting in the 90's, my interest waned. To me, it just wasn't as entertaining anymore. Now though, I'm back to watching, mainly because of Jokic. Is he not the most entertaining guy playing today? I mean his moves to the hoop, his insane passes, ball handling and three-point shooting are pure joy to watch,

It really depends what you like watching in terms of play-style. I like players who are extremely athletic and fast and do crazy acrobatic things like Ja, so i prefer that in terms of entertainment. And recently more younger people are being entertained by shooters like Steph who pull wild shots that fall. Everyone has preference really, but there’s no doubt Jokic has an entertaining play-style himself with the way he breaks down a defense

I still remember the days Marc Gasol was considered the best passing big man in the league. I never expected someone to be miles better & more efficient at that. Jokic is the MVP imo and I wish Murray & Porter Jr. were healthy enough to play and give Jokic more help.

Here's a stat that none of the "experts" have pointed to that separates Jokic from others. He leads the league in touches...99 per game. Think about that for a minute.....a Center leading the league in touches. As a contrast, Joel E. averages 75 per game. What does this mean? It means that Joker is far more intertwined in the Nugget's offense than all other players in the NBA. Everyone charts assists. Does anyone chart passes that lead to assists....the skip pass that leads to a hard closeout and a drive, kick, and score? The answer is no. I really think that stat, as much as any, highlights just how great this guys is and how much he means to his team.

Yeah he IS this nuggets offense. In that Lakers game a few hours ago I recall a play he was in the post where he passed out, and then the ball was swung around more times leading to a three. But it was all built off the rotations that were forced from Jokic being doubled.

Sadly i feel the NBA has decided a couple of weeks ago that Embiid will win. Just look at their page. News about anything Embiid does (even if the sixers lose) are displayed as top news while Jokic's are often (not always) more like sidenotes..... i guess it's better for business having three great players competing (with giannis)
