However, with Jokic and the boys - this team, this era just feels different, it feels like they are having fun playing and thus making the game enjoyable. What made LeBron great early in his career, you can tell he was enjoying the moment, taking it all in with Cleveland. Sadly, in my opinion - when he decided to go travel the country to chase championships his ego got in the way. Tipping point is when he called himself the GOAT. Michael Jordon would even tell you and has said that he doesn't like the phrase GOAT. Jokic is humble, still learning our culture our way of life. He is having fun in his own way. If he wants to dunk he can for sure 100% dunk and show them but he doesn't because he wants to save on "energy". For example, in the 4th quarter you would see many players that dunk would get burnt out to quickly but then you see him speeding along, going back and forth at a great pace. @@berryesseenI would believe you that jokic is a bad defender, if you can actually prove to me that Jordan Poole is an elite defender. You can't. Jokics stats show that he is a decent defender, he won't ever make defensive first team but he's a net positive defender. And all his defensive stats show that, if you look at all the stats than it's not lying with statistics than it's simply proving a point with statistics.

@@lukakaps9548 People give too much value to stats, especially to defensive stats because defense is in general a team effort. Denver successfully hides Jokic's disadvantages. I mean you have guys like AG and KCP. How hard can it be to defend with those guys? Jordan Poole isn't a good defender right now because Wizards are a terrible team. Replace Poole and Murray. Poole will instantly become a good defender. The guy literally won a championship. He was an okay defender in GSW. You can support this by selecting the stats to show. To be a really good defender, you got to make a difference individually on a defensively poor team. Like Gobert did at Jazz. Gobert would be good even at Wizards. Jokic is a below average defender (or a bad defender) who is hidden well thanks to personnel and coaching.

Man I love Jokic he's bringing back that excitement 90s and early 2000s basketball had. Hes like Larry Bird as a Center. Amazing to watch

The thing that makes him most special is that even with all of that talent he is fine with playing in the small media market that signed him. Loyalty is arguably his greatest asset... and that kind of unselfishness from a leader can define a team and reinforce the play of everyone around the identity of the leader. Denver has had great players before... but they all wanted out as soon as they could. Our only hope was always going to be in finding a superstar that was happy to stay here.

The craziest part of his game to me is his floaters and short hooks. Those are hard shots for even pros to make and he makes them at lay up efficiency. His touch in that area on those types of shots is leagues ahead of anyone in league history.

for real. crazy to think that one of the best floaters in the league belongs to a big man lmao

Jokic is one of the most, if not the most, selfless player in the NBA. Because of that, he makes everyone else better. His team knows, when their on the court with Jokic, they have a chance to contribute and participate, and that makes everyone else more eager to play hard. With ball hogs, stat padders, it introduces team complacency or selfishness to make a play since it comes farther and fewer in between. But Jokic is looking to make the best play, first for others, than himself. A chance to make plays comes sooner than on other teams. But you'll also see, when the game looks to be slipping away, he'll take command, and put up points necessary. Maybe others in this league that I can think of that played similarly are, Magic Johnson, John Stockton, Steve Nash perhaps. Of course, Jamal Murry, Aaron Gordon, KCP are all beasts in their own right. Then you have MPJ, he's the silent assassin, as he does it all too. What an amazing team. It's like if John Elway could have played one more year with good knees, the Broncos could have three-peated. Nuggets are in good position for another run in 2024, and hopefully more.
