My Nikon S6500 power on/off button just stopped powering on, the led lights up the ring and is charged right, we have two so I tested the battery in the other works fine, tested the other battery in mine no go, so it's the power button is not pressing down right, I have read tons of folks have this same problem. Mine is just 6 months old.

Beware, I have bought 3 of these. The first was great and lasted a long time. So I bought 2 more. Problem now neither will turn on. Go on line and see this is a very common problem.

Ours has failed as well, and I haven't found a solution to the issue. I also found many others who have defective Coolpix S6500 cameras. I doubt that I'll buy Nikon in the future. They offer NOTHING in fixing the issue.

yeah most likely NOT. I NEVER bought a digicam and it came with a free memory card inside! Unless it states that a memory card is included and only then it would be in a separate packaging along side the camera packaging.

In higher level sound environments the audio section is worthless, spoiling what would be otherwise a good video with distorted sound. One would think with all of the options this thing has, they would have at least put something in it to reduce audio record gain.

You're lucky Rick! I just got a response from Nikon saying that all I need is a firmware update. So, how does one do a firmware update when the camera is dead? Its beating a dead horse to me.....

6 String Fan go to the little wrench in the menu, check firmware version, if you have 1.1, it's updated. If you have 1.0, go to Nikon download center, download current firmware on a computer. Upload that to your sd card and put it back in camera. Check firmware again, that should prompt update

Any light or heavy-duty tripods will do. It's a light camera. Infact you don't need a tripod except under very low-light.

You'll need to have an SD card in. I use a 32gb SD card, but you can get a cheap 4-8gb SD card which will give you a decent amount of room.

I ended up sending it back to Nikon who repaired it. They never told me what was wrong but if it has warranty just take it back. It's still a an excellent camera and have no problems since. Cheers
