At the time of introduction, every press room/newspaper bought these. Newsrooms were major target for this camera. Newsprint is 200 dpi at 8X10 size is what AP uses. Magazines use 300 dpi at 8x10 size. These dpi's are still in use today. The D1x will output 200 dpi at 8x10 size or 300 dpi at 8x10 size. Today, if you post to social media, you resize to 2000 x 1300 or so for Facebook. With the D1x you don't have to resize. Still relevant.

The battery issue is really not a problem. The way to get over it is this:- Get a Quantum Turbo battery pack with a Nikon D1/ D1x/D1H connector cable - you can still get these on Ebay. Take the original NIKON battery not the China copy (these have a coin type latch and you need the D type Nikon battery cover latch) and UNSCREW the battery from the battery cover you ONLY need the COVER. Fix the cover to the camera with the latch - if you want you can even super glue it in place as you will never need to remove it again. Take the Quantum lead and pass it through the battery cover latch. you now have the Quantum lead secured by the battery latch. Remove the RUBBER COVER (save it somewhere safe you don't need it and leaving it in place it gets in the way) and plug the lead into the D1X DC power in port, then with a small cable tie tightly fasten the Quantum power lead to the battery latch D Ring giving enough lead to reach the power input. You now have a secure power source for your D1X that wont pull out. Put the Quantum Battery in your pocket or use the belt clip to secure the battery body. This works GREAT and is THE solution to the useless Nikon battery that the camera was supplied with. Give your D1X/D1H a new lease of life - the D1X is still a fantastic camera and will hold its own against todays modern DSLRs because in reality you absolutely don't need the massive megga pix file sizes. I did double page newspaper pics with the D1H that were better than film!

Ayant vu cette vidéo, j'aimerais savoir si ce boitier est pour les professionnels ou les amateurs, et aussi savoir le nombre de mégapixels, les sensibilités qu'on peut avoir, ainsi que le prix, et le codage.

shutter can sync at all speeds

Bravo. Ottimo lavoro, interessante e completo.

Buone feste. Ti aspetto in Italia. Ti regalerò un giubbotto idrostatico vintage.

Another terrific video. Amazing to see the advent of digital photography. I understand why Nikon didn't retain 1/16000 speed, but why did they drop 1/500 sync? Terrific suit and tie, but can you leap between rooftops?
@1989Goodspeed2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Well, no idea why they would cut the 1/500 flash sync… best guess budget reasons. To be frank the Suit and tie ending came about me remembering an old Matrix inspired Powerade commercial…cheesy but it left an impression. …I don’t think I have “Freed my Mined” to that extent… Yet. Maybe with some green screen work lol. Anyway, Happy Holidays!
@SgtPnkks Жыл бұрын
1/16000 is a combined effort of the mechanical shutter and electronic shutter So basically the actual shutter fires at a slower speed and the sensor dumps to the buffer before the shutter closes... And being a ccd you won't have rolling shutter like cmos

Hi all, we purchased our D1x around 2001/2 for £1900 along with the mains adapter, both still working. I have recently purchased another 1Dx for £ 54. Still fun to use, but not very often.

Cool, it really was a “Revolution” when it came out… Now it still takes good images but maybe not for “pro” use. Still fun for a cheap price!

@@1989Goodspeed Having compared the D3X @ £550 and the D610 @ £ 1600 we went for the D610 we also left the D800E and went for the D810, however if your heart desires the D3x go for it. SEASONS GREATINGS TO YOU AND YOURS AND EVERYBODY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND MAY YOU ALL HAVE A BETTER NEW YEAR.
