NIKON D70S CHA ERROR

I'm careful when installing the CF card yet eventually still got the dreaded CHA error. On looking inside the slot with a torch and magnifying specatcles I could not see any issue with the pins. However, after blasting it inside with some electrical contact cleaner (use the little tube as supplied and spray just as long as it takes to sweep across the pins with the slot facing downwards), my camera has come back to life! (I use Rapide brand electrical contact cleaner as it leaves no residue, and left it for a few minutes for the stuff to evaporate). IF you use a different brand test it on some freshly cleaned glass first, to make sure it leaves no residue. Good luck. Great little camera, BTW, I replaced it a few years back with a D3s but after a year or so I realised that this was much more likely to get the grab shots I like with less faffing about, and if I go full frame again, I'll be tryng the D700 next time.

Thank's a lot! Saved my camera! My son just bend some of those memory card pins and when I tryed to put it back, I smash them inside. I could recobery them easily thanks to your video! Nice music by the way!

I followed your video and found that there was no damage to the pins nor any other damage was apparent. After putting everything back together, I was able to format a 4 GB card. So I'll see how it goes. Question: where can I get the screw driver like the one you used in the video? Thanks.

I had this issue on my D70. I could see that two of the pins in the CF card slot had been bent. One was completely flattened down. I used a very small flat head screwdriver to very gently straighten the pins. Then I cautiously pushed in a CF card. On first attempt, I still had the error - that's when I found the second bent pin. I also found the CF card was faulty as there was no display after the pins were fixed. I took about 10 minutes to make sure I did this very carefully. Hope this helps someone.

check the soldering of pins carefully.. sometime when you push the pin soldering of pins desolder. do resoldering all pins and try to cleaning flex contact of back panel for no display...

+David Hiram some part of cf card slot was damaged so replace that damaged parts and slot will be as new ..

Nice job dude! Mine has a bent pin in the card slot. Is it possible to make it straight back up with a fine pair of pliers or a paper clip? 🤔

yes possible to fix it,but do it carefully ..advised 1st remove that band pin out of slot then fix it.thanks

Mine has CHA but it formats to fat16. I can still use the memory card on my laptop with no issue. Does someone know how to fix this? I use a nikon d2h. Thanks

+Ankush Mahale there may be your lcd display faulty ..if other function are ok then you should change lcd ..try to take some pic and see in pc ..let me know further
