The storytelling is as well impressive as the pics, especially I loved that of the pink spoonbill.

I started watching your videos last night because I was looking for someone who has used the Z6 and the D850 for wildlife... I came for the comparison but I stayed for content that surpasses National Geographic. The dream-like pictures, the ornithology session with humorous tidbits... you, sir, are a photographer and a professor in one. I am an amateur wildlife photographer, having used my first DSLR about a year ago but I believe I'm getting better and now your pictures just give me so much to look forward to, I hope to replicate the results you get as I carve out my own style of wildlife photography. Thank you for existing.

Mark, I just ordered your calendar and loved the video and great images. I haven't been to Corkscrew, but did take some great spoonbill pics yesterday with my D850 here on my island to the North. I love your photography, but equally your wonderful storytelling. So unique. So wonderful. Keep up the good work. Great images of the Pileated Woodpecker and what can I say about that great big glorious Roseate Spoonbill. I wish everyone could see and photograph their splendor first hand. It never gets old does it!

Love the opening...TAH DAH -the Wizard! You're so funny. My heart skipped a beat glancing at the Black and White Warbler. My number 1 pic is the second image you snapped of the Pileated Woodpecker...be still my heart...what a great head on look at it!!! I loved the other two images of it too. The frogs, snakes and alligators were all great, but nothing compares to your narrative...especially your "spooner-isms" with that lovely pink spoonbill crane! AWESOME!!!!

THANKS for the trip to Corkscrew Swamp - I try my best to get there a couple times a year, and it’s always worth it. My biggest challenge is finding enough light, especially on overcast days. I have used the D500/Nikkor 200/500 combination recently, and wonder - What’s the highest usable ISO you would recommend when the cloud cover is heavy? Also - Do you have an opinion - When light is low and you want to minimize noise, would you rather pull detail out of the RAW shadows in post, or crank up the ISO to get detail in the original exposure? THANKS as always for your work!
@MarkSmithphotography
@MarkSmithphotography 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I like trying to keep the iso at 200 or under with that combo. That is one of the reasons I went for my 500f4. Much more room in there for that. I also like to expose to the left as often as possible on the D500. It tends to blow out the highlights to easily.

Hey Mark! I just woke up so I'm a bit late for the video, but I wanted to say something. It's not the D850 capturing incredible beauty, it's you. I've seen people with Setups as good or better than yours take much worse pictures. I think we all know how humble you are so I doubt you'll ever change these titles (Well, they're informative about what's happening in the video so I guess it's a good title), but I just felt like I needed to say that you're really talented and your experience is showing, rather than it being the gear Anyway nice video as usual, Wizard Smith! Absolutely love the pictures and your huge amount of knowledge about all of these animals

It's possible to get bad photos out of a D850. I have done it many times. That's why I study Mark's videos. I need to lift my photographic game.
