The Kerala Floods took away my old Nikon D7000 and 35mm 85mm primes together with the kit lens and many other valuables. Hope to make a comeback in couple of years. But of course I'll stick on to DSLRs, don't know why. Praying that the price of full frame DSLRs :new and used; come down after Nikon stepped into spectacular Mirrorless series.

You should use this opportunity to experiment with mirrorless options. By that I mean sony. The A7III. I suppose u dont have the extra baggage of taking care of existing lenses. The nikon mirrorless is in nascent stages and are restricted either due to their technology or possible cannibalization of dslr lineup. U should try sony for, and then u may go for a later gen Nikon morrorless in future which will be more polished by then just like the sony is now.

I think we need to wait for shooting reviews with the production model.As of now i am seeing mixed reviews & it does not seem to be better the D 850 on all issues & not on few issues like lighter weight,Video capabilities etc.The price of Z7 also seem to be on the higher side.I was waiting for a model similar to Sony's A9 .From what i have seen this is certainly not a sports model

@@ChakramVijay Not only satisfied but impressed. Since I was a Nikon d7000 shooter for 2 years( though started with used body and lens). This year decided to upgrade to full frame. And mirrorless caught my eye, actually A7iii is uncomparable in its price, I have heard according to many reviewers that Silent shooting in Nikon Z series is not great as there is black out, but with Sony no problem. And I hate adapters actually ( personal opinion, and technically Mirrorless have a different focusing mechanism than Dslr). I am having only two E mount lens, 24-105 f4 and 50mm f1.8, both are good lens and just suits my work.

I embrace new technologies and applaud Nikon for going mirrorless, however I do feel these cameras are somewhat "rushed". Having just released the D850 Nikon basically cemented their legacy with DSLRs; this new "Z" line however... not so sure. On paper these are amazing cameras but I do feel that Nikon could have done much better waiting a bit longer. Nowadays is all about the bottom line: profits. Sony has been doing great with their a7 line up and have managed to shake Nikon to the point of cutting in their profit, hence the Z line is the answer to Sony. Not to say they're not great, but I do feel that later mirrorless camera releases would be much better. I'd wait to buy one.

Sir, I've always liked images a tad bit on the warmer side.. and i've noted (maybe wrongly so) that Nikon natively outputs a warmer image as compared to a Canon, that are mostly "cooler" or a bluish tinge.... is it so ? or am I wrong on this ? I guess white balance has something to do with it ?

Hi, helpful video, thanks!., i need to decide to get the Z 6 or the Z 7....just sold my d850., i know it is a great camera but i had enough of bulky gear and i like to travel light and that is why i want one of the new mirrorless Nikon...also need to say i am just an amateur photographer who shhots mainly landscape and street photography and night street phot....i like the idea that the Nikon z 6 is no so expensive as the Z 7 but my concern is if the 24MP compare to the 46 MP of the Z 7 makes a huge difference in image quality...sharpness, etc...., i need the camera only for photos and not videos...and my las question is having a 20mm 1.8g ( for landscape) a 24mm 1.4 G for night ( photog...) and 35mm 1.4 for street and a 70-200mm2.8 FL....it is worth to get this 24-70mm F4 new s lens ....i just sold my 24-70mm 2.8 VR because too heavy to walk around all day.....i though maybe sell the 24mm1.4 or the 35mm 1.4 and get this new 24-70mm f4 or just wait for a new 24-70mm new mirrorless 2.8.Anyway, i will appreciate your response and keep on with the videos, they are great!.Happy New Year!

Great! You will have a few personal likes, preferences and dislikes with every Camera make and model. I am of the opinion that all cameras are capable of creating great images. 20mm 1.8 g is great lens for street. But with regards night photography, especially sky, you should consider an aspherical lens with hard-infinity-stop. 🙏

Ideally, for landscapes, a full frame camera is preferred. The Mirrorless is good for landscapes because of the absence of of mirror vibration and improved image stabilisation. Are there any budget constraints? If yes, then also look at D750 which is a full frame but within the striking range. I also hear that D760 is just around the corner. 🙏

Yes. You can use a full frame lens on a crop camera. The effective focal length will be 1.6x times for Canon. EF 40mm f/2 STM will be a very good choice for you.

ATG suggests to go with Canon EOS-5D Mark II or without video, the 5D. The software from ATG/Canon are free, whereas the Nikon Camera Control Pro2 is $200.00. Again, ATG/Canon software allow you to view ATG Live-View as well as wireless audio/video transferring with ATG (wireless) or Atomos (tethered) equipment. If you like Nikon, do for D700. Used is very cheap. Only using Canon systems allow you to do ATG ETTL II wireless 2.4GHz flashes.

You must have never shot a paid event and had a memory card fail in some way!!!! At these PRO prices and the fact you will need to purchase extra equipment to use the N-log ONLY out the HDMI at $1000+usd. Next to no native mount lenses. This is why I am still looking at Sony more and more.

Thank you Chris... for your comments. I respect them. I've been a commercial photographer (got paid too) for more than 2 decades. (www.seeradha.com) Went Digital in 2002. But never shot with simultaneous back-up. Probably, I was naive/foolish or plain simple lucky. I never had any card failure till date. Cards have become more stable and better these day. And if you handle them properly, chances are that they won't fail. My question is, what if the camera itself fails? With regard to video, I think only Panasonic GH5s offers 10 bit 4:2:2 internally. But if you need Pro-Res, external recorders are the only option. Cheers...

It does have facial AF which should be good enough in most cases. Eye AF is useful if you do headshot portraits with shallow depth of field. In that case, you can use the Flexible Spot focus option and focus on the eye. Eye AF is a gimmick, designed for the lazy people who want a fancy point & shoot feature in a pro camera. I'm a novice, a hobbyist, and I don't feel I need it.

Nikon Z6 & Z7 Mirror-less cameras curse for wildlife photographers? 1. Loss of counter weight at the back will create serious issue while using 400mm f2.8, 500mm f4 or 600mm f4 lenses due to heavy front elements 2. Balancing 500 or 600mm f4 lenses on Gimbal heads too is difficult 3. A single XQD card slot too is an issue since no alternate cards for overflow 4. Silence shutter readout time of 1/15th of a second is too slow for action photography and can create rolling shutter when set to high shutter speed 5. Focus point clustering such as group area, dynamic area and 3D are gone which are very important for wildlife photographers 6. Introduction of OK button to engage and disengage auto-AF while tracking fast moving subjects is too cumbersome and looks rediculous 7. Initial tests by experts reveal that AF is not the best 8. Frames rate of 9 and 8 frames at 14 bit continuous shooting for Z6 and 7 respectively are absolutely no improvements either 9. More importantly Auto exposure does not work in continuous shooting over 5.5 frames per second. This means that the frame rate is 5.5 only 10. No live view over 5.5 frames per second! It is like buying a Ferrari and driving at 50km/hour speed!! 11. Highly reduced buffer is a big handicap for continuous action shooting 12. Fast dying batteries (330 shots). This means we have to carry a bagful of batteries! 13. Why pay 3400 Dollars which is higher than D850 when this camera is not even half of what D850? Any new gear should add value to the existing line-up, but this doesn't seem to be the case. may be for video and studio work.

no af-d AF functionality with the FTZ adapter,no continous AE above 5.5 fps,small buffer poor for action,no 3D tracking,one slot(unbelievable at these prices),primes are huge,cheap looking and priced high.
