I really think you and most people online are misunderstanding what Gerald undone says about the dynamic range of this camera. RAW codecs are always going to be noisier than compressed ones, the reason other manufacturers are getting better numbers is because they're applying in camera NR then compressing that further. Gerald said himself with a little bit of NR in post the Z6iii falls in line with other similar mirrorless cameras
@bamboojled89196 ай бұрын
Exactly!!! Anyone referring to the dynamic range (that doesn't under the basics that RAW codecs are going to be noisier because they are RAW and don't have noise reduction baked-in), should not be commenting on it.

@nigerian-nightmare6 ай бұрын
It's not real what he said. He was trying to be nice before you guys came after him. He mentioned that with NR in post, you can achieve around 11.5 to 12 stops. This is lower than Sony and Panasonic and almost 2 stops lower than the Fuji XH2s. He also suggested that it would be great for Nikon to introduce an updated log profile to further enhance the dynamic range of Z6III." So, for now, the dynamic range in Z6III kind of sucks.

When I look at what Canon"s two bodies to the table, which are the R1 and R5II, I say Nikon could sleep easy. Right now, Nikon has all price point bodies covered, perhaps only missing the mirrorless version of D500. I believe Nikon has turned many non-Nikon shooters to their brand. Their Z lenses to me is among the best in the world right now. It covers all focal ranges, from 14mm right up to 800mm. Looking the prices of lenses from Canon and Sony, which costs more is also a plus point for Nikon. For the past 6 months, Nikon has allowed third party lenses for their Z mount and that is a great blessing as well. I will not be surprise to read by year end that Nikon will record their best ever sales in history

Good videos mate! Nikon users are appearing very defensive in the comment section! As a former and current Nikon user who have tried Sony, Fuji and Canon mirrorless cameras, I think Sony, Canon then Nikon and Fuji in terms of reliability rating. Nikon DSLRs were one thing, but on the mirrorless side they’re playing catch up. Shooting events with A7iii and 4 is a breeze as they lock onto eyes immediately and you’re good to go! Same with inanimate objects. Canons are pretty good too and very easy to use. Coming back to Nikon, it’s not as straightforward as those two. It’s similar to Fuji in some ways. A camera company and product you want to love and support, but at a pro level you can’t risk missing the critical moments, because the AF hunted for a split second!! 🤷♂️

One thing a lot of non Nikon shooters know about the new Nikon z lenses is that most of them have little to no focus breathing. There's also little to no chromatic aberration either. Focus breathing can be an issue for landscape photographers if yet focus stack images. It makes it harder for the software to stitch it together. But it's also an issue if you shoot video. Focus breathing causes pulsing in the video. Sony and Canon have a lot of lenses with focus breathing issues. The cameras are just part of the system. Nikon has built everything around this new z mount which is the largest mount of all of them. They also have the closest phlange distance of the full frame bodies. That is what allows the engineers to develop the lenses better. Look what they did with the 135mm Plena lens. Yes some of the lenses are heavier but Nikon is going for image quality over convenience or carrying. Sony and Canon also make great cameras and lenses along with everyone else. And every brand suffered a decline after cell phone cameras got better. People don't buy cheap camera like they did in the day for things like birthday parties, family reunions, kids growing up, etc. Everybody who has a cell phone has a camera with them at all times.

Check your facts. N-RAW *is not* REDCODE RAW and has nothing to do with RED's acquisition, which was only done in April - do you have any idea much time it takes to build a camera? N-RAW, which is in Z9 and Z6III, is TicoRAW (you can look it up to see where it's coming from). Since it's compressed in a specialized chip, you won't find RED's RAW in that generation, provided it has any upside vs N-RAW, which I doubt. It's not something you can simply upgrade by firmware.
@steves1015Ай бұрын
From what I understand though, Nikon were in legal trouble because they overstepped into Red's patent with their N-RAW, and that is why the Red acquisition is a good thing.

I don't have to even watch the Video to tell everyone why this is a very IMPORTANT camera for Nikon. All their Cropped sensor cameras are becoming severely outdated by comparison to the competition. I highly doubt the Z9 is currently having big sales due to the success of the Nikon Z8. But even on Sale, The Z8 it's rarely a Best Seller and or Top Seller anymore. Doubts are that Nikon will even Replace the Z7ii. So with the year almost Half over, what the sales of the Nikon Z6iii becomes or NOT could indeed be the most Important Camera for Nikon, Right Now. What else does anything think they will do this YEAR.

You keep on saying behind Sony do you even remember when we adopted Canon and Nikon Mount lenses on Sony Crappy Sony colors , crappy back non touch screen , color shifting pics and evf, half baked image stabilization, 8bit cropped video with no lock in focus and worse ergonomic. First you need to stop being Fan boy when reviewing products 1: Nikon has one of The largest lens Collection 1950 onwards F Mount lenses even when you remove Ai versions and much more affordable than Sony’s There is a reason people use Nikon for wildlife and Sony users adopt Nikon F Mount bird/ airplane photography lenses do you know WHY because Sony is missing crucial lenses dahhh. Vibration control and Image stability is the best in Nikon neither Canon nor Sony even come close I bet you didn’t rest that by sitting on the desk. Nikon has far better autofocus in video recording plus has been class leading in video mode since launching mirrorless cameras. Ergonomic are not subjective Nikon and Canon Cameras are the best period Sony doesn’t even come close. Touch to focus and touch class leading in Nikon Weather sealing class leading in Nikon Well layed out buttons that all old generations owners can relate to plus customizable. Ohhh let me tell how about you buy a Nikon 17-35 2.8 that Sony users use to adapt or 17-55 2.8 or the 16-80 2.8-4 orrrr the 16-35 F4 F Mount that is if you can’t afford the legendary 14-24 2.8 or the 14-30 F4 Z Mount personally I’d take 20mm 1.8 any day or the 16mm Viltrox 1.8 or 20mm 1.8 for $250 and move my legs if I crave this range So may I say what the H**l are you talking about! 😂 I guess I’m a Nikon fanboy lol did I forget that Nikon color contrast 3D pop you can’t get it on Sony yeah you can sit for an hr to fix in post if your time is not meaningful to you. Plzzzz I know you put a lot of work into creating video YT content better be non biased.

Well well, it's 2500 Dollars in the US and 3000€ (!) in the EU. It's way, way more expensive than the z6 and z6ii at launch. I'm not buying it right now. For 2500€ it would've been a no brainer...

Nikon fills a market segment where previous models were not competitive against the competition. But is it too late? In recent years, many photographers and photo enthusiasts have chosen to abandon the brand in favor of Sony, Canon, and Fuji. It's evident that since the production of mirrorless cameras began, Nikon has fallen behind. The new Nikon Z6 III seems to be an excellent camera on paper. Personally, I've always used Nikon, with their extraordinary DSLRs. I've also worked with the Nikon Z6 II professionally, but I found it unreliable for eye detection autofocus, etc. Consequently, I switched to Sony and, staying in the same segment, I find the Sony 7 IV exceptional. Moreover, Sony's lens lineup is very extensive. Despite Nikon's high-quality build, viewfinder, and display, I won't go back. I think too much importance is given to technology. Personally, what I look for in a professional camera is reliable autofocus, quality, and feel. With Sony, for years, I've been able to get what I had with Nikon DSLRs. I still hope that Nikon achieves the success it deserves with this new camera, but I think the competition is very fierce and that it's difficult for those who have switched to other brands to decide to go back, especially for economic reasons.

Sorry but Nikon mirrorless development has been less than ideal, especially with their lenses. People will combat it but weight alone, then the 50mm Noct, and putting 1.8 S lenses out before 1.4 is quite comical if you ask me. Oh and their overall design? Cmon they’re absurd how big they are. Remember the Nifty 50 from Canon? Why in gods name is a 50mm 1.8 so effing big? I say this because I would LOVE to get back into Nikon but there is really. Nothing seriously compelling for me to change back from Sony. I left before they had the Z6ii which was a “step in the right direction” but comparatively, their lens selection is heavier, less robust and their bodies were still behind in AF in comparison. Look, I’ve used every camera brand and Nikon, as a whole, has not been a stand out in Mirrorless in my honest opinion.

The dynamic range hit will def not age well, when the a7v or the R6iii is to be released after this (providing they can also shoot raw then)
@bamboojled89196 ай бұрын
The low dynamic range HAS been debunked... by Gerold Undone himself in that very same video... in RAW, the camera shows less dynamic range to cameras that don't have RAW, however, that is because the Raw files do not have any baked-in noise reduction, and once you add the same level of noise reduction that the competition has baked in the non-RAW files, the Nikon is equivalent and in some cases better. Again, Gerold Undone explains this perfectly, and shows the proof, but it is easier to be lazy and just parrot one part of his comments without taking into account everything else he said about it right after.

Nikon Australia is ripping off Australian consumers.... RRP $2500usd converted to AUD is approx $3740aud. Yet Z6iii being sold in Australia for $4499!!
@davidwood56636 ай бұрын
I noticed that too. Seems like an Australian market tactic for new releases, then after initial enthusiast sales are exhausted the price will drop. Currently one can buy a Sony A7RV for the same AUD4500 price, that is not helping Nikon for potential brand switchers.

Why are Nikon shooters so sensitive and quick to bully anyone who says something negative about Nikon cameras? You all need to relax. It's great that Nikon is finally catching up, but once Sony and Canon announce their new lineups, Nikon will likely fall behind again. I know I will be getting Z6III just to be able to shoot 6k60 RAW initially like my Black Magic. Other than that, this camera has nothing to offer; other cameras have not been doing for years now.
