Thank you so much for a very refreshing review that really tested out the capabilities of the P950 on real wildlife subjects. I am so tired of the many "review videos" that treated the P950 like a telescope and showing nothing except shaky videos or far away hazy scenaries.

The P950 seems to me to be a beefed up version of a Nikon B700, which I own. Nice presentation and a nice straight forward look at what this camera can do. It was nice to see the way you used the camera on wildlife and nearby scenery, rather than how it's done by others, with the inevitable zooming in at something 20 miles away and then complaining about how crappy the image is. Great work!

Thank you Bill, all my reviews are based on general use and how I would use a specific product in what I do. I really like the P950 over the P1000 and the P900. As I have owned all of them. I think Nikon nailed this one for an optimal bridge camera. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the info, I got a P1000 to do 4K vids. I have a Canon 8000D (rebel 760, 1080p max) with a 150-600mm sigma lens. They are pretty comparable, but I will put the Canon slightly ahead of the P1000 in general, but you know there are times where its so close, even the P1000 seems better some times, and the zoom out of the box is better than zooming the 1080p canon vids in editing in terms of getting the job done. I have two vids on my channel to compare them on pretty similar shots on the same day, same time so you can judge for yourself. Hope that helps for those interested

Hi really nice video, i’m a beginner in the photography and i just bought a Coolpix P950, how do you get that sharpness and details in the 5:05 shot? That crocodile eye zoom. For now i’m using the auto mode, have you used the manual mode with some settings? Please help me, sorry for the english i’m from Italy.

Spot metering, manual focus and Manual mode. Auto mode will only give you a general evaluative focus, aperture and shutter speed. Hope that helps

@@DaleMrDSimmons Thanks for the answer, switch to manual mode ok, but how can i do the manual focus? I heard that the big wheel on the left under the microphone jack it's for adjust the focus, but in reality when i move that wheel it changes the exposure, how can i do the manual focus?

@@DaleMrDSimmons Thank you. As for my bird photography approx. 1000mm focal length are enough compared to DSLR/DSLM cameras. Therefore the Canon SX70 is more handy and the camera specs are the same as the Nikon P950. Would be interesting to compare the autofocus between both cameras.

Is the p950 usable without a tripod? Or maybe with a monopod/hiking pole? Considering the extra weight and zoom of this vs the lighter Panasonic z80 and canon sx70. I want at least 1000mm so that eliminates a lot of the other models

Why do you think this is better than the FZ80?
@DaleMrDSimmons2 жыл бұрын
There are several reasons. Mainly, 1200 optical vs 2000 on the p950. The fz has a fixed lcd where the 950 is fully articulated. Higher quality glass. Just to mention a few. I do own the G7 which is a great consumer camera for my on kayaking videos which I prefer over the P950.
