I’m so embarrassed to admit that I have been using Nikon camera for upwards of 10 years, (both DSLR and mirrorless), and have mainly always worked in auto mode and have relied heavily on post-editing. Thanks to this channel, my photography skills have improved by leaps and bounds in the past year 100% thanks to this channel. I am so grateful for your videos!!!

Thanks Paul. I find your tips really useful and a good reminder of some of the things I forget like turning off VR when using a tripod. Nice that you don't concentrate on mirrorless, and your tips work for my D5300 .

I'm so happy I found your site, I had somehow turned on my auto ISO on my Nikon D800e & could not figure out how to turn it off, because I also watched your video on Shutter speed & you mentioned that in order to set my shutter the right way, I would need to set my own ISO, so now I can do what you suggested & I ' thank you' !!! Love your channel 😻

Paul, as someone once said we seldom need teaching but we frequently need reminding! Another good option to set on D3xxx and D5xxx (can't speak for others) is "Slot empty release lock" in the Setup menu. When set to "Lock" you can't fire the shutter unless a memory card is inserted.

Another great video. As usual no remarks on the clarity or style of the video, yet lately some videos really give me this déjà vu feeling. I'm a great fan of the channel and therefore have watched many of your older videos. As a result, these last videos cover many tips that were already mentioned in an earlier video. Would love to see some really new content on subjects that have not yet been covered. For example: how to use the different light meter settings (matrix, centre, spot) and how to apply them in different scenarios. Keep up the good work! You're a great teacher and your work is inspiring!
@photogenius

Hi Laurens, I really appreciate your feedback. In regards to content, I do plan very carefully what I share, hopefully getting the balance right. The stats tell me that currently there are more than double the number of new viewers compared to returning visitors like yourself. This is of course good for channel growth but does mean I will occasionally put out new videos that may contain content that has been previously covered. A video about the light meter settings is a great suggestion (thank you) and is on the list of future videos, I also have some other exciting projects coming up that I really hope you will enjoy. Best wishes and thanks for the support. Paul.

Hi Paul, great video as usual. Thanks for the wonderful tips you shared. I have a Nikon D3400 and despite several attempts to find, I am not able to locate the feature that turns on the 2×2 grid useful in following the 'rule of thirds'. Neither TTL nor LV. Would you please guide me on this ? Thank you.

Nice video, Paul! An important reminder, allthough it's important due to modern cameras unlogical layout. On any SLR prior to 1985 there's no need for a video on how to set shutterspeed, apperture and ISO.

Yep, and with ISO set by the film type, you had one less thing to adjust. Thanks for watching.

@@photogenius Interesting. 🤔 I have offificially been schooled, and not too proud to admit it. 😔 Your content is awesome. Just now came across your videos and have subbed. Quite an impressive and broad array of content! I’m a recent retiree and am getting back into hobby photography after about 10 yrs away due to work, family, life, etc. I have a Nikon D50 (which I still love), thinking about a D5600, and I have Nikkor 28-105mm and 70-300. Excited to get back into it and try some new things. I just learned about HDR from another of your videos, and also want to try focus stacking. I love landscape, nature and street/architecture photography. I was a fan of Alfred Eisenstadt and duplicated some of his Martha’s Vineyard photos from an early book of his. Not a bad way to learn. Cheers!
