The Nikon Z50 is always promoted as a casual user's camera - something that professionals should avoid. And I have certainly not heard of anyone advocating it for wildlife photography, a genre that's often recommended to pursue with the latest and greatest cameras with their latest and greatest technologies. But I've used this to create some of my favourite wildlife photographs, and I certainly think this camera is capable of handling professional work to a certain degree.

In 90s there were no IBIS but there were exceptional photographers! It's all about the skill you learn ❤️ Great video

Screen tilted down helps with taking selfies. That's one of the reasons why I love this camera. There's not so many people vloging, average consumer is not content creator.

Nice video! Between the Z6ii and the D7500, which has the best AF in your opinion? Because I own both cameras and I find it hard to figure that out.

Your photos are superb! I own a zfc (eq. Z50 but with a more useful screen) and a 200-500mm I use mostly with my D500. I think I should use the 200-500mm on thr zfc to try!
@TerenceSzeto

I think that would be great to try - especially if you want to use the back LCD screen to shoot instead of the viewfinder :)

@@TerenceSzeto the LCD tilt screen is perfect for macro fungi or flowers photography as it can be hold vertically, also! Like on the zf or the z8, but cheaper.

Every point here is a commonplace. For me Z50 is a camera that makes my backpack with all 6 lenses inside much lighter.

First, great shots regardless of the body used and solid advice/perspective. Good luck with full frame far reach on a budget compared to a crop body. You don't need the larger sensor with modern tech, the sensor in the Z50, and quite a bit more, is from the D7500, which was already years old. Just like how Sony waited around a decade to put a true new sensor in their crop bodies. Fuji proves there's plenty of room for progress in smaller sensors, it's just the big 3 would rather make a lot more money pushing ff glass over native APS-C glass. The difference in cost to get something like 600-800mm of reach in crop vs ff is pretty big, especially if we're taking native glass that cost less to produce thanks to requiring less glass and over all construction materials. It would be great to get a true Z80 that is a Z8 mini with the required stripped features to push people to the big body. I'd pick up that hypothetical Z80 to possibly replace my current load out thanks to third party hard carrying Z DX. I don't have the room to lug FF glass around during work traveling to remote areas and villages, so I stick with MFT and an fp L in crop mode a majority of the time with the option of a great high resolution ff sensor... That I then leave in medium size most of the time getting the same resolution files around 26mp. It's hard to beat an Olympus 75mm f1.8 for what I do in size and weight. That's a bright 150mm equivalent of reach that let's me get authentic lifestyle properties without being a distraction. For wildlife I usually use the 100-400 Olympus since I don't really go past a hobby for super zooms (still 200-800 plus tc's isn't bad).

absolutely yeah i agree! I love the reach with crop sensors (and sometimes miss my old micro four thirds panny as well).

Is the Z6ii a good buy in 2024 what with an alleged upgrade coming out? I am strictly invested in Nikon glass but I think all the potential bells and whistles on the Z6iii won't be worth it for me because I'll likely never use them. Currently using the Z50 (love it) but would like to go full frame with a few more pixels, plus it is pretty evident that Nikon is in no rush to put out a D500 level crop sensor. I am strictly amateur and enjoy shooting birds. It seems wildlife photography and Z6ii are rarely used in the same sentence in a favorable way.

If you're mostly shooting photos - i think i'd stick with the z6ii. Unless you require much better video, or much better autofocus (think birds in flight), then the z6iii makes more sense.
