I primarily bought the Nikon Z50II to be my KZbin studio camera. But I’m finding I use it for a lot of other things now, it’s a great little camera. I have another Z50II video coming out soon, showing how I use the Z50II for filming myself in the studio for KZbin videos. I’ll be sharing my gear set up and settings, stay tuned 🙏📸

Great review, I'm an ex professional photographer and bought the twin lens kit and I've been seriously impressed especially with the 50~250mm. No ibis, no problem ( photo not video) , never had it and don't miss it. 20 mega pixel is fine for most uses. No RAW for pre capture is a shame. Battery is not great but third party batteries and chargers work fine. Too many D500 die hards comment on the z50ii but the D500 is still a superb camera. The z50ii is my first mirrorless camera and I'm more impressed than I probably should be. 😂 Fantastic walkabout camera that gets great results!

Thank you for taking the effort in creating this video Adrian! I would really love to see a comparison of the photos taken from Z50ii, Z6iii and the Z8. I’d appreciate if you can do this comparison in future. Thanks again! Keep the z50ii content coming!

Certainly an upgrade I would look at for my Nikon z50 Adrian. I think the upgrades do push it closer to my Z8 so would make a great second camera. Nicely done mate!👌👌👍👍

Hi Adrian, really an interesting video. Design has in general become a very point at gear to me. But for me it is not all about how beautiful it looks, but more how handy it makes the tool. Cool that you made that even the first point in your video. 😊 Thank you for the video, buddy! Enjoy your Sunday, Christian

I'm trying to decide between this and the cheaper Z30. I'm not bothered about the evf but I think the Z50ii will have better AF and video specs because of the more powerful processor.

Magnificent video Adrian. Thanks for sharing. Congratulations on the KZbin channel almost from the Antipodes. I have a Nikon D850 and a Nikon D7500 with several brand lenses. I'm deciding between buying the Nikon z50II or waiting for the possibleNikon z90. Greetings from Spain.

I am hobbyist photographer and own the original Nikon z50 with both kit lenses. I use my Z50 while traveling (great travel camera) on vacation, family events and chasing the grandkids. I thought about upgrading to the new z50II, but the lack of IBIS and the awful battery life is why I haven’t The upgrade to a better AF is big plus, but I am not a wildlife or sports photographer so for me this is not a big deal. I think Nikon missed the boat on this upgrade. They are definitely behind their competition with Canon R7 and Sony A6700. In order for Nikon to compete they need to introduce a D500 replacement hopefully in a Z5 body that uses the larger battery, include IBIS, higher megapixels sensor and maybe 2 card slot. With the rumors of new Canon R7 mark II, Nikon needs to get to work. Looking forward to your next video.

Very condensed and informative video, as always :). I agree that range of DX zoom lenses is very limited, to be honest there are no decent zoom lenses at all. I waited long time for Z versions of Tamron's 11-20/2.8 and 16-70/2.8, but I lost my hope and returned to photograpy with primes (thank you Viltrox) as I used to in my analog times. I've bought Z50 II for bird photography (I use it with Tamron 150-500), because it has many advantages if compared to my Zfc, which I use for landscape and portraits. What I disagree with is battery life. Of course on paper it doesn't look optimistically and I have spare two, but I'm able to return home with 1000 shots on one battery. I'm not using back display, it is constantly closed, maybe that's the reason?

Thanks for watching. Yes, not having the rear LCD live view screen makes a significant difference in battery power.

Received mine yesterday with z180-600 to upgrade from D7500 & Sigma 150-600. Majority of my photography is wildlife, mainly birds so worth it for bird detection etc. and thought it was time to move with the times and go mirrorless.

Had this thing existed a year ago, when I moved from Nikon DSLR to a DSLM system I would not have went for MFT, but fot this one I think. Not that I would make the change now, since I am already invested in the system and the IBIS is just so nice to have I won't want to miss it anymore.

I have a D850 and will keep it for landscape but for daily trips with the dog the D850-24-120 F4 combo is way to heavy and instable. The Z50ii with the 16-50mm will always be in my pocket now. I have the Z50ii with both kit lenses, this morning first try with the dog (teckel -> small and quick) and the 50-250mm. It was really dull this morning but I had 75% keepers. No way to achieve this with the D850 (for me, other may be way better!). Its a little bit hart to understand (and find Your way) all the settings but this camera is really really FUN to use. Thank You Nikon. II may buy the 24mm for street photo and a FTZ adapter to try the 80-200 f2.8 AF-S on it (no idea if this is a good idea and if the old AF-S will follow ...) ... but its not stabilized whereas the 50-250 is and I does not mention the weight ...

Thanks for the great info Adrian.... Is the lack of a top LCD info display a problem? As a D500 user I think we are still awaiting a true mirrorless replacement for that legendary DSLR.
@adrianalfordphotography7 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching. I use the Z50II as my studio camera and for the odd bit of bird photography. I don't need a top LCD for that, so it doesn't bother me.
@grahamniven7 күн бұрын
There's no need for a top display, the screen and EVF show all the info you're going to need.

I'm waiting for z50ii and 24mmf1.7 coming tmr. I tried Fuji XM5. it's cheaper and has amazing spec, but autofocus not reliable. I returned it and get this z50ii

I was thinking about the z50ii combined with some sort of low f zoom lens for taking indoor pictures of my daughter's performing arts, I've had a Nikon B700 for years and years now and while its great for outdoor nature photos with the super-zoom capability (it's more of a point and shoot camera on steroids) it doesn't do well at all for indoor sport type movements. I also don't have a ton of money to spend and I've never owned a "real" camera before. So I'm very unsure. Nikon's lenses are limited and more expensive though too, but I see there is a FTZ adapter for these cameras that enable use of most older DSLR lenses. There's so many choices in cameras it makes my head spin.
@adrianalfordphotography5 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching. It's a tough decision when deciding on a new camera. I suggest keep looking at other cameras on the market. Maybe check out some KZbin videos of photographers taking photos of indoor sports and check out the gear they use.

Was thinking of this camera to replace my tired d300s for shooting my sons football. Is the autofocus that good? Tried the original z50 was disappointed. Will be using 70 - 200 f2.8 with adapter

I think we would all like more from our cameras but have to remember they are in a line where price to performance matters and they can't give away too much because noone would buy the other products in the line.

Here is one massively annoying bug I just discovered with the Z50II. If you set it to a timer but have the screen flipped out/down for a selfie style shot… the damn thing gives a 2 second delay regardless of the timer you have set. 20sec timer with the screen flipped around… nope. 2 seconds. Seriously cuss worthy flaw.
@adrianalfordphotography4 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience. Actually the Z50II has 3 x timer settings for doing selfies with the LCD screen facing forward and flipped out. 1. No timer 2. 2 secs & 3 10 secs (with a countdown in top right corner). I think I might make a quick tutorial video so people can be made aware. Cheers for bringing it to my attention 👍
@speedbumpmedia95844 күн бұрын
@ that’s annoying that it disregards the setting because you flip the screen. I wondered if that was the case and tried the touch screen in selfie mode but nothing… and with the controls in back and the camera mounted and flipped for portrait I was like “screw it!”

@igorgofman There are actually a lot of reasons to upgrade, and it is vastly superior.
@Sam-jg5zv6 күн бұрын
Unless you shoot mainly wildlife or sport, there’s no reason to upgrade. The worse battery life actually makes it less convenient.
