You brought up your presets in this video, which are still my favorite Lightroom presets, and really the only ones that I use with any regularity. I just wanted to suggest that you create a package of color grading presets. I recently came across Mark Dumbleton's Lightroom presets, and he has a free black and white Lightroom preset package, which includes seven color grading presets. He intended the presets to be used to shape the black and white image, but I have been really happy with the subtle changes they make to my Nikon D850 color images. The changes are very subtle (which is a rarity with Lightroom presets), and they don't make the image look at all unrealistic (which, again, to me, is a positive thing, and a welcome reprieve), but they can completely transform the mood of the image (and help it to pop). Less important, but something I took note of, they almost have the ability to make Nikon images look like Sony images, etc. Color grading is a very important step in the photo editing process, and having a preset package of maybe 12-20 subtle, but effective color grading Lightroom presets that are put together by an academically minded photographer such as yourself would help photographers who are comfortable making exposure adjustments, but less comfortable with color grading their shadows, midtones, and highlights, etc. Best wishes.

For stills the original Z6 is best bang for our buck if you're not needing auto eye tracking for sorts or wildlife. Nikon has been perfect for pro video since the Z9 was released.

@@SimonBurnCreative True, I meant in the 2k range.

IMO For stills you can just buy an old DSLR and a bunch of vintage lenses, and you'll be absolutely golden in terms of "bang for buck" because the whole kit will most probably be cheaper, than one Z-mount lens.

Unfortunately the price is SIGNIFICANTLY higher , 3000 Euro in Germany - that is a lot of money in my opinion ! ( one could buy 3 used Nikon Z6II, or 1 used Z7II and some nice lenses ! for that money !!! )

If you compare it only to the Z6/Z6 II, then yes, it is.

Bottom line - for new cameras the only thing that’s going to change 90 percent of most shots/video image quality is the autofocus. In this price range it’s just starting to get close to 2 year old Canon’s and Sony’s. Why has Nikon not been able to put digital hot shoes on any of there full frame cameras when other brands have had for years. No shutter cover ?

Bottom line- You don't have a clue. Just keep shooting your sony. 😂

@@jbilly24 5 other brands of cameras have had digiital hot shoes for years - Nikon hasn’t figured out how to put them on any of their cameras ? No sensor cover on a brand new $2000+ interchangeable lens camera (you’ll keep your repair shop in business). Nikons were great. 10 years ago. Lol. 😂

Sony took under 5 years to bring out the A7iii. Nikon has taken about 6 years to bring out the Z6iii with useable auto focus. But they could have done this sooner, about the the same as when they brought out the Z8. Canon was able to nail auto focus early as they had the experience from the M series. But Nikon didn’t seemed to learn anything about auto focus from the Nikon 1 experience.

In hybrid category nikon is still lagging in MP. They are jumbled in stills and video cameras. Af is still catching up to a7c level for Z6iii.

It’s 2024 and Nikon doesn’t have 3 command dials yet. Pentax, yes Pentax, has since 2016…. I can’t commit to buying another Nikon until they do.
