That's what happens when you cut out Coolpix, and all the DSLR bodies and lenses. The new viewfinders are cheaper to make. Most of the batteries are lower capacity. They've cut out power bricks for the most part. They did a lot of cutting by pretty much killing off the entry level market that smartphones captured. The APS-C line is still pretty slim. They've focused mostly on FX bodies and lenses. They're still using old sensor technology but optimizing them to the max and beyond. I think ai was also able to help them cut staff. So that's good for the company, not so much for someone needing to put food on the table. They're getting a lot of money from their lens technology making glass for other brands.

My bank account also not. But i guess Nikon would hit it with this one - a baby Z8 is all i'd really appreciate & love, since the Z8 came out. The EVF does have a nice upgrade, too. (vs. Z8/Z9 bodies) If the AF is with the Z6 III onto Z8/Z9 level, also the new 24.5 MP Sensor really optimized for low light, what's not to like? Only the rumored price into germany (3K EUR!) is very high - but then, it could being called at least enthusiast, if not semipro body. Hope Nikon doesn't forget also the Z5 II perhaps into Fall/Winter 2024, or spring 2025...as entry level Z body. Anyway, the Z-system does have with the 24-70/F4 S-lens is a fine zoom lens, for all purpose usage. No other brand does offer a 24-70 this good, for that asking price - i mean 2nd hand like new. Canon's 24-105/F4 L RF is *much* more expensive. And Sony...i would go either way for the 20-70/F4 G zoom, or the all new Sigma 24-70/2.8 ART Mark II - nothing less, seriously. And the weather sealing, the optics in front of the EVF is that good, i've the A7, A7 II...the EVF is horrible, any 2018 Nikon Z6 is so much better via EVF, than this crap from Sony, sorry to say. Weathersealing even of the Z5 is Z6/Z7 Level, i've seen worse tests about the A7(R)III back into the heyday. My guess is (being a Nikon shooter since the mighty Nikon FM) the Z6 III would be a home run for Nikon, and kick ass ! But i do shoot all gear brands, have Canon, Sony, Minolta, Yashica, Olympus, etc. too. Every once into a while, brand xyz brings out a great one, or even game changer momentum. Which is great, because it pushes the competition, to get better - and so on...an neverending process, for the better, "Kaizen" if you will this way.
