Such a good camera. Excited to see where Nikon goes from here after the RED acquisition. My only complaint is for the love of GOD give us a proper LUT preview/import option. The built in "viewassist" is hot garbage and something you'd expect to see on the entriest of entry level video camera. When I'm at exposure levels I like for the recommended CST grade the built-in viewassist makes it looks 3 stops over

I switched a few months ago. The only thing I hate: you cannot access the full sensor if you’re using an S35 lens, but you can do the inverse.

Great video and great camera! How was your experience switching from photo mode (A) to video mode (M)? It seems like the settings are retained automatically between the two. Setting up custom profiles feels a bit cumbersome. Also, have you noticed any processing in RAW images when importing them into Lightroom? I’ve observed slight changes in highlights and shadows, along with a noticeable amount of noise reduction in the RAW files.

Crazy to see the modes. Most people shoot 3840 x 2160…and to get no crop you only have 422 10bit. Kinda weird modes…never seen anyone show all that so massive thanks for that 💪 Was a huge Nikon fan for years, was an NPS member even, and this is still a beast of a camera, Nikon is becoming the camera all of us creators look at, but never buy…still love my lumix cameras more. 😉

Jason, you just get better and better and you make great videos. The only thing I would say is come on mate, get with the program and start doing HDR workflows and explanations. This is an amazing camera offering 12 bit so why crop it to Rec.709. And before you say, it’s hard, and things don’t display it, both KZbin and Vimeo now display HDR content really well knowing what the user device can deal with and delivering accordingly. iPads, Mac pros and even iPhones all display in a way that you can edit in HDR and all TVs these days can deal with it. You should give it a go like Pascal did. He’s a KZbinr in Thailand who initially gave me the response you want to give me but now he’s producing all his videos in HDR. Just my humble opinion and given on a Muppet in skill level, if I can do it, you certainly can mate.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve had people talk about how much they dislike HDR content as it “looks weird” to them. Might be something I consider when it’s more wide spread

I'm probably going to buy the Z8 over the Z6 III just because it has the tilt screen. I have a Z6 and Zfc and the flip out screen on Zfc is annoying as hell to use vs. tilt screen on Z6. Also I have a D300s which is slightly heavier than Z8, and D7100 which is lighter at 759g and the heavier D300s feels awesome to use!

I am the owner of Z8/Z9. For me, Z8 is a perfect device for taking photos. But Z8 has several flaws in video. 1: Overheating of CFB card. Its heat dissipation capacity is really not exaggerated. As long as you install CFB card in the camera, even if you take photos but not videos, you can feel the heat at the handle after a while. The weather is getting hotter and hotter all over the world. If you take it to work outdoors in summer, the temperature will be prompted in yellow within 20 minutes. For process-based work, it is not competent. PS: Overheating problem does not exist on Z9/Z6III. Z6III 2: In NRAW-NLOG, the waveform display is defective. 0-15% of the information is locked. The information of your waveform cannot be displayed 100%. Simply put, your shooting content is before 15-100%. Not 100% In H264 H265 ProRes or In NRAW, as long as NLOG is used, there will be such a problem. PS: Same for Z9/Z6III 3: The support for external monitors is very strange. Red has recently developed 4 LUTs. It has at least fixed the problem of restoring materials in DaVinci. There will be no overexposure problem after applying LUT. But the strange thing is that these official LUTs cannot be used on external monitors. You can install and use them, but the official LUT will make you see very strange pictures. The entire output feels like it is coated with a layer of gray. But you can apply Sony's LUT or Panasonic's LUT to use it. This will cause errors in the waveform graph you observe in the monitor. But if you don't apply LUT, although the information of your waveform graph is correct, you can't use the gray film to confirm whether the on-site shooting starts with the correct required picture effect. PS: Same for Z9/Z6III Thanks to Jason Morris for the video introduction. I also like Nikon. The reason why I haven't sold my Z89 is that I hope it can eventually update a good Log and solve various problems with monitors and overheating. Otherwise, I can only use it to take pictures.

A7V is base model.. Z8 competes with A7RV .. Even A7RV can't match the specs.. Z9 competes with A1... If you are looking for the 2500 dollar price range, get the Z6III.. A7V won't be matching its specs anyway. Everyone will go on about the Sony AF, but Nikon is good enough now. If you don't get good photos now, it's your fault now and not the camera..
@JasonMorrisphotocinemaКүн бұрын
Really similar to be fair. 8k 60fps is quite nice in this. The A7RV flip screen is a champion feature though
