Thanks gang for another great show, the Z8 Hype is getting amped up pretty quickly which is exactly what Nikon wants. If they do a teaser campaign I hope it's 1 video per day for 5 consecutive days max., then have the formal announcement and start taking orders.

I will immediately buy the Z8 as soon as it becomes available to pre-order....I don't think I have the patience for a teaser programme though! Just let me order the dam thing! lol :-)

I'm waiting for the Z8 release. It means lots of D850s in the used camera market and prices come down. I'm ready for a D850!

Thanks for your thoughts on the CV 40 f1.2 vs 50 f1. Even just from the KZbin I thought the 50 had some more magic, I can only imagine printed out. Personally I am thinking about one of the two but it really may come to budget.

You often discuss the Voigtlander lenses, but not the Voigtlander 58mm f1.4. Is it just too old? It seems like it is worthy of comparison.

I don't think it's bad news for Nikon that leaks are happening, as it has created some excitement again for the brand in the past few days. And when they're literally the last company to release a competitive body in that segment, I'm not sure what all the secrecy is about! You keep your cards close to the chest when you are the first to make a move, but when you have the last move, what's the point? In any case, I am excited and I do hope that we get something official sooner rather than later.

We are not aware of anything, but Kon uses leica mount Voigtlander 28mm f/2 ultron on his Z6 via adapter and it performs really well.

If the rumors are true it will be a great camera. The price is high enough it will curb the backorders some I would think. Especially since many of these buyers already have the Z9. So get your preorders in and maybe shipping wont be so bad. For those Z9 owners looking for a smaller camera are you ok paying $5000 to lose a few ounces ?

It's almost certainly going to be at or under $4,000 when you take into account Euro pricing includes a 20% VAT. So that's a $1,500 difference for a smaller form factor.

Hm. As for the Voigtländers: I have the 50 and the 35. The 40 is on order, and I expect it in the next days. These lenses are something very special. If I want to go the safe way, I take my Z8 with the excellent Nikon glass, ie. the 135 Plena or the 105 Macro. But if I want to enjoy the process of shooting, I take the Zf with either the Voigtländer 50 1.0 or the 35 2.0, or my very old F-Mount Nikkor 28mm 2.0. I do expect the Voigtländer 40mm 1.2. to be very enjoyable too. For street I'm expecting it will live in well populated niche for me....;-)

Zed 8 or Zed 7mk3??🤔 I was hoping for a high-res body for studio work, based around the A7Rv sensor perhaps. However, what we appear to be faced with is an upgraded Zed 7mk2. Whilst I appreciate that is probably a little more to it than that, but based on the leaked specs then the Zed 8 certainly treads on the toes of the Zed 7 line. I look forward to being able to use one, so will reserve my final judgement until then.

It is likely that the only way the Z8 would deliver better AF at a distance is if they increased the number of AF points and reduced their size. This is one of the key differences between the Z9 and A1. I was one who hope the Z9 would receive this change as a firmware update.

Have you tried the “pinpoint AF” mode, which has a tiny focus area? I’ve bought 7 Z cameras and I am unaware of a distant focus issue!!

As a rumor: It will be a Z8.5 >with 85mB sensor, Expeed8 5x CPU, a brand new 8 roots 5 levels MenuSystem >>>>>>> and the announcement will be on August 5th (they deemed Z8 was too old tech)

I’m starting to believe the rumors that the Z8 is a mini Z9, same camera more or less but slightly lower FPS and no vertical grip. I think y’all’s idea of a high res 60MP camera might come in the form of a Z7iii. More average speed but higher res for that model.

Seems like a dumb idea for a camera because what exactly are they going to do for a z7 iii now? Same sensor, same processor? So basically 3 cameras with the same internals just dumbed down from the z9? Seems silly

z7 45.7mp z7 mk2 45.7mp z9 45.7mp come on nikon you can do better using the same 45.7mp in my opinion is crazy and annoying im sure you will get a heavy discount for thise sensors so atleast bring the price to an affordable level no ones a hundred percent sure but what i big dissapointment those with z9 sell them now cos your camera wont be worth having

Having just purchased a SonyA7iv I can categorically disagree! The build quality is no comparison to Nikon, the vertical grip is a complete joke in that it’s fit tolerance is appalling and cannot be bolted up firmly , despite have had to take a brand new camera to fixation for the tripod mount to be replaced under warranty on a brand new camera. Having shot Nikon for more than 40 years I can without reservation state Sony build and ergonomics do not compare.
