How do you sharpen those blades? Ive tried angle grinder with a polishing type wheel. Whats the best tool to do it with? I cant afford a $70 head.

Go to redrockstore.com and click on ice blade sharpening. Scroll down and find Frank Deluca's contact info. He's who you send the head (red part only) to for sharpening. You can't sharpen on your own. Special jig is used.

I got one last winter, and it takes a massive amount of downpressure to cut, even 10" down the hole. Is this operator error, or should I send the head off to Frank?

Send it to Frank. A sharp Nils pulls the driller down the hole, almost.

Who’s frank? My Nils 6in blade is not cutting due to hitting some ground at GE bottom of the ice ..

ya sounds like one blade is sharp one is not. get replacements or get sharpened. Make sure both blades are on the same opposite tilt

i got a old Finbore Normark. its got removable triangular blade and offset handles. nils isnt the only one with this design.

Well, technically Nils is the ONLY remaining one of this design. You won't be finding a new Finnbor ever, anywhere. They don't exist.

@@ElyresortBlogspot sadly. i hit some earth in the middle of my lake TWICE. those triangular blade are such a bitch to sharpen its hell. i havent tried a similar size flat blade yet. is there a big difference in cutting?

@@Francois_Dupont I dunno. finnbore has been extinct for so long, I've never used one. Nils are tough to beat. I no longer sell them but if you can find one, get one.
