I feel like the DK redesign could be a hint at a big new Donkey Kong game. Think about it-why would they completely update DK's look just for a Mario Kart character? It makes more sense if they’ve already developed a major new DK game and updated his design across the board for consistency. Plus, remember all the recent DK promotions: his big role in the Mario movie, the DK theme park expansion, and the Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Remaster. It feels like they're building up to something big, doesn’t it? There was also a rumor at one point about a new 3D Donkey Kong game being in development. Maybe this is it.

Maybe we will get Karts that have certain advantages depending on the type of ground they’re driving on. Rosalina’s kart could be unaffected by ice for example. That would also explain why Mario is the only one that got that boost aura. His kart could have the special ability that he gets stronger boosts from these boosters.

Pretty sure that “item box” is actually a fast food bag. You can barely make out a smiley face while it turns and it isn’t cuboid, it’s actually sort of triangular with the top being circular like a paper bag that is rolled up at the top. This has been my hope from the beginning. We still have MK8 and so many great tracks. Give me a Forza Horizon comp with hidden collectibles, discoverable tracks, etc. That gives Nintendo the ability to make new tracks whenever it chooses (or for users to create them from the open world). To me this is the only way to evolve the game.

Peach not wearing a biker suit tells me one of two things: 1. Alternate costumes are a thing, and every character has a 'racing alt' with garments that are more suitable for racing. Nintendo have just specifically chose not to show them off as of yet. 2. The biker suits for all the Princesses have been removed entirely because they were "too sexy", which I'm seriously hoping isn't the case.

I have a feeling they really changed the Mario Kart format with this game, just like they did with Breath of the Wild and the Zelda format (that would also explain why it took 11 years to develop). Seeing the dimensions of the track, the lack of item boxes and how it is not shaped like a racetrack I have a feeling it could be some kind of open world racing game, or a game with a campaign/history and an overworld somehow. Also we have to consider that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will still be playable in the new Switch (and virtually everyone owns the game), so it makes sense to do something very different when people can still go back to MK8 online if they want a traditional racing experience

I feel like there's more significance in the fact that the Mario Circuit (the "default" track) for this game takes place in a desert themed around a highway. I wonder if this game is going to have a "cross country roadtrip" theme... After all, the courses are BIG, they have a road-side resturaunt (with an item box that looks like takeout), and road signs that appear to be inspired by Route 66. Honestly this is what i call the "realistic graphic bias" where people associate more realistic artstyles with higher quality graphics. The characters may be simple and cartoonish but thats just the artstyle. the actual graphics are impressive, the massive draw distance, the amount of detailed models around the track, the scenic ambient fog, super sharp textures etc- all those are quite graphically intensive and impressive

Something that most people have missed is that Peach isn't wearing her biker outfit, I wonder if they completely scrapped it or maybe you could select the outfits like if you were selecting a color for Yoshi in MK8 and maybe they could have different outfits selectable for different characters, they already have different versions of characters in Mario Kart Tour.

For a while now, I've theorized about a more open Mario Kart, featuring huge explorable worlds that can house several different racetracks, not just lap changing gimmicks. And this certainly seems like it could be something like that. Given that it's Mario. Bros Circuit, maybe the path we see in the trailer is the Mario circuit, and the other road going left is Luigi Circuit.

I kind of like that they're taking a risk by making the characters appear more cartoonish or like the original renders of them feel like Nintendo is really get ready to enter a new era with Mario.

I do think a lot of people are overthinking the DK redesign. It’s clear this game is going for a slightly more classic design, and that’s what it is. I don’t think it’s foreshadowing anything

The "cube" beneath "Yoshi's" looks much more like a "To Go" bag than a cube. Could be a special powerup pool or something. Additionally, the openness of the road suggests (to me) that there may be some sort of free roam aspect to the game.

My main hopes for the new Mario Kart: -make Battle mode More fun -if they want to add more characters, they should add in-universe characters from spin-offs like the DK and Wario Games instead of crossover characters pls bring back Captain Syrup, years of having pirate themed maps in Mario games yet never having a specific Pirate themed characters for them is criminal. Especially cause Nintendo already have one, yet refuse to use her -remove filler characters variants like Pink gold peach, peachette and cat peach, we don’t need 3 different peach variants unless you make them simple Skins

@MLG_Godmode the question is how they will adapt him, cause tatanga is one of those quite Out there designs that sorta don’t fit the Mario style. So idk. But would be an interesting choice, since he was once the main villain of The game where daisy was first introduced, just like Syrup was the first villain of the Wario games. So I give equal chances here, even when I’m not as much of a fan of Tatanga

Guys, listen to me...two words...open. world. I could easily imagine, and Ive been discussing that with friends all day, that this game either has some kind of open world where you can drive from track to track in an open world and then you start the race there. This would explain a lot of things that left Landon without a clue what it is. Which, btw, I personally would really love. Its not the first time that Nintendo combines one of their franchises with the open world formula and I could imagine them doing it again.
