I love how Monkey goes back and forth between referring to himself as a separate entity, and acknowledging the fact that he's really Nina talking. She's quite brilliant, no joke. And the cringe-factor of her hitting on the therapist through the puppet is simply amazing.

You know when someone is Masterful, when people are completely captivated and amazed after years have pasted, hanging on every word and gesture, like a great painting we are forever involved in the movement of every brush stroke, and texture. Nina is like the complexity of Georges Seurat's Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, a Masterpiece. Bravo

I wonder how much of it is the miracle of editing. We don't actually have any idea how much time passes between Nina or Monkey saying something and seeing the therapist's response.

Therapists have to be able to hide their reactions. If a therapist reacts strongly to something a patient says, then it interferes with the therapy. That takes a lot of practice. In particular, it is never good to laugh at the patient or what they say. Nina is a world class expert at getting people to laugh.

She is without a doubt the best ventriloquist, no argument against. I do not watch television nor cable so I just discovered her in 2021!!! At least I can binge watch over a decade of material, YES! I feel like I need a DIY solution to my mental issues.. this is inspiration for me but I doubt my therapist will be as enduring. I love this, you are amazing!
@joebloggs6194 жыл бұрын
I suffer from Bipolar and have spent a large part of mylife forced to care for loved ones with assorted serious mental issues, from paranoid Schizophrenia to stonelike, almost dead looking clinically depressed types and other assorted people with "issues". I coped withit all and retained a precarious sense of mental balance myself by three tricks I use: develop enough mental self discipline to be able to engage or detach emotionally in order to empathise with losing your own sanity. Know theboundary line that separated fantasy from reality. (It's OK to move across this boundary but always be aware of when you are doing this and never ever lose track of exactly where that line is). And,finally, do whatever you must or refrain from doing what will harmyour physical health, which will then end up wrecking your mental health, too. Stuff like eating right, exercise and rest and calmness, take meds you musthave if you need toget "chemically rebalanced" effor schizophrenia, as these meds are really like a kind of food or special nutrient your poor mind is crying out for, which is why you end up having some awful episodes. Just take care of your mind, give it the love and care, food and help it is crying outfor. I also find it very useful to avoid very toxic people and places they gather in egmany normal workplaces. You may love working at something but it is essential to do it away from toxic, troublesome workplaces because thesecan really screw you up. So can bad relationships eg bad friends, loves, bad "carers", who could be official ones employed tocare for you, or even your own family members who claim to "care" about you. Trust your instinct on such matters. If something someone does to you feels very bad, wrong, toxic, chances are they arebad people and what they ate doing to you is in fact hurting your mental and possibly also physical health if the abuse is physical as well as mental. It is bestto know or find out whatever you need to know and learn to care for your own self, as much as possible, rather than rely on others to "care"??? for you. Though, obviously, there may be exceptional situations where you do need to see help. In which case, I would check in advance the qualifications and experience etc of care providers eg if I need medical care, I seek a proper MD ie university qualified medical doctor, not merely one with a uni Phd (Doctor Of Philosophy) or a Naturopath or a Witch Doctor etc. If I need psychiatric help, I go see a fully qualified, registered psychologist, not some hack who has done a quick 3 week correspondence course to be a "counsellor" and then hangs up her sign or advertises online, charging a high fee for "psychological counselling for your emotional problems". Beware! They are everwhere and can really screw your mind up and, often, scew you over financially, too, using the "trust" relationship tofind out about your personal, financial etclife and then pass such useful information to gangs of scammers and criminals keen to buy itfrom such counsellors, to facilitate their criminal activities. I don't know why the authorities don't do something about controlling such shysters in Australia, who are mostly females and will be increasing their operations as Covid economic pain and emotional distress really starts to bite hard in the coming year or so. Some of these women also double up as fortune tellers, astrologers etc and might even do a bit of a side hustle as high class escorts ie prostitutes etc.

It's "risky", which is why it's so exciting and therapeutic, too, for some people who may have a mental disorder, or get told they have one and need to get some relief from such a "diagnosis", by being able to laugh about it, even if theyknow it's probably an accurate diagnosis. About being "officially declared insane" ie can actually prove you are, unlike the rest who cannot prove whether they are or are not. Insane that is, becausethey never submitted themselves or were compelledto submit for "ssessment", like I was. If you can't laugh at such things and those who do them to others or even yourself as their victim, you will definitely go insane. Even if you were not, to begin with...

I'd love to see Nina do such an "interview" type dark comedy scene involving a job interview or perhaps being "counselled" or "disciplined" for "unacceptable behaviour in the work place" or perhaps an interview by some news reporter/reader involving something of a politically controversial nature, though that might be getting a bit too risky... Amazing talent with ventriloqy and also dark comedy... Well done!

Doug Rosengard That's odd. I posted a reply but it vanished. It pointed out that he did . At 8.45 Monkey says "I'd fuck Theresa May before you". Though the funniest part still was Adam replying "We've ceratinly explored some issues" and then grinning so hard it was obvious he was on the edge of cracking up with laughter. Both, or all three of them depending on your point of view, are brilliantly clever. Hugely original, truly creative. (Slightly crazy too but fkit so what).

You know what's wrong with this world? Well for one, everyone has heard of Amy Schumer, who is about as funny as a bucket of dry dirt. And relatively few have heard of Nina. There's something deeply wrong about that. There is more intellect , fascination, and humor in one of these therapy sessions than in the sum total of Amys "work". I'm fucking hooked! Going to the next one bye. PS dont mean to pick on Amy but somehow mediocrity is promoted and true excellence gets overlooked. She's a perfect example.
