truly the best two of all time, a true poet and a revolutionary figure, and i'll let you tell me which is which, they are beyond iconic, they are history that we can experience, never will anyone represent the struggle of oppressed people than nina did, she was truly one of a kind, the closest i can come to is billie holliday but even she pales in comparison to nina, truly the most majestic singer we will ever see. the way she sings 'there are heroes in the seaweed' leonard walked so that nina could run and i think he knows it

Lyrics by Leonard Cohen are genius, but the arrangement makes this a fucking Nina Simone song, full stop.

She killed the song, substituting mannerisms and cuteness for the pathos of the original version. Phooey.
@puscifer10000 Жыл бұрын
Sorry you hear it different from most listeners. You don't have to like it. But others are not wrong or have bad taste if they do happen to absolutely love it and listen to it often.

It is refreshing to see contrary opinions now and then. Before reading your comment I had never been able to understand why I liked this performance so much less than the original version by Leonard Cohen (or than other songs performed by Nina Simone) but I see why now. Thank you. .
