I loved this tune in '65 on the "I put a spell on you" album, perhaps my fav Nina album. But this "unplugged" version, which I just discovered today, blows me away. Miss Simone just goes so deeply into the moment that it tears the emotions. I was fortunate to see her several times in that era, and this performance so well captures her profound talents.

Genius!!! She's absolutely amazing... Very few people in musical history, can actually do what she's doing... She's just casually playing around with complex musical timing and signature, and also while doing so, as if it's just an amusing toy for her.... Brilliant!!!

Other artists try to fit the music, Nina makes the music fit around her and the story she tells. She's flexible and the bands that played with her had to follow suit

11:19 PM, listening to this on thanksgiving day. all the food has been stored away, family members have left, I've just taken off my dress and now I am sitting cross-legged in my stockings on my bed. this song makes me want to take note of my life, capture it in detail. it's slipping me by, I know it, I feel it. it's quite overwhelming, but also valuable and precious. I'm glad to be alive right now, I'm glad I'm alive to write all I've just written and experience this song in the depths of me as I am doing, the depths of my heart. I don't know you, but you are wonderful. thank-you for existing. stay gold.

***** I wasn't trying to be narcissistic, I was just trying to express my gratitude for Nina Simone's music and the effect it has on me personally whenever I listen to it. There's nothing wrong in doing that. And it's not your call to decide which music is purposeful for my life. You can do that with your own.
@MSAZgreen9 жыл бұрын
***** I really don't have to explain myself to you, it's rather pointless actually. You're taking my words, and giving them completely different meaning, which I think says more about you than anything. Point be, I respect and admire Nina Simone, as a musician, woman, and civil rights activist. And if you do too, great. Let's just leave it at that.

Nina makes any song a masterpiece, like Shakespeare's power. Aznavour had a good song, but when Nina sang it, everything is here - life and death, and prison and liberation from vice. Nina could turn any song into a revelation. Bright memory to her. It cannot be repeated.

There was so much torment in her true message. At the same time she was strong enough to press on and do it like she needed and wanted. Moreover she was laying down many HEAVY HEAVY true to life true to date information. She knew most of us would not get it so she repeated the info and followed up with" REMEMBER THAT".....ie when she said they are killing us one by one. Wow... some of today's hardcore rappers concur with this stone cold Fact. To answer the question asked.. Yes this song makes me weep!!!! Just as mist if her music does. This was her platform to share insight. How many if us are in the know? ???????????????

Though some may reach for the stars Others will end behind bars What the future has in store no one ever knows before Though time may help you forget all that has happened before it's too late to regret, what is gone will be no more. Tomorrow is my turn No more doubts, no more fears Tomorrow is my turn When my luck is returning All these years, I've been learning to save fingers from burning Tomorrow is my turn No more doubts, no more fears Tomorrow is my turn to receive without giving, to make life worth living though it's my life I'm living And my only concern for tomorrow is my turn. When summer is gone, there's another to come. You can't stop years drifting by, even if you want to try. Though time may help you forget all that has happened before, sweetheart it's too late to regreat, what is gone will be no more. Tomorrow is my turn No more doubts, no more fears Tomorrow is my turn When my luck is returning All these years, I've been learning to save fingers from burning Except tomorrow is my turn No more doubts, no more fears Tomorrow is my turn to receive without giving. To make life worth my living Now it's my life I'm living Tomorrow is my turn No more doubts no more fears Tomorrow is my turn to all my love to be returned. All these years, I've been learning to save fingers from burning Tomorrow is my turn No more doubts, no more fears Tomorrow is my turn to receive without giving. Make life worth living Now it's my life I'm living And my only concern for tomorrow is my turn.
