I thought I was the only one who hated coloured cushions to add colour! All designers say to add coloured cushions but Nina is right. It’s very tacky and unnatural. You have to add colour without showing you tried. It’s like Nina’s kitchen no kitchen look!

I think your black and white roman shades are classy. Because they are formal and in a formal living room it works. If you put in grass cloth shades you would need to make other things in the room less formal also.

I, too, have decorated my home in a neutral palette. Your topic on art resonated with me a lot as I have an art filled home. I have also learnt (learning) how to marry antique and modern furnishings and decor. Most of my pieces are European, which we inherited from my husband’s family. I think I’m going to book a session with you to see if you like how I managed it.

I have an eBay store. I've bought a lot of original oil paintings on Ebay. The last one was an Italian water color from the 30s. I also have a large, beautiful California landscape from the 30s (Oliver Glen Barrett) and a smaller one. Most of them listed artists. Live on a lake, so I also have some sail boat oil paintings. Most have the old gold gilt frames. I love art and good wool area rugs.

Nina I am obsessed with your channel ❤! You are such a wealth of knowledge. I don’t know if you’re taking any suggestions for future videos but can you do one on lighting 💡? Specifically, any suggestions/tips on how to brighten up a room without overhead lighting 🛋️? There are so many options of lamps, sconces, etc, it’s all quite overwhelming. Sending an SOS! 😂 🆘

Now that l'm in my mid 50s, 2700 kelvin is too dim. My overhead lighting is generally 3000 kelvin, kitchen and bathroom are brighter. My floor and table lamps are 2700 kelvin. Consistency is in the use of warm light bulbs.
@Person-mh6xq2 ай бұрын
3000K for me in EVERY light in the house. 2700 reads too yellow and definitely “yellows”white lamp shades as well.

you talked about contrast what if your tile for bathroom has a lot of color in the movement of the tile ( huge mistake we actually bought a different tile for this main bath but the workers installed the tile that we bought for a guest bathroom which is fine in a small bathroom for a different look ( long story but we can't change it now as its been installed no going back) . It is a beautiufl tile but I had NOT planned it for my main house bath as my house is super quiet and classic with whites. This tile has lots of cashmere, sahara, with brown/bronze veining. So do I pull out the light mocha/sahara/cashmere or off white colors ( pure whtie looks terrible against it) or go high contrast and use dark grey's and woodsthat will make it dark but be high contrast. I went to 2 different designers one said don'ot go light it will look like a mistake go dark... the other said go light to calm down the busy tile effect... everyone has a different opinion HELP PLEASE
@NinaTakesh2 ай бұрын
Honestly, I would pick one of the lighter colors in the tile and use that. It will feel much more peeling and soothing.

Good question! I would create perhaps an area where they can be grouped together. This could be an armoire or a specific shelf. You can also put them next to some modern art books and make it more of an art installation. Hope that helps.
