The KBO is just nuts. Lifelong MLB fan, went to two Busan Giants games this spring and had the time of my life! Packed stadium, deafening crowds, great seats, tons of cheap food and drink, tickets were $25, just a massive party.
@mofoburrell3 ай бұрын
Its really great. The cheap food and drink is because the concessions have to compete! You're allowed to bring in any food and drink you want (as long as it's in plastic: no glass or metal). All the convenience stores surrounding the stadium sell 2L plastic bottles of beer for about $10. So if the in-stadium concessions want to sell anything, they have to compete! Really great prices

It's alienating to watch kids do that stuff. There's a lot of distance between vert/bowl/olympic type of skating and anyone you'll find on a skateboard enjoying themselves at the park (or on the street). The scene rejects them because they usually had a skateboarding coach before they could walk, potentially tied in with a private school or homeschooling that allows them to skate 24/7. I used to clean pools and fountains at a mansion where the parents turned their unused tennis court into a skate facility with coaches for their kids. All of this and Japan and Korea currently own the future of Olympic style skateboarding anyways. Also their goal is basically to make money, it's their career. so they're not discerning with their sponsorships and end up (ab)using skating to huck supplements or NFTs. In fact there are some pro skaters who can hardly skate now, and are basically just actors for companies like Nike and Vans. It's unfortunate to see the people who put their lives on the line go unrecognized by outside investment. The Olympic skateboarding committee recently failed it's audit because it's run by fraudsters

@@wingdingdmetrius8025 that's how tony hawk grew up and he and a small handful of people created the modern skating scene but tony hawk was probably the most influential figure. he was a rich kid whose parents built him all the ramps and stuff in his backyard. all top athletes these days are specialists, and yeah, most of them are from rich households. that's just the way things work. the important thing is that skating on the street and skating in some competition are completely different things and there really isn't that much overlap anymore. when skateboarding was some obscure hobby in the 70s, street skaters would be in the competitions but very soon after it blew up in the 90s, it became dominated by professionals.

I think on WC qualifiers, they don't always have it. Also, this sounds weird, but Indian teams have traditionally been anti-review of any kind. They were notorious in cricket because for about 4 years all other test teams played with DRS (decision review system), they insisted that it not be part of their matches, which is f***ing ridiculous... it's the rules, so that would be like insisting that in their games, they used a suede ball rather than a leather ball or something... But anyway, it was super funny because they were also by far the worst team for "umpire dissent", and would frequently argue with the umpire in baseball fashion (which is completely unacceptable in cricket)... But it's like "Well, there's a simple solution..." They say that they lost the 2008 Sydney test because of poor umpiring... but they actually lost it because Australia was just a better team but yeah... that's just kind of how India do sport.

The thing about soccer is the ball is only over a line if when you are looking at it from directly above, it doesn't overhang any part of the line. So the bottom of the ball could not be touching line but it could still be in. It's why in soccer you will see grass in-between the ball and the line but on a scoring opportunity but the goal will not count because the sides of the ball were not fully across.
