Dude, I am telling you these videos are amazing. I know people just say this next line, but I actually mean it. Your channel is going to blow-up one day. I haven't even heard of 1984 until this video, but the way you're describing each and every aspect, it is just addicting. Great work man, excited to see what else you make!!

Love John Hurt in the film adaptation of 1984 (the best one imo) but I wouldn''t watch the movie without finishing the book! It's just nice to see everything you've thought about in the book come to life. This was definitely a great summary of the main ideas of 1984. Don't know if its mandatory reading in High School anymore, but should be.

The film with John Hurt filmed in 1984 was good. However you *really* need to read the book as well. I have read it about 3 times. There are a lot of details in the book that don't make the film, or don't have the details that they have in the book.

Cannot have the current dumbed down proles getting ideas now can we? If they could even understand it today anyway, with the lies of racism and woke ideology in their heads, Newspeak has been more or less adopted. Double plus good.

It is simply history. Totalitarianism is not a new concept. The fact that history is not really taught is also not a new concept. If you want to read about how this country has always manipulated the masses in general, try How the South Won the Civil War by Richardson.

Video is very nice. Although I have few suggestions. 1st Redesign your channel logo channel art and name. Something related to your content. 2nd Don't just focus on reviews add about writers as well. Like a video on Franz kafka and his way inspiration behind his works etc etc. You can make playlists. 3rd Add info about movie adaptations of book you are explaining like 1984 have a movie adaptation.

Hi Sona. Thanks for taking the time for the suggestions! I have been thinking about redesigning my channel might do it soon. I'll eventually like to make videos on philosophers along with playlists (e.g. existentialism). Thanks for the advise, appreciate it!!. Edit: just redesigned :)

1984 should be read as a story about someone in our century, who tried to rebel against the system --- and failed. It should not be treated as an atlas showing us directions and destinations.

Everyone always for some reason says 1984 is a play on National Socialist Germany but I strongly agree with that assertion... it's extremely obvious this is a dig at Stalinist era USSR and authoritative communism in general. From the work's lexicon, people's places in the party, Emmanuel Goldstein (Trotsky) to the fact that Animal Farm preceded this and was a literal critique of the leftism he once allied himself with, it's genuinely insane to me that *anyone* could see this as a critique of National Socialism.

I had a dream I was someone else in another time (future). I had a boyfriend and we were sending eachother texts expressing our love for eachother and our phones were taken away and we had some kind of punishment. Everything was watched; surveillanced. Expressing love and affection in any way was not allowed. I have had similar dystopian dreams and I really do believe I am tapping in to a possible time-line and receiving psychic insight.

So how does "Emmanuel Goldstein" play into all their hatred of him at the beginning of the movie?
@boxinabox6608
@boxinabox6608 Жыл бұрын
The book explores it a bit more: he is just a figure for the people to hate, he might be real or use to have been real but it further shows that Ingsoc can create entire people for an end. They belittle him by faking his argument against totalitarianism(not that they would listen anyway) to ruin his reputation and the reutation of the ideologies that he was pushing.

I love how Nazi’s are first mentioned and I get it, they were monsters… but even though ORWELL was a socialist, I think the commies fit this book a lot better. At least in Germany the citizens were free. Not justifying the atrocities. But we all know about the gulags and how Soviet Russia really was, right? I’ve only watched 45 seconds of this video and had to comment. I’ll leave by saying authoritarianism and totalitarianism are a terrible thing and I hope people can see that it’s happening right now. And it’s not coming from the so called “Nazis” as anyone disagreeing with the ideologues and sheep are called. I think if you have a platform, you should be using it to spread truth but again, I’m only 45 seconds in.

No, 1984 is a perfect depiction of the USA, brainwashing everyone into thinking the communists were the bad guys to justify commiting genocide against them, as well as arresting, torturing and killing anyone suspected of being a Communist, down to making everyone afraid and hostile towards Communism to this day.

You're a disrespectful scumbag. You're the only ideologue here. Citing lies as an argument doesn't make you correct, it makes you a liar. "We all know" no, you don't know shit about history if you learn from american schools. "Autoritarianism" and "totalitarianism" are words only someone who believes in the americanized version of history would use. Anti-communists are the ideologically blinded ones. They believe every lie the west tells them. Black Book of Communism? Self-confessed liars. Most famous North Korean "defector"? She's considered a liar by even other "defectors". The "defector" that promoted the Iraq war? A confirmed liar. Considering the fact that anti-communists are proven liars, it's pretty safe to dismiss every anti-communist claim as a lie. "Criticizing" Socialism for things that might have very well never happened doesn't make Socialism bad, it makes you a scumbag. You're just trying to find excuses to suck 3/4 of the wealth people produce and give it to lobbyists.

Only party and outer party members are subjected to sex or thought crime. Not the proletarian. It’s says it all in the book. Get your facts correct. You narration is just hilarious, as everything you said is already in the novel. 🟥
@Donald_Here
@Donald_Here 2 жыл бұрын
You seem to be very cocky about it. Proletarians are free. They're animals to the Party, because they cannot rebel due to not having an education to even think of rebel. They believe everything they're told by the Party, because they don't have a chance because they don't know anything in life, other than being a working-class citizen. They're most likely free completely. Everything he is saying is also true. The war is for power, and is to be continuous, in order for the people to let the Party overrule them. Outer Party members are a known threat to the Party, and are wanted by MINILUV to be cured. They have an education/better education enough to think, and possibly rebel/consider rebelling. The fact that you're being sarcastic over someone explaining how the very novel functions worldwide including the other three superstates never really reaching each others borders. That is something most people wouldn't know, since most think V-2 rockets are being used by the superstate itself which is 50/50 chance of it being true. If you think you know something that someone else does, don't be an ass about it. No one likes smart ass attitudes
