In fact i have a autoclutch (No clutch),. a Zero Throttle, etc... Love to do things by myself too. I was impressed on your earing detail. Just to be able to hear the rattling of the steels in a 4 cylinder big bore bike with Gazilions parts making noise... you are amazing jajajajaja Nice Job. Greetings from Colombia

I had clutch slippage on my 07 Z1000 and replaced the clutch cable, friction plates with EBC street/race clutch and reused the metal plates.... replaced the springs with EBC 15% stiffer springs. Never had an issue with it again and it pulls the front tire up at highway speeds if wanted. Have never heard of drilling the clutch basket in my entire life for disengagement issues.

Nice. I’m guessing the springs and plates made a big difference. I really couldn’t complain TOO much. That clutch had what was it 80,000 miles. I’d love to see what your clutch fix feels like.

Very good to know you solved the clutch problem! Did you drain the oil before remove the clutch cover?
@Wrenchie5 жыл бұрын
Hi Yeung, No. This time I did not drain the oil. It's only got about 1500 miles on the Amsoil synthetic. I left it on the side stand and since the side stand is on the other side of the bike from the clutch cover, no oil spilled out. Good tip to know. If I had it on the rear swing arm spool stand, I would have needed to drain the oil. What are you riding?
@yeungchai8825 жыл бұрын
Wrenchie Thank you for your reply. I’m riding 2014 Z1000 and I also experience the disengaging problem. When I squeeze the clutch lever and the clutch doesn’t disengage immediately. And I’m difficult to shift the gear. I’m planning to do the same modification as you and replace the anti jitter ring as well.

I’m sorry here, but i here all the time how ppl cant use air impacts to remove these nuts on the sprocket and clutches on bikes.... I have used air impacts for decades on everything from backhoes to 1 ton trucks to my 69 charger drag car. I have to ask.... are you guys adjusting the regulators high enough? Do you only have very low capacity compressors? Because there is nothing on a motorcycle that a half inch impact shouldn’t be able to deal with. Other than that great job, on the vids.
@jonchaitt79915 жыл бұрын
You would think that the air impact would be just fine, right? Me too! The culprit may be that it was a cheap (very cheap) Harbor Freight special rated around 50-60 ft lbs or torque. That nut is 125 ft ld torque spec. I could be wrong but I think that was the issue. If so, you get what you pay for. Then again, its probably me! Thanks for the comment!

@@Wrenchie I'm riding a green, 2014, Z1000sx T. around Andalusia, Southern Spain from new. Doesn't get any better for me. Now done 30k kms. Only problem I've had is wearing out my tyres. On the Bridgestone S20s I got 4000 miles. Last 2 changes were Metzeler Roadtec 1. I got 4900 miles on the 1st set. They're not quite so sticky but easily outperform me. Stay safe and keep up the good work Wrenchie !

@@gsfdriller Are you looking for more mileage or rain traction? Or just some good stickiness? If mileage, wet and dry traction (not as good a like a Q3 or something) I swear by the Michelin pilot 4 or 5s. I get about 9,000 miles about 15,000 kms. Pretty good. I ride about two sets of these per year.

@@Wrenchie That's good mileage. I was looking for a good balance. I would say I'm pretty satisfied with the Metzelers to be honest. I got mates who have used the Michelin Pilots and they did get a bit more mileage but changed to Metzeler 01. I'm not bothered about rain, its pretty rare here and when it does I don't go out. Hi, I got the problem with change gear. I feel the clutch delay 0.5 sec when change gear... Does drill holes can fix this problem? Thanks for your reply.
@Wrenchie5 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan, I can't be certain. Are you certain the clutch is not slipping? Symptom would be when you accelerate hard the RPM's spin up but the bike isn't fully "hooked up" and accelerating. If that is your symptom, that sounds like you just need a new clutch (friction plates). If that's not it, and you feel the clutch is not disengaging, check the simple stuff first: You have enough oil in the bike, clutch cable is properly adjusted, clutch arm on the case is moving all the way through the stroke, etc. After that, its time to take the thing apart, examine clutch friction plates, probably replace the springs. Also, inspect the clutch basket for burs in the rib channels. Any burs there could prevent the plates from moving properly which could cause the clutch to hang, not disengage properly. You could try lightly sanding the grooves to remove the burs... use a fine sandpaper like 600 or 800 grit. If the clutch is still hanging, not disengaging, maybe, just maybe drilling the holes will solve the problem. If you are going to do that, you might as well replace the friction plates if they look worn. Good luck!!
@Huanghow5 жыл бұрын
Hi Wrenchie, I will check every part that you say. Thank you so much!🙂
@jonchaitt79915 жыл бұрын
@@Huanghow Also, if you sand the grooves on the clutch basket (see my video) best to remove basket so you don't get metal shavings in the engine case.
