It was my second time on a motorcycle and when I got up to around 22mph, I realized I was countersteering without trying to. Probably due to all the hours watching 'how to ride' videos for 4 years. So many watch hours, it became second nature 😂

Hi SoCal! Doing the Motorbike-School right now. Yesterday I had my second class, my teacher took me in the streets right after I learned how to switch the gears. I had a situation where I had to turn right and I couldnt steer right properly; I went a little bit over the center of the street. Thank God there was no car right there in that moment!!! I watched your tutorial on how to ride a motorbike 1-2 years ago and here we go, I'm doing it right now and I am back here, learning how to do it without getting myself in trouble. Stay safe everyone, take your time, get used to it, give your body and brain time to unterstand riding and always be alert! Seeing others doing it is a thing, and doing it yourself is another thing. LG Adrian

When you out on the roads, especially the roads you don't know, the things that will make you safer rider - is the ability roll off the throttle and apply brakes MID-turn and/or adding more lean angle. Since when you're not riding on track, most of the times you won't pick correct line/speed for turns. It's important to know that when you're already leaned, your inputs must be more gentle(throttle/brakes) than when you're upright.

Gentle inputs is a great point

Thanks for this vid! I heard about counter steering a million times, but never could grasp what the fook they meant. You made it easy to understand

If you know how to ride & counter steer on a bicycle, you counter steer on a motorcycle. Your counter steering on a bicycle, especially on a all terrain mountain bike or the 10-12 speed racing bikes on real city streets, uphill & downhill. We can't lean as hard in the turn but speed, position, aim, turn still applies, didn't realize that I have been counter steering all this time 😄!. Great content bro!! Keep up the good work. You put it in a way that everyone can understand.

I just discovered your channel, I have already seen several of your videos and I subscribed immediately, I really like the way you explain things is very clear, concise and precise, you're better than most of the most famous moto vloggers who explain riding techniques in 8m just for a few visuals, you deserve many more followers, I really like the passion you put in your videos, keep it up, you're great, a greeting from Italy

Saw a great video on trail breaking by some UK youtube and it's definitely something I'll incorporate into my practice as I get back on a bike after 5 years off. It seems so much better as it allows greater control throughout the corner, and it really is quite simple the way he instructed it so I'm not sure how the stigma built up of it being an intermediate/advanced technique. Maybe just because incorrect use of the brakes in a corner can end very badly and as such it's a safer move for MFS to just teach people not brake in corners instead of risking someone not getting it right and getting tossed. Using your ideology of "practicing until you can't get it wrong" it should be just as easy, if not easier, to learn/master than emergency braking. Heres a link to the trailbreaking video I mentioned, also mentions another simple cornering tip of having your head off center of the motorcycle (looking through the turn with your whole head not just eyes: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4aloGamjK2rarM&ab_channel=SimonTheSquid

On counter steering, what I’ve noticed nobody has said yet so I’m going to ask, once you initiate the counter steer to go left, what do you need to do to make the turn tighter once you’re in the turn? Do I continue to keep pushing left and push a little more left? I don’t have a bike yet but it’s coming.

I understand what you’re saying, but it doesn’t look like you push the handle bars when you’re turning, looks like you’re turning them the direction you’re going?

Mannn I feel so stupid trying to understand 😂😂

isnt the concept the same like riding a bicycle? But only in faster speeds? in lower speeds you turn your steering handles more then when riding faster were you just lean in more.

@@socalriderb in the video where the name says SoCal rider - that is mount Diablo. I see Castle rock and barbecue Terrace - where are used to religiously mountain bike up in the early 80s

When I am approaching an intersection or an entrance and I am going to turn how fast/slow should I be going? I ask because I slow way down but I am constantly having people riding my butt!
@socalriderb2 жыл бұрын
Bro as fast as you need to go to be safe. I say that because it seems like people just expect you to go fast because you're on a bike. Also I find that most people are in a rush and have no regard for your safety

Seriously??? think about it…I find it difficult to impossible to take anyone seriously that talks about safety in a video and doesn’t even wear motorcycle leather gloves.. everyone i know that rides has had a crash of some kind… and everyone does the same reaction… they put their hands down… you cant help it…how can you expect anyone to take your safety tips seriously when you obviously dont take your own safety seriously?? it’s like catching a car salesman in a lie.. once you catch a salesman lying to you, you don’t believe anything they say.. they lose all credibility….

Hey Jody. Good point. I wear leather and mesh Alpine stars with Knuckle guards. I don't always wear them if I make a video in a parking lot but I think you make a good point. Thanks for your insight
