First off, one person could point out that a balance issue is actually something that makes sense in lore. Because you are going up against enemies that are trying to kill you, and people trying to kill you don't normally want to give you a chance at survival - and will therefore do what it takes to kill you. The Germans were not thinking about how to balance out their mustard gas weapons, and they sure weren't trying to balance the wonder waffa. But that cutscene for the gold fiend, was because in the normal game you typically first encounter a flying fiend in that or a regular scene in that cutscene. But that depends on whether it's path of the acolyte or path of the warrior, and they still left the cutscene in - so they went and showed a higher level fiend. Basic, winged, and gold.

You literally put your soul in these 8 hours long series, so rare to see a player talking with such passion about these action games, that are often so underestimated (besides games like GoW but we all know that is REALLY different stuff). Really good video, very enjoyable. Well done. @ 3:06:25 : it's not 5 fps - that's what's most stunning and impressive. The rendering-engine actually pretty much won't slow down a lot. You can see it, all effects, the camera movement, animations, everything still is fluid. It's just like in slow motion, because the computation of game logic (ai, projectiles and so on) can't keep up. This is one memorable scene - I still remember playing this the first time back in the day and at first I thought it was on purpose, to make the whole stairs-climb feel more epic. I still do believe that this is the reason why they shipped this. Because it feels amazing in this ultra fast paced game to actually see it slowed down a bit.

First off: your videos are *Master Ninja* status approved. Amazing stuff. My first NG game was Sigma on PS3. Managed to do everything 100% (this was before trophies can into existence). Now where things got crazy was Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2. I got it on release and was adamant to get the platinum. There was 1 thing that was stopping myself and others - the co-op missions. You’d see the same names playing all the time to try and get this. About 10 of us (USA, Japan and me from the UK) were playing it non stop but it was beyond brutal. It took approximately 2 months and 2 weeks to get the platinum and I was only 23rd in the world to get it. It’s arguably one of the most dedicated and harsh experiences I’ve had in gaming but sharing it with others who shared the sentiment even with a language barrier with players from Japan. The fact that games like this don’t exist anymore (bar DMC5) is a shame. Majority of gamers don’t like these harder games.
@jurtheorc81179 күн бұрын
"Games like this don't exist anymore", you say? Have you heard of Soulstice, Genokids, Enenera Daemon Core, Mightreya, IMMORTAL: And the Death that Follows, Jamphibian and *especially* Magenta Horizon: Neverending Harvest? I'll throw in Clash: Artifacts of Chaos (more on the God Hand side of things) and Cookie Cutter in there too!
@Jonathan-Shadow9 күн бұрын
@ I’ve never heard of ANY of those games. I started with an N64. Had a Dreamcast, game gear, GameCube, PS2, etc. I tend to get attached to the longevity of a series like Sonic, Metal Gear Solid, Tony Hawk, Resident Evil, Parappa The Rapper and so on. Games post PS3 and during PS4 are complete shit compared to the library of games before. That’s what I’m trying to say.
@jurtheorc81179 күн бұрын
@@Jonathan-Shadow That's a big history of experience with consoles for sure! So games like Rayman 2 you've played across multiple platforms too? Or games like MediEvil, Maximo, Jet Set Radio? I think i'm picking up what you're saying. There's not much in the way of new games in recent years that are building up a legendary franchise name with many new games. You mean something like that? I'm not here to discuss a bigger image however. I simply saw your comment, i see your love for harder, punishing action games within your comment, and i've got big interest in this genre as well. Said interest has made me look into many such action games, a lot of which will very much benefit from being known more, and i'm doing my best to spread word on them where i can. So i'm not here to try and change your thought on game libraries post-PS3, but i want to bring up some individuals titles that i think are cool, titles which you may appreciate too, with the intent that word-of-mouth can help this genre gain more interest again. Magenta Horizon: Neverending Harvest especially goes in deep on the difficulty. Released only a month or two ago. Its lead dev is likewise a very big Ninja Gaiden fan, as well as of other action games. Big love and technical knowledge/competence from his part in the game design. Some NG influences can be seen in the game like the pace of battles and on-landing charge moves (different ones for different directions), but there is a lot that gives its its own identity. Like - building up chargers for healing grenades, the only source of healing outside of checkpoints. - There being no parries outside from two "spells", - all spells having unique charging bars, - said spells and healing grenades charging up by attacking normally, - ways of combining spells with each other (like casting a spider net onto a bone spike to make an exploding flail), - parrying your own spells (like summoning a ghostly arm and then using the parry that turns you into a cannon ball to dash into a particular direction) - over 60 different bosses and enemies, and they appear in pretty big team-ups - most enemies having around three different attacks and different ways in which they behave, - enemy size having influence on where you can and can't go (can't move through horizontally wide enemies for example) - resetting a double jump and air dash by using a Hook attack, pogo bounce move or a diving bounce move, - level design being important too, as you can lean against walls and some enemies will climb up against walls too like the Orangutan Wraiths. - the world being a nearly psychedelic, colorful iteration of what the afterlife would be like - Art style and direction in general. I'm afraid that your preference for series with stronger, already established longevity and legacy may make you not interested in trying Magenta Horizon either way, but i do genuinely hope that this has made you curious. The entire Act 1 of 3 is available as a demo.

I was lmao at 1:04:20 That test of Valor was literally a nightmare and I was screaming at my TV screen when I finally beat that god damn challenge. For some reason Team Ninja put one of the hardest challenges at the beginning of the game when it's unlikely to have a maxed out weapon. So especially your fighting near 100 ninjas with limited ninpo, freaking insanity.

The funniest part is that everything you said about what Tomonobu "it isn't harrasement if I quit first" Itagaki would say or do is that they're absolutely possible and he would do them if he had the power or chance.

Looking back at it, I don't think the connection between Genshin and Gamov is meant to add motive to Genshin. If the two are related, then it explains why the Spider Ninjas were involved with NG1. Genshin probably lent some ninjas to Gamov. If not for that, then why would the Spider Ninjas bother with the Vigoor Empire or the events of NG1 beyond harassing Ryu?

I felt insane when I impulse purchased Sigma 2 for a dose of that sweet nostalgia and was bitch slapped by how different it is from Gaiden 2. Gotta say, I do love some of the new stuff though. Ryu based and real for assassinating liberty

i actually LOVE Ayane's "high pitched nagging" it gave a sense of urgency and importance and it felt like there was an underlying MISSION and those were little hints (along with the audio cue) made it feel ORGANIC

The stairwell is truly the most glorious part of NG2. I got the 100 hit combo a few days ago. It really majes you feel like a Skywalker in a hallway.

I played sigma 2 and finished it on Master Ninja difficulty. It is been a very long time but I remember I really felt like a Master Ninja after finishing it. You became a better gamer.

More swear words I need an exponential amount of profanity to wash down the utter malevolent beautifully cultivated convection of carnage only team ninja ninja Ninja gaiden can provide. Keep up the great work I enjoy all of your videos
