(weenop) Hello everyone, since this video is seemingly exploding out of absolutely nowhere, I'd like to correct some inconsistencies and or errors I made regarding the timeline. These were mostly pointed out by fans of the series that noticed my mistakes, so much love to you guys. -Kasumi did NOT in fact return to the Mugen Tenshin village, in fact she never did. She was hiding out in the Hayabusa village during the events of DOA5, and retreated to the wilderness in DOA6 -The dinosaurs are DOATEC's fault -I may or may not have neglected to mention Kokoro and Helena first met during the events of DOA4 during the events of her arcade mode. Credit to JBBelen Kokoro for pointing this stuff out Also, regarding concerns pertaining to the use of a certain word at several points in the video, I would like to clarify for new viewers that I, weenop of Brain Alert! (the guy who made the video), am a black man of mixed ethnicity.

To be fair DOA is very inconsistent about who‘s the strongest. Every tournament has been won by a different fighter, even though Itagaki‘s comment about Kasumi seem like she‘s considered the strongest, especially since DOATEC decides to clone her in order to develop the ultimate fighter. The reason for this is that you‘re not allowed to use any powers ( Honoka get‘s disqualified for using her powers in 5, but Kasumi and Ayane still use their teleport 😂) and even if it was allowed, Ryu is probably smart enough to keep his powers hidden from the world. So yeah, the story is pretty messy and more or less makes no sense anymore, especially since Itagaki left, so it‘s basically impossible to know who‘s the strongest lore wise. Even though Team Ninja stated several times thst Ninja Gaiden and DoA tske place in the same universe, it doesn‘t really add up time or lore wise, but I guess it makes sense from a gameplay point of view. No one wants to play s fighting game where one chsrscter is just OP.

I like your video on DOA as it's usually hard to find people who talk about it on KZbin aside from videos talking about the fanservice. However, you have gotten some facts wrong or missing some details. - Kasumi never returned to the Mugen Tenshin Clan, she was still considered a Runaway and a target. She was hidden in the Hayabusa Clan, only Ryu and Hayate knew it. - Kokoro met Helena in the fourth tournament, where Helena tested her and told her to talk to Miyako after the fight. Kokoro even mentioned meeting Helena two years back in the fifth game. - Leifang actually beat Jann Lee in the fourth tournament, but that is debatable since DOA5 was made after Itagaki left, so story elements were changed. - The dinosaurs are just genetic experiments from DOATEC. - Fun fact, Itagaki mentioned in a facebook post that his vision of DOA5 was supposed to have the Mugen Tenshin Clan be destroyed with Kasumi and Ayane as survivors and Miyako (Kokoro's mother) being a major antagonist.

And his clan doesn’t have a legendary or powerful weapon that is on par with the dragon sword
@billhilton7787 ай бұрын
@@Vietmac1993 Actually surprisingly Hayate’s blade is special/powerful. According to lore it’s stated that it’s a legendary sword, (similar to how the dragon blade gets passed down for the Hayabusa leaders/Master Ninja) his blade; is known as the sword of storms, Jinran-Maru, and is stated to only be passed down to the strongest of the Mugen Tenshin, master ninjas/clan leaders. In NGRE, the blade is also loaned to Ryu, (from Hayate) as a temporary replacement for the dragon sword, due to Ryu’s blade/Ryu being cursed at the time. And seeing some, of the things it does and how it shreds through things, especially how the blade releases many wind blades when combined with one of Ryu’s ultimate attacks, it gives the audience a hint capability wise
@Vietmac19937 ай бұрын
@@billhilton778 Really? Kind of sad that it isn't showcased as much. What I mean is how Hayate's abilities with the blade aren't showcased as well as Ryu's Dragon Sword. When Raidou attacked the Mugen Tenshin Village, I can't believe he was more interested in stealing a special technique rather than a sword. Also it would have been wise for Hayate to actually defend his village with the blade if it was as strong as you said it was.
@jeromenicholson7437 ай бұрын
@Vietmac1993 To answer your question, from an unbiased viewpoint, the reason is overall due to plot connivence in order to kick off the story, same with Ryu’s story when he lost to Doku due to him emotionally fighting soley in anger. Instead of Doku destroying the dragon sword, he instead left it, overall it’s simply their way of getting both stories started for them to return more powerful, a prime example of plot connivance Raidou became powerful by copying techniques shown to him. So him simply taking it, wouldn’t help him overall, in order for Jinran-Maru to be useful, he would first, have to know how to use it (secret sword techniques/abilities etc) properly. According to the lore, it lets us know that the storm blade much like the dragon sword, is a legendary katana that got passed down to Shiden and Hayate (other wise known as Raijin, the god of thunder/Wind of the Heavens etc). Since Raidou went rogue due to jealousy and takes techniques for a living, (including underworld drop from NG, but a different name) assuming he’s able to copy the sword’s techniques, in order for him to possibly use it, he would have to get someone to show him the storm blade’s secrets mid fight; without him having a legendary weapon of his own. He would also have to survive, memorize its moves and somehow take the blade after having knowledge on how to use its techniques against others, since it’s a physical special weapon that involves abilities/techniques, instead of just, the technique by itself. It’s possible for Raidou just unlikely and risky
@Vietmac19937 ай бұрын
@@jeromenicholson743 Dead or Alive doesn't do Hayate's character justice. If there is a Ninja Gaiden 4, Hayate needs to be featured as a major character where his abilities can be showcased. If the Hayabusa Clan and the Mugen Tenshin Clan are allies then we really need to be convinced why they are valuable allies.

Really enjoyed this DOA take.👍Also, incase people didn’t know; in DOA5, Ryu & Hayate’s encounter, (where they trained) often gets mistaken and actually has some meaningful context prior, that ties into story of the two Master Ninjas specifically. To simply summarize for those who aren’t aware, Ryu’s focus wasn’t to fight Hayate, with the intention of settling things through that encounter, this often gets taken out of context. Ryu’s purpose for their meeting was to simply to help his best friend Hayate, learn from the same mistake; Ryu himself had made, in his past when he lost against Doku. (In the past, Ryu became angry when his village was attacked as well, so their training was nothing serious unfortunately) Ryu did this by taunting Hayate (as shown) similar to how Raidou did, in order to test, and see if he could stir up Hayate’s emotions that caused him to not fight with a level head, and not fight as he normally would. Which ends up happening (as shown.) This provokes Hayate to train with Ryu solely on emotion rather than, with a leveled head after being taunted about his family. This is why Ryu’s attitude changes at the end of their exchange and he gives his best friend Hayate a reminder “to control his emotions” in battle, which Hayate learns from and uses for defeating Raidou. According to the lore Ryu was simply speaking from experience and from mutual understanding on what they both went through. Ryu understood that strength wasn’t Hayate’s issue and (like himself) no matter how strong one becomes, for a ninja controlling one’s emotions is essential, especially since both are Master Ninja and head of the clan now.

As much as I love the DOA series (Seriously, they are by far my favorite fighting games), it's a shame how much it's been criticized just for having attractive women, and it's made TECMO mostly abandon the series. It's also a shame though how greedy and anti-consumer TECMO got with the series after Itagaki left. DOA 1-4 were complete games, and had no cosmetic DLCs. Meanwhile DOA5 and 6 have actual thousands of dollars of overpriced DLC. Also, I laughed about your comments about Honoka's MILK shirt, but they knew what they were doing. This is one of my favorite videos of all time. It's a comfort video for me. The humor is top tier, the music and edits are chef's kiss and everytime OUR BOI RYUU HAiYABUSA comes on screen I get a rush despite only learning about ninja gaiden after watching this video and then watching all your other videos. Thank you.

Thank you for the video!! I never ever looked at the series outside the controversy and I am now a passing fan of the series I cannot wait to see what happens in DOA7! Also I am holding you to the doing the beach volleyball games I was waiting for them to show up in this video! I want to know more about those!

I love this rant about the cabbage seed. I remember playing that part when I was a kid and just being so utterly confused as to why these two women, these two seemingly reasonable human beings, would be fighting so viciously over edible leaves

Holy fucking shit, im glad that you know how to structure a video into chapters, allowing me to take breaks in between games. And seeing ryu battle a spartan hand to hand in space is the most shit tier post to witness back in 2005, wtf i love it.

i'm so happy this video exists! there is so little DOA content out there, so a through timeline of all the games is really nice. you made me laugh so many times and you're very detailed when it comes to explaining the story--i appreciate that! i wish more people made DOA content or are inspired to after seeing this video. i made sure to give it a like to hopefully boost the algorithm. thanks for all your hard work with putting this thing together! (s/b: the alpha-152 fight at the end of DOA 4 is so brutal. i would either mop the floor with her ass or have to replay it 185,664,409,475 times before beating her.)

Extreme beach volleyball has a canonical lore reason to exist? How have I never known this crucial in formation?!?
@cnhnx11 ай бұрын
Hulk Hogan is stage name, not the guy's birth name. Could be the same for Bass Armstrong, with Tina following the pattern. Or Itagaki cluelessly thought "Bass" is cool American name, we had character named "Fame" Douglas in the story anyway.
@AntzemEmnza11 ай бұрын
Itagaki probably got his naming ideas from SNK, the company with a famous villain named "Geese" Howard.

It is to me, I refuse to accept the retcon! It also fucks with Ayane winning the third tournament. I choose to view Dimensions/5/6 as a new timeline.

Ryu didn't have a merchant to buy all his loot, so he open his on shop. "Dont horry this statue LITERALLY FROM HELL is not cursed ... not anymore." "I can give you a discount in this unique evil ninja sword, one of a kind" after selling proceds to replace with a EXATLY SAME MODEL of that he took from a wharehouse full of them.
