I just had a similar experience. Bass Pro had them at $369 but Costco had them at $229. I was on the fence about paying for the XL or the oven, but I got this one and don't regret it one bit. It'll still cook a whole chicken just fine. I completely ignore the Ninja cooking guide. CJ has been right on the money so far.

Here's my #1 tip for grilling: Since it's way too inefficient to wait for the pellet ignition and pre-heating to finish before adding the food, I add it right from the beginning, so the food is exposed to as much smoke as possible and it can start cooking during the pre-heat. I've made burgers that turned out perfectly (if anything, a bit overcooked) before the pre-heat had even finished. Waiting for the ignition and pre-heating to finish before adding the food wastes valuable smoke-infusion time, IMO. My strategy has been working well with burgers and steaks so far, and I can definitely tell the difference in smoke flavor compared with waiting to add them after the pre-heat. Anyway, to each their own, but that's my 2 cents.

Just purchased this and on the first night I smoked 2 1' ribeyes to 10 deg below target. Let them rest while I prepped the rest of my meal. Grilled baby broccoli and baked potatoes in an airfryer. Grilled the ribeye Rare and Med Rare. Smoking made the fat weird and THB they were too smoky. A good FUN lesson to learn. Looking forward to learning from you, CJ!

I've had my Wood Fire Grill now for about three weeks, and I'm loving it. My husband actually used it first, smoking a Boston Butt (he's a Traeger guy. :) The result was pretty fabulous. The BEST tip I gleaned from your videos is how it's possible to cook with the lid up. I searched everywhere to find how to best use the griddle, and didn't find anything at all, even on the Ninja website. Thanks, CJ. I'm looking forward to many hours of fabulous food on my Wood Fire!

Thank you for your great content. My # 1 tip is to purchase the Ninja Flat Top Griddle Plate accessory !!! The reason why is because of the SUPER EASY clean up. If you are not grilling, but smoking, air frying, roasting, etc. (and not need grill marks) the flat top griddle is so easy to clean the smooth surface. I use a simple wire baking rack to keep the protein off of the heat of the flat top, and let the drippings etc. just drop onto the surface which wipes / rinses off easily and not have to contend with the regular grill plates peaks and valleys. I use my Ninja grill about 3 or 4 times a week and the easy clean up between uses makes it a pleasure. So far so good that I have no scratches from the simple wire baking rack resting on the tough nonstick surface.

I just set my woodfire grill up over the weekend & I've used it a few times now. One thing I have noticed is the food is getting really dark. I thought I would go by the recipes in the book, to get used to using it & then start using my own. But going by their "guide" you smoke a whole chicken at 375...I haven't seen heat that high in any smoking recipe & I was really surprised. But, I did it anyway, & yes, after only 30 minutes, it was a very dark bird. But now I've listened to your video & the first thing you suggested is to toss their recipe book aside & that's exactly what I'm doing. Thanks CJ for all the tips, I will forever listen to you & not Ninja! Lol :)

I've just placed my brisket on based off your previous video. Fingers crossed. Tip for northern users. I kept my pellets outside in Temps below 40 degrees. I thought my grill was broken because they wouldn't ignite. After measuring, I placed them in a glass bowl, microwaved for 30 seconds and the problem was solved. Side note, dehydrate with smoke makes a great smoked cheese. Not many videos on this but I parlayed wood smoker recipes for use with this grill and it came out very well. 1hr was more than enough smoke. Enjoy the grill.

I was shopping around for a gas grill to do out doors (I eat a lot of steaks) when I saw commercials for the Ninja WoodFire Grill. 1st intent was to cook outside, with the wood pellet hopper you have too ... Now I may be wrong, but since it's electric, If you Don't engage the WoodFire Pellet function, couldn't it be used indoors like a big olde George Foreman Grill? And the Air fryer function has to be safe to use inside. ... rite?

I started using charcoal pellets last week. No luck at all using Ninja pellets; acrid creosote covered food. 2 out of 3 cooks so far were successes, the failure was too smokey. These are Macleans brand pellets from HD in Canada. Looking at the pellets there seems to be some raw wood mixed in as they are not completely black. Good flavor when theres not too much of it. I may be putting the protein in too early as I never see a guideline on that beyond 'when the white smoke goes away'. Mine seems to be white smoke untill all pellets are burned to ash.

My wife bought me one for Xmas. I’m enjoying your videos for tips and tricks. I usually smoke my meat on the ninja 80% or 90% of the way and then finish it on the grill to get some grill marks on it.

I didn’t see any of the links. I’m new. I heard the link is below but didn’t see where. I’d like to order the thermometer you recommended and wanted to use your link.

Great tips and tricks CJ! I really got a lot of information on this video. Much appreciated. I too use half of the pellet in quick cooks and always let the pellets go through that initial burn. I learned my mistake te first cook. Cheers brother!

The XL is out. Someone needs to review it! Of course at its current price, I could buy a bigger pellet grill.

Just ordered ours and bought a temp probe too. I’ve got a pork shoulder in my fridge for Sunday so thinking of braving it on the wood fire instead of the slow cooker 🫣 slowly working my way through all your videos 👍🏼

Cooked my first pork loin roast with baking potatoes. Coked for one hour with a probe. It was amazing. Have fun❤️🇨🇦

Compared to the Weber Lumin grills, which do you think is better for cooking steaks and hamburgers?
@CookingWithCJ9 ай бұрын
I’ve never used the Weber, so I’m partial to the Woodfire grill.

Thanks. I just purchased the grill and will be watching your videos. QUESTION: Can you cook 2 different meats at 1 time? Its just me and my wife. We might want to cook a small pork tenderloin roast and a small briskit at same time. Thanks for your input.
@CookingWithCJ Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks! Yes you can, just need to keep an eye on the cooks. Pork cooks differently from like a brisket.

Hey I bought one of those George Foreman 8-1 grills for my cabin. Neat machine for cheap. Was wondering if you thought there might be a way to hack it so I could burn/smoke pellets?
@CookingWithCJ Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure, I don’t have any Foreman grills.

Does it smoke really bad or can you use one in a wood summerhouse / shed / man cave 🤔
@CookingWithCJ Жыл бұрын
The smoke it’s pretty heavy while it’s going through the ignition process. Otherwise it’s pretty consistent as it cooks. I’d still want some ventilation in there.

Does the extension cord for your Ninja outdoor grill or oven get hot? Trying to find out if it’s normal mine gets pretty hot.
@CookingWithCJ Жыл бұрын
No mine doesn't.
@budbedwell6 ай бұрын
Use a shorter extension cord or a heavier gauge cord.
