Dear Mr Ninja Thanks for your most educational presentation of Ear problems and hearing systems. I am 87 years of life and facing some hearing problem. However it’s most educative system of your explanations anyone can understand the functionality of the ear. I’m sure to follow the tips you explained in the video. In the next 2 years I will report you that I have no hearing problems. Sucha Singh

*external ear* 1-auricle(pinna) covers with stratified squamous epithelial tissue to resist against abrasion and underneath that epithelium tissue it's formed of elastic cartilage being able to stretch and recoil 2-external acoustic meatus is a bony canal and it's covered by stratified squamous epithelium and there is ceruminous glands which produce ear wax preventing entry of insects and debris via it -cranial nerve 5 gives auricular temporal branch which gives sensory supply to skin of the++ external ear pinnea and acoustic meatus *middle ear* 1-the tympanic membrane(ear drum) separates the outer ear from the middle ear and it's made of 2components a-pars tensa irregular dense connective tissue //b-pars flaccida loose connective tissue(areolar ct)..if you use the q tip far away from the external ear you may puncture the tympanic membrane causing increase in ear pressure 2-ear ossicles:- a-malleous,,there is a muscle connected to lower part of the malleous called tensor tympani which tenses up the tympanic membrane and innverted by the mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve and when this muscle contracts it pulls the malleous medially away from the typmanic memb b-incus c-stapes..the facial motor fibers innervate the stapedius muscle,,The stapedius muscle is connected to the stapes. It contracts in response to an intense sound, stiffening the three auditory ossicles, thus reducing the intensity of the sound. This reflex, known as acoustic reflex, contributes to protecting the delicate inner ear from acoustic damage. -what happens is the sound waves are hitting the tympanic membrane and vibrate the ossicles of the middle ear and tapping each other until stapes tapes on the oval window,,,,,,,,the oval window will create fluid filled vibrations within the cochlea which will get converted into action potentials sent by the cochlear nerve to the brain stem so you can hear that sound## -Chorda tympani is a branch of the facial nerve that carries gustatory (taste) sensory innervation from the front of the tongue and parasympathetic (secretomotor) innervation to the submandibular and sublingual salivary glands. -The cochlear promontory is the name given to the bone that overlies the basal turn of the cochlea protruding into the middle ear cavity, separating the middle ear from inner ear ,that cochlear promontory is important as there is nerves runs across called the tympanic plexus which formed of parasympatic glossopharyngeal nerve fibers and sympathetic fibers of caroticotympanic nerves -cranial nerve 7,9,10 supply,,cn 10 gives supply to the actual tympanic membrane while cn9 gives supply to the inner part of the tympanic membrane ....cn7 gives supply to external acoustic meatus and tympanic membrane

-The tensor tympani acts to damp the noise produced by chewing. When tensed, the muscle pulls the malleus medially, tensing the tympanic membrane and damping vibration in the ear ossicles and thereby reducing the perceived amplitude of sounds.this muscle is tensed by the trigeminal nerve'smandibular branch -The eustachian tube (pharyngotympanic tube) connects the middle ear with the nasopharynx....... It aerates the middle ear system and clears mucus from the middle ear into the nasopharynx#### and it can equalize the pressure bet the atmosphere+middle ear via air coming out from eustach tube to the nasopharynx or reverse -Mastoiditis:-mastoid sinus can extend to the brain and affect lots of cranial nerves so if it doesn't drain into the nasal cavity it may drain into the middle ear -superior part of middle ear box is made of tegman tympani which is a very thin bone and if someone develops otitis media(middle ear infection) it can spread upwards to the tegman tympani and to the brain causing meningitis## -tensor val palatine tenses the soft palate and by doing so, assists the levator veli palatini in elevating the palate to occlude and prevent entry of food into the nasopharynx during swallowing,,may help equalize pp
