I would love to see a Confrontation mini painting video. There are tons of *insert new model here* painting videos, but seeing 20+ years old Rakham miniatures competing against the new stuff would be fun. Maybe even do a comparison. Paint a Rackham and a modern GW Mini and tell us, what you liked painting, where there any problems and such things.

Agreed. Such an amazing range ahead of its time in sculpting, still have a load in my cupboard somewhere along with a bunch in my painted cabinet. And some of these minis absolutely hold up to the modern sculpts too. (I am not a fan of metal minis any more though)

I don't know if anyone else has commented on this, but the Warhound Titan pictured in your video at 2:50 is actually a Lucius Pattern Warhound Titan. You can tell from it's more angular, boxy shape compared to the smoother, rounder Mars-pattern that you usually see. That particular pattern of Warhound is long out of production and is pretty damn rare and hard to find these days. If you can get your hands on that for less than the price of a new one from ForgeWorld, you *absolutely should* because it's worth a LOT more than that in raw resale $$$$. But, of course, a video of you painting this pattern of Titan would be absolutely priceless in nerd cred, so you know what ya gotta do.

I was going to point this out, you are definitely correct and if he painted it up and resold it, he could easily make enough money to possibly buy a Reaver Titan... He should make it a series at that point. Buy, assemble paint warhound, sell it to buy a reaver. Buy, assemble, paint reaver, sell it to buy a warbringer. Buy, assemble, painter warbringer, sell it to buy a warlord. LOL

As someone who really enjoys the Death Guard lore it would be really cool to see that Dark Imperium half painted up in a cool thematic way. Maybe swamp, desert, undersea or some other environmental theme. Alternatively you could just showcase some painting techniques such as weathering, oil washes, grimes etc. Since you already have a Death Guard army maybe you could plan to donate the new Death Guard project to a charity auction. Would be amazing for you to take a $15 investment and turn it into a couple hundred dollars for a good cause!

In all honesty. If you're just looking to find some kind of project for the Confrontation minis, you do this full time now. It doesn't necessarily have to be a specific project, you can just paint the minis and show us your techniques and process cause having more than one video describing generally how you go through different minis is more helpful than just one video on a particular method. Cause they are cool models and I bet they will look great with your oil magic.

To add to your intro: I organized a multi table mega battle at my local store (GMI Games and Collectible in Riverside CA.) For context, we used to run giant scale games pretty regularly about 10 years ago. But a lot of the old crew started families and we just did occasional tourney when we could. when I say giant games, I mean 20+ player games in pre 8th edition scales of 100,000 point games and more. I began to miss those games and started updating an Mega Battle game we called Island Hopper. each and could influence other tables by firing to them, if your weapon had range, or have reserve from your table be diverted to other tables. It had been an extremely popular game in the past. But during the preparation work, out friends, no our family Robert and Catherine Walker, the store owners past due to the Vid. As tragic as is was during the services, all of us came together, and we truly discovered how much of a community that was forge by them. After not much convincing, the new owner, their youngest son, and one of my dearest friends agreed then the game must go on, if nothing more then to keep their memory alive. Then game drew in 13 players, and quite a few onlookers. Also had our photographer Friend take time between turn to shoot the event. Think they are still be organized for there site. On a side note, I had a female Commissar and a tech-priest named after my friend. That was their last game. They are going to be interred into a diorama that will find a place at the store. Hope that will help inspire other

Hey Jon, I’d love to learn more about the “styles” of mini painting. Being relatively new to the hobby i have no idea what people mean when they say they’re using a “grimdark’ style or the “GW” style… and I’m sure that I’ve heard of people referring to other styles that i cant recall because i don’t know what they mean. It would be super helpful have a “style catalogue” type video where the technique is discussed and the results are compared. Thanks Man!

When people say grimdark, theyre basically saying make the miniature look as lifelike as possible, simulated paint chipping, very muted colors, even blood splatter effects. Make it look like it's been lived in a Grim and Dark world. GW style I believe is Synonymous with 'Eavy Metal style, which if you don't know, Eavy Metal is the name of the in house GW team that paints all the minis for the Boxes and covers. The style is meticulous and there is almost 0 margin for errors. It's also super inefficient for painting large armys due to how much detail you must put into each miniature

I typically enjoy the simple videos of just building or painting something just because the most. Even if you're not explicitly trying to teach, but just explaining your methods while showing the process can help immensely with inspiration. However, if you want a more themed video idea, I think a video (or short series, since there's so much diversity in the army,) about painting the deathguard minis sounds most appealing to me, culminated with an army showcase alongside the stuff you already have.
@byrond10962 жыл бұрын
Great video, Jon! I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos so pick whatever gets you pumped. That being said, I’d love to see more of the non-GW minis mixed in like what you picked up at the end of this video. I liked the 3d printed vampire that you modified a few videos ago, the 3d dragon that you did awhile ago and some of those other 3d print projects because they were interesting sculpts/conversions and highlighted a company I knew nothing about. I’d also enjoy if you’d paint some of the recent Infinity models and show off your take on cyberpunk/manga too.

Would be pretty cool to see a diorama with the Death Guard. A fully laid out scene or something like that. Would love to see what kinda story you would tell with a project like that.

All those confrontation minis look really sweet. Some painting videos on those would be cool. Especially the Goobs showdown

I’d say you definitely struck gold! Confrontation is what got me into mini painting too. I’d love to see you paint some of then.

Build a grotesque nurgle conversion using ONLY the sprues from the starter box. (Plus whatever glues/barks/putty you might bring!)

Sadly enough I was getting excited about future video possibilities even before the call to action 😂 1 - obviously get the warhound titan, paint it up and then if you don't have room post it to me in the UK! 🤣 2 - I want you to kit bash those elves and the pieces as creatively as possible. Show us how you do your kitbashing. 3-speed paint death guard, they're made for it surely? Dry brush an army? Guess you've already done the streaking grime army style. 4-show us more of them cool 00's minis and how you would paint them now. Most importantly: a paint off against Brent! Any content with the goobs is good content!

Paint that Kyrus the Somber. If it's one of your favorite models, challenge Brent at Goobertown to a paint-off!

I remember when Rackham stopped making the metal confrontation miniatures. Many of the miniature shops online were trying to liquidate their stock and were offering the minis for up to 70% off! I stocked up.

What's better than old Confrontation minis? They stand well, even over time. I started a Frostgrave warband using some of the Dirz and Drunes Minis. First step into some kind of grisaille, inspired by Marco. If you got Wolfen or Dirz give them a try.

Your limited edition confrontation model that you're full of nostalgia for, paint it using only oil paints. NMM, fine details, blending etc. I think it would be a good video and an ace learning experience for both the viewers and yourself! ✌️

10:55 and my reaction was Oooh, Confrontation for 80 bucks? A steal, almost! Can't wait to see you paint them.

You know Ninjon it would be a nice idea to explain the difference between painting a plastic mini, resin mini and metal mini. I just feel like those all take paint differently.

*Vancouver/Richmond British Columbia area* : Imperial Hobbies has pretty much everything for gaming, model kits and comics and decent prices. Connection Games & Hobbies is where the local Infinity community hangs out twice a week and I hear is the place to go for MtG. Strategies is the warhammer hangout and is a very pretty store.
