I'll be completely honest, the only 3DS games I bought this year were Miitopia and Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions. I do truly feel that the 3DS is on it's way out. It had a good run though, and both games I played were very fun :D

I firmly believe that the biggest problem with USUM is that its two games. If it was one game I'd have pretty much no problems with it. If you want everything USUM has to offer you need both. Even if the differences are minor, they're still there. The game has no reason to be 2 versions. I'm not to mad about the Plot because we got an really good story in SM, so having the same story with minor changes would have made USUM feel very similar to SM if not the same thing. Rather, I'm happy that they fixed the gameplay aspect than focus on having the same level of story quality of SM.

Olimar103 this is pretty much how I feel on the subject. Crystal, Emerald and Platinum felt like 'best' versions, having both Ultra Sun AND Ultra Moon kind of weakened that.

Sad Atlus was not mentioned at all in the 3DS discussion. They are my favorite developers and they reaaaaaally love the 3DS, like too much, half of my 3DS collection is just Atlus games. This year they released Etrian Odysse V (One of my top 5 games this year) and they will release a port of Radiant Historia and SMT Strange Journey NEXT YEAR. Also, Etrian Mystery dungeon 2 might be brought to the west, who knows, and we have *one* Persona Q 2 teaser image, I can't imagine Etrian Odyssey (and Persona Q) in any other plataform but the 3DS. I really don't know what Atlus has with the 3DS but I hope that they will give the Switch the same amout of love in the future. We are already geting SMTV, who knows what's in the future! (I personally want a Digital Devil Saga 1 + 2 remake with Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE gameplay and Devil Survivor 3, please Atlus?)

It wouldn't work. It was designed for the 3DS in mind and the bottom screen was extremely handy. The Switch and 3DS were confirmed to have different experiences than one another Nintendo said back when the Switch launched

I think that style of animation and storytelling would work out really well for a Super Mario movie. Not all of Aardman's work is great, but some of it is, and it's all at least good. It would at the very least be visually stylish. It would certainly sound more promising than Illumination. Even if Nintendo makes sure the story is good, I can't imagine we'll be getting anything particularly visually interesting out of Illumination. It's even more disheartening knowing Illumination's track record. Derrick was way too generously dismissive: _"they have some good and some bad, like any studio."_ More like they have one decent movie, and the rest borderline-suck.

Graphomite definetly have to agree, Aardman is not perfect but they are full of visual personallity. Illumination is not very good visually are meh, their cgi sucks, their movies really lack cohesive plots feel forces and never allow proper conflicts. I would've even prefered sony because at least they understand visuals but after the emoji movie i lost hope in sony animation.

I will say as a mobile gamer, FEH has been my favorite mobile game of all time. The fanservice (both) is excellent, the gameplay is simple, quick, and at times strategic, and the meta itself keeps updating (Skill Inheritance, Weapon Refinery, Merging, etc.) No mobile game I’ve played has performed better than FEH does

It's interesting to consider the pokemom virtual console releases and the transferring to newer games and their bank system.You've also got how the switch can use game cube support and potential download able cube games. Imagine pokemon colossuem and box coming to switch. Imagine potential gba adaptersupport too. The bank system could have so many options when it comes to old pokemon titles but also interaction with a 3ds

I have the Switch and I love it, but I am out of big games to play. I mean I play Mario Kart, and Splatoon a lot, but single player games I am done with the big ones, so I bought the New Nintendo 2DS XL, just to take advantage of that massive back catalogue of games, and to get me hyped for Smash Bros coming to Switch, so I bought Smash for 3DS. Switch is my main portable, but I have really enjoyed playing some of these 3DS games, and there are a ton of them.

Nintendo also published Monster Hunter Stories outside of Japan on the 3DS this year. Also Etrian Odessey 5 came out in North America and Europe this year. And Fire Emblem Warriors has outsold Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires and Extreme Legends already at retail. It's a big hit for a Warriors game. Whereas Hyrule Warriors is the 5th highest selling Warriors game ever at retail.

I'd say the reason why there is no Virtual Console on Switch is the online service. The release of the VC seems to be connected to the online service. I don't mean the purchase of the games but the VC in general. When you subscribe to the service you'll get a NES or SNES game each month. So it wouldn't make sense to release the VC before that. Because people would then complain about getting Super Mario World for "free" when they already bought it weeks ago (if the VC would launch first). That's why people should not be happy about the paid online service being not out yet.

I have got 3 amiibo this Christmas being the Mario Odyssey Mario, the Link Archer and the Guardian amiibo's. I could've gotten a bunch more such the champions amiibo, and the Koopa Troopa/Goomba amiibo, but I didn't. But I got a bunch of Nintendo themed clothing, and most wanted Super Mario Odyssey with a Super Mario Odyssey themed carrying case for my Switch. As this year comes to a close, I'm glad I have got a Switch at the end of August, with The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. I also have got The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass for Christmas. So another excellent year in the books, minus getting Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon and the original Sun, (since I already had Moon), and the immensely popular SNES Classic. Hoping next year will be better as we have Kirby, Yoshi and Pokémon to look forward to!

As far as Hollywood is concerned, both times my friends and I went on the studio tour](once in the summer and in late november this year) the tour guide mentioned that they were planning on taking down unused studios to make room for Super Nintendo World and there was a lot of construction starting up at the park so i'm sure we'll get it as well. The LA location will probably be the last to get though unfortunately. I know its not really official but hey, some hope is better than nothing lol.

How does USUM bring back the 3rd version? How could you say that? It's basically S&M2. That's not the same as a third version. BW2 did it, platinum was the last 3rd version.

TeaRzOfTheFalleN USUM are pretty much 3rd versions. There isn’t any passing of time between the original sun and moon and USUM. And the story is mostly the same you even play as the same character. BW2 is a true sequel it takes place two years after the original BW. Towns have changed and characters have aged and you play as a new protagonist.

I would give Nintendo a B+. Overall, this has been a strong comeback year for Nintendo. Also, I think this year more than others, Nintendo listened to fan feedback. The Switch is region free, we have on screen notifications on the Switch, they're bringing back the NES classic, they increased the cord length of the SNES classic controllers, Star Fox 2 got an official release, Splatoon 2 has voice chat, they updated the app, Breath of the Wild broke series conventions, Super Mario Odyssey went back to Super Mario 64's roots, Arms is a new IP, Samus is back with two new games are just some of the examples. They would earn an A if it wasn't for controller / dock issues and the fact that there are too many missing features on the system. I thought the Switch would have an internet browser, KZbin app, Netflix, Amazon Video, an activity log, themes, folders, messaging system, eShop music and virtual console by now.

They’re not giving the 3DS enough credit (like a lot of people) which saddens me. The 3DS had far more exclusives than the Switch and yet they’re acting as if it got sloppy seconds. Three Mario games, Metroid, Pikmin, a main Pokémon, two Fire Emblems, two new IP, Miitopia, Two Kirby games (or one and a half) and a load of exclusives like Yokai Watch, MonHun Stories, and Lady Layton. Far from poor or even mediocre support.

Red Knight Except they WERE sloppy seconds. 2 of the 3 Mario games were terrible rehashes of series that have been much better in the past. The other was a remake of a spinoff. I don't even know what 2 Kirby games you're talking about, but the only one I remember was Battle Royale. A spinoff. Pikmin? A spinoff. Don't get me wrong, I had a lot of fun with my 3ds this year. Pokemon was good. Despite me already saying that Superstar Saga was just a spinoff, I really love the Mario and Luigi series. But my point was that, yes, most of what came out on the 3ds clearly wasn't meant to be a huge hitter, and compared to all the phenomenal main line games that have come out/are coming out on the switch, the 3ds really did just get the seconds this year.

@Spookii The Kirby game his referring to are Blowout Blast and Team Kirby Clash Deluxe which are not full Kirby games, they are just expansions of the Planet Robobot mini-games (they are fun small games tho) I agree with the Mario one you mentioned but the games, the ports and the spin-offs that the 3ds got are not sloppy in the slightest, at least the majority of them are not.

It's kinda funny how despite it being Kirby's 25th birthday this year, he only got 2 mini game tier games on the 3DS and yet a bunch of people complained about him getting "too many games", and yet Fire Emblem got just as many full tier games and yet no one cared. I think you're selling mobile short. Saying it's just kinda there. Remix 10 is my favorite version of Mario Run, by far, and got me hooked onto it more than when the app came out. I could care less about getting Daisy, but the rapid, fast paced levels are really fun. You should really try it Andre. I'm not at all a FE fan but I downloaded and still play FEH. I agree they give out so many orbs, which I save for the special pulls to get the better characters. But it made me a fan when I had zero interest before. And Pocket Camp is great. They're continuing to build upon it and update it to make it better. But they would never want it to be exactly like one of their other games because then people would stop playing it and say why should i play this mobile game if I can get the same thing on a console. But as a member of a few pocket camp groups, I have seen so many people say this was their introduction to animal crossing and they liked it so much they're going to pick up new leaf. I love seeing that. And final note, Miitopia is fun. Shoving your friends or famous people into the roles in a quick RPG style was fun for me. Sorry it didn't appeal to you but i played both demos first of Miitopia and ever oasis. I loved and wanted more of Miitopia and ever oasis did nothing for me. I picked up Miitopia day one and played the hell out of it, which got my nephew to buy it about a month later when he saved up money for it. You guys might see it as a meh game but it was really fun and charming.
