With Nintendo shutting down services for the 3DS and Wii U, is the Nintendo 2DS still worth it in 2024?

The 2DS was such an underrated console. I got the same color for under $40 last year and while I use my New 3DS XL a lot more, I still love having this in my collection.

hey TU! Yeah it's such a unique and unexpected offering from Nintendo. The XL model absolutely slaps but the 2DS still has that charm to it.

Modded my 2DS a few weeks ago and it's genuinely amazing. You get so many options for a really good price and a super comfy form factor

true, since it's "taller" than the bottom half of a regular/XL 3DS it's rather comfortable.

Honestly, I've always been a huge fan of the 2DS even though I've never owned one myself. A friend of mine had one, and even though I at the time had a Mario & Luigi Dream Team 3DS XL, I was still super enamored with the design of the 2DS. Every time I see one, I can't help but still feel the amazement and wonder I did when I was younger. Now that I'm an adult, I may just have to get one for myself and add it to my collection! Thanks for making this video and helping me reminisce about my childhood!

I loved my 2DS so much but I just had to replace it a couple days ago. Attempting to clean between the touch screen plastic and the screen unit, I tore the ribbon cables... Bought a New 3DS to replace it. Going to regret that probably but oh well!

I love the 2ds when i first saw it it looked so weird cuz it couldnt fold but when i got it that was the best decision ever its so comfortable 2ds over 3ds all day

The 2ds and gameboy advance share one thing in common there both wonderfully ergonomic and dont cramp your hands unlike the 3ds and GBA sp.

If you want a really good handheld and don't want to spend a lot of money, 2DS is a fantastic handheld. It does so much.

Got mine in 2017 for $70 with MK7. I was soo broke in grad school and only had a Wii! Currently playing Chrono Trigger DS in it. My go to for most retro 2D games!

Ordered a refurbished one off amazon. Already had the red 3ds xl, but haven't had the itch to play 3ds games in recent years. Back in the day, I always wanted the 2ds, mainly how people were saying how comfortable it was. Cant wait for it come in the mail!

I still play mine all the time, a crystal blue one. I loved the return of them making more colors like the game boy colors had. I have a original nerf case on mine it's so comfortable to play in bed.

My little brother had a 2DS back when it came on and I definitely liked using it a little more than my 3DS.

I’m so fortunate to still have both the 2ds/2ds XL. That entire family of consoles and the eshop had a certain charm about them that I believe Nintendo lost sight of. One thing about the eshop that I never thought I would miss was the little 🎁 your game was stored in after it completed downloading. The Switch just doesn’t have that vibe.

Looking into getting a ds after not having one since a child playing nintendogs. 2ds seems like the Best Buy, most durable and brick looking device will definitely hold up over time compared to the folding ones. Also bought a ds lite as a backup ds to the 2ds since the 2ds can’t play gba carts

I have a Nintendo 2ds. It has a sea green with white with Mario stickers. And the only game I have on there is new Super Mario brothers 2! Currently, I am still on world 6. Still have this to this day!

Went out and bought a 2DS for the first time in August 2024 lol. I had every other form of 3DS except this one, and it's become my favourite. I don't even know why, considering the 2DS XL has much better hardware. But there's something deeply satisfying and enjoyable about playing the 2DS that just clicks with my brain in a special way

Great system. When it was being sold for 80 dollars that included a game, such as Mario Kart, I believe that it might have been the best value ever offered. Heck, back during it's heyday, a new buyer could get a 2DS and buy 5 of it's best games for it brand new for around 200 dollars. I also think the 2DS is what the 3DS should have been from the start.

I have a new 3DS xl but i also bought a 2DS wedge mario version. I really like how it feels playing it. Both of my 2ds and 3ds are modded. Its so nice to have the whole library to play.

It doesn't, that's why it's a lot cheaper than the other designs as it's just one screen, one board etc.

Hey im planning to get a 2ds soon, but bc they're not in production anymore they're all second hand so does anyone know of a place that i could get a second hand 2ds that's refurbished or smth? When ive looked on like ebay they're all pretty scratched up or dont come with a charger or stylus

Amazon is extremly high in price but if you keep checking ebay everyday you might find a good deal. I just got a 2DS zelda edition for 120$ bucks including (tax and shipping) in a pretty good condition with the stylus

So if I order one off Amazon, what do I do? Cause my mum gonna ask, what did you order, and if I say 2ds she’ll say “Why”? And I’ll be stuck, cause if I say “I wanna mod it” she’ll be like “erm nuh to the uh that’s illegal” and it’s over for me at that point. So what would I tell her it is?

Do you already own a 3ds or something and want a 2ds hence why she'd be curious to the purchase? You can probably try telling her the design is more comfortable for long-term sessions due to it being smaller and that you wanted a backup one in case something happens to the other. And also Nintendo doesn't manufacture 2ds/3ds' anymore so they'll become more expensive as time goes on.

The 2DS is objectively better than everything else that gets as much hate (or fun poked at it) as it does. It's probably the second best 3DS model - 2nd to the New 3DS XL. The New 2DS has horrible speaker placement, and I feel every other model is too small or just has weird design quirks.
