The 3DS was the most “Nintendo” feeling console ever. It had absolute classics plus NES, SNES, GB, and GBA games. Also the design was so cool and futuristic and street pass was a genius idea. Everything was perfect. The switch was great but it had no soul. Even the 3DS had a social aspect and the menu layout had so much love and customizability

The 3D effect on the New 3DS XL is absolutely THE most immersive way I've ever played games. And I got my first 3DS in 2021 lol. I'm absolutely blown away that this feature wasn't more popular back in the day. It's like the closest I've ever come to feeling like I was gaming as a kid again.

I always loved the 3D function as a kid, I'd use it all the time, as long as the systems was on the 3D slider was in use. Over the years though, I realised a vast majority of people online expressed their disdain for the 3D function with eye strains being one of the main factors. As a kid I would always hold my 3DS within a certain distance while using the 3D, it never bothered me for over a decade now. It's unfortunate too, Nintendo themselves and other developers have been caring less for the feature as the years pass. It's sad but the novelty had finally worn off, it never stopped me from using the function till this day though.

As a kid of the 90s, I totally missed the 3DS (and the DS for that matter). But I discovered it during the pandemic and I can say, with 100% confidence, it is one of the best handhelds ever. Not only does it have an amazing catalog all its own but it can play ALL those legacy handheld games.

Glad that this system was my first ever owned console as a kid. I got the original model back in 2011 right after the price cut. My original 3DS is still with me till this day... Just that I have replace the batteries. I home-brewed the system early last year so I'm hoping when I finally buy the battery online the system is still in one piece and not corroded. I can't lose all that precious data. I miss the old days when the system was young, I miss Iwata and I mostly miss my childhood.

I absolutely love this thing. I bought a red Monster Hunter Generations edition new 3DS XL two years ago (mouthful I know) and I absolutely looooove this thing. The library is great, the menu just oozes charm, it feels good to play on, the 3D is such a cool effect and honestly, there's so much to love about this. Mind you, I was a DSi kid so I completely missed out on this console. Yet I can't help but go back to it. Plus I get to play DS games on it, so the nostalgia is still there to a degree. I love that you mentioned Ship of Harkinian and especially CTGP 7 (seriously if you guys wanna play Mario Kart 7 that's THE way to play it) since they blew my mind when I learned about them

I remember beating Terraria: 3DS Edition on an OG 3DS. I kept crashing when I fought Plantera Edit: the 3D effect is also a GREAT way to figure out if you have eye misalignment. Ever since I got my NeuraLenses (specially made to correct eye misalignment) I've been able to use the 3D effect. Before then, it didn't matter if it was the New 3DS or New 3DS XL, the 3D effect would hurt my eyes to use.

The Nintendo 3DS is full of charm and personality. I find myself enjoying it much more than my Switch. Super Mario 3D land is personally one of my favorite cozy games to revisit. Congrats on that 5 star save file it's harder than it seems!

Absolutely blown away by the quality of this video, especially considering your sub count. You definitely deserve a lot more. I loved my 3ds as a kid. I definitely missed out on some core experiences like Mario Kart 7 and Animal Crossing, but god damn the experiences I had I'm never gonna forget. Smash 4, Luigi's Mansion 2, Link Between Worlds, Pokémon X, the 64 Zelda remakes, Mario 3d Land, hell I even liked the 2 Sonic Boom games. I could sit here and name the games I put a lot of time into all day Pretty much like what you said, a gaming con I went to earlier this year also had a Streetpass meetup lol, for an hour I got to relive the glory days of the 3ds. I wish the Switch had even just **some** of the charming stuff the 3ds had, like Streetpass. Big missed opportunity.

when i modded mine and started to get all the games i want, i was absolutely stunned on how easy it was to achieve such power, whats even more crazy of how customizable and how great the virtual console are. personally if you wanna play any classic game, id say get a 3ds and mod it instead of buying a switch and paying 20-60 per year on a laggy online service

Actually! Flipnote Studio 3D did have an online service, like the first flipnote on the dsi, but it was japan exclusive ':D I was always pretty sad about that since I spent a lot of time on Flipnote Hatena, but there are fan hosted servers now to still use the original flipnote studio online at least. Great video! I really love my 3Ds too it has so much more charm than the switch in terms of customization and overall experience!

I think the 3ds still had quite a few years left in it when the switch came out. I think they should have held back the switch an extra year and kept the 3ds going. I mean, don't get me wrong the switch is fine and it is portable per se, but you can't just throw it in your pocket or bag like you could with the 3ds. I took my 3ds EVERYWHERE! I have to have a specific reason to take my switch and it just seems so fragile and bulky compared to the 3ds. God I miss my 3ds.

Very very good Video. You definitely deserve more Views and subscribers. But I have one thing to mention that blew my mind. Theres not even one word lost for Pokémon! And I mean hello? For me personally the 3ds is Pokémon. Pokémon X and Y are two of the best new Pokemon Games and Pokémon Ω Ruby and α saphire are the best Pokémon Remakes ever made. So at least these two should have been mentioned. Nonetheless the Video let me relive some good childhood memories, so thank you for that. And I will definitely watch some of your other Videos

I don’t care what anyone says the 3DS/DS/Wii/WiiU, etc. are way better than the switch in my opinion, it’s so bland and boring, I wish they really put more effort into in to make it feel like there’s personality like adding some sound in the background instead of complete silence or customizing the home menu. I do play the switch from time to time but not very often. It sucks you have to pay to play online (and on every other console of course) even though back then we could play online freely. I’ll always love the 3Ds and all the previous consoles, they have a special place in my heart

although I grew up with home consoles, I have always gravitated towards handhelds. and although I had a gba and ds beforehand, the 3ds was the first system that TRULY felt like my own. I didn't have access to the internet until I got the 3ds, so it was the first time I was actually able to keep up with gaming news-I would just completely obsess over upcoming releases. whenever the new 3ds xl came out, I saved up all of my christmas money and allowance and it became the first game system I ever bought for myself. this system is so special to me

The game that Ive fallen in love most in this system was Ever Oasis. Even though my original discovery of the game was via probably the worst 3DS emulation quality you'll see, I still went through that whole thing because of its charm and its joy. Even now that I got a 3DS this year, and even though I've been going through depression and stuff so I don't play many things lately, I still boot my little Pearl Pink O3DS and just look at that animated icon for the game. And just that makes me smile.

Despite the silly naming convention, the "New" Nintendo 3DS's stable 3D was amazing. I didn't have too much trouble keeping my head in the right spot either, with the older model, but damn did the new series make it so much more useable. Still a great effect to this very day! And lastly, that's enough Virtual Boy hate for a decade geez. It was a fun, unique console in it's day and I enjoyed my time with it.

Funny story regarding the system transfer rules! I actually lost all of my original purchases and badges on my "old" 2ds by putting it on a "new" 3ds xl. The "new" console had a bad board that started going in and out of functionality a month later, and I couldn't put it back on my ole reliable "old" system. I guess I'll get my revenge with modding and a 512gb sd card, as well as replacing the motherboard 3 times becuase Ifixit keeps giving me duds haha

There's one key thing missing in this video imo: Pretendo It's a Nintendo network replacement that restores 3ds and Wii U internet functionality, allowing you to play online multiplayer and even the Miiverse. It's still not a 100% replacement but most things work

Problem is everyone on specifically youtube jumps to handhelds not because they'd find a daily use for them, but because it's the trend, and the sad truth is that modern KZbin is a business and people follow the trend. It's no secret. I jumped on the feature phone trend and got one just to find out that it's so much of a hassle for such an insignificant gadget that it isn't worth having. I can bet the youtubers that inspired me to that decision immediately reverted to their iphone pro maxes after filming. Now think about buying an almost 20yo handheld for double the usual price from all this online commercialism, on top of everything else, and you're spending hundreds of $ on trinkets you'll rarely use, while still buying a PS5 because that's what you really wanted. That said, I do find value in these handhelds and games. Relatively little, but still.
