Captain Karnage I think this year Nintendo has some good games for very different public. Starfox for nostalgic, Mario Maker for builders, Xenoblade for adrenaline players, even Mario Tenis for casuals. People heard that the mechas in Xenoblade X are called Dolls in JP, want a change when the game got to the West as it sounded too girly. Name was changed to Skells, people complained and said that they prefer Dolls. People saw that the new fire emblem game was going to be called Fire Emblem IF in JP, people complained, saying that it is the dumbest title ever created and wanted a change of name for the West. Name was changed to Fire Emblem Fates. People raged, saying that IF is better than Fates. History as repeated itself. This is why we can't have nice things!

swordmaster101 Well, who's to say. Honestly, from my perspective, Fire Emblem is still a niche series, even with Awakening giving it more attention. Nintendo said a Wii U Fire Emblem would have to sell 800,000 units to be successful. The last 2 console Fire Emblem games, Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, didn't even come close to that. I don't know if Fire Emblem is something people would buy a Wii U for. I would certainly love it if that were the case though.

I believe FE Fates will be a really good FE game, storywise. Any hardcore FE fan would know from the very beginning of the series up to Awakening, that: Main character meets avatar, bandits raid, war starts, running away from the enemy troops, time skip, get the fire emblem/get the legendary weapon, new antagonist resurrecting some evil/god/dragon/demon thing Heroes prevail. The formula on the story is the same, and too damn repetitive. This one actually has sides to choose, and the story looks more detailed. from what I know of the plot(up to around chapter 4, I've been told 5 has spoilers and 6 is the chapter you have to 'choose') it's a super good premonition with really good characters. I've heard the plot is much better than other FE games and as a FE veteran i like the new changes(stat debuffs, penalties with using better weapons, not being able to break the game nearly as easily, even they op characters have flaws, like I hear Xander is a mobile wall and hits hard at 1-2 range with his personal sword but he has speed deficiencies if you raise him normally and don't RNG abuse). It's taking everything I liked about Awakening(I liked the characters in Awakening and the art style but little else tbh) but giving it a really good plot, better than all the FE games seemingly except maybe Jugdral and the combat system looks like the best one of any I've played.(I've played FE4/6/7/8/9/10/13/I think shadow dragon is 11?)

You know, looking back on this announcement, everyone thought this game was gonna be the best FE game in the series, and ironically a lot of people hated it, but you have to understand it's hard to base a game off of 3 different storylines. If the game was just Birthright or just Revelation the story would have been changed, made longer, or have been better for our enjoyment, but knowing there were 3 different writers going off in 3 different directions meant that some parts wouldn't have made sense like a plot death like Lilith dying in Conquest to a Faceless compared to her dying to Hans in Birthright to her surviving in Revelation...

555redkid Originally, the writer wrote ONE story. It was basically about a Nohr soldier who was trying to help Nohr from the inside, much like Conquest. However, they eventually defected to Hoshido, in attempt to help Nohr that way. They then met Azura, who showed them the truth of Valla and you know the rest. The reason this game is so poor in story is because they decided to split a story into three parts, causing a lot of filler and tons of plot holes to happen.

This is really interesting because “3 games in one” is what fe3h is. Yet, it handled it pretty well, with a compelling plot and each of the three paths adding to the others, with no “good” ending which Revelation technically is.
