Just to add to this already great informational video. Once you purchase your digital game, you will always have access to redownload it from the eShop. What Nintendo is doing is only removing the ability to purchase new games, but as long as you own the game, you will be able to redonwload it at any point in time. Don't feel like to have to download every game and fill up your storage. This also goes for the Wii U.

That's actually not true You will have access to the games you bought until the shop server is shut down completely So dumping and backing up the games you bought is a must because that total shutdown could happen at any time they choose It may take years to happen but it will happen

Nintendo's official line was "for the forseeable future", not "forever". But that means basically nothing. Relying on the word of any large corporation is dangerous at the best of times, and one of NoAs employees has confirmed in an interview that there's a timeline planned out for this at Nintendo. After eshop closure, expect 1-2 years of access to redownloads at most before those go away too. So, hack it and back it... up.

Recently just booted up my 3ds to download Pokémon bank and the old Pokémon games from GBC virtual console after hearing the eshop would be going down permanently in March. Been playing Pokémon yellow again and wow is it nostalgic. Great video thou got my sub 👍🏽

I did the same and I’ve been trying to transfer my old Pokémon into the new games lol. I’ve though about downloading the original gold but I already have heart gold so I was like nvm lol.

Great video! I recently modded my 2ds XL and have NOT touched my switch oled since...the games and experience on the 3ds has yet to be matched. I downloaded so many amazing games and am super excited to play all of them! Not gonna lie...thinking about selling my Switch at this point..

If you're going to mod it and pirate games: yes definately If not: probably not, games are still somewhat expensive for the experience you'll have with them, I'd say kirby planet robot is worth £30+, amazing game, but honestly I haven't played a single other game that came close to how good that one was and I have and have tried them all

This is an amazing video. Now for the other side of Nintendo fans, modding is always a choice. Especially now that the console is pretty old modding is easier than ever. Just by watching a 20-30 minute tutorial on KZbin, you can download every single game, Update and DLC that's ever been on the Nintendo 3DS. And even some extra ported games like Super Mario 64, FNAF games, and other games that shouldn't be on your console. Since you won't be able to purchase games, you can always download them as roms. From a personal perspective, modding your 3DS device, is amazing. From custom themes, to every single game available, to everything you can think of.

If you mod the thing you can play game boy game boy colour and game boy advanced games as well as some really old console titles on it modded mine and a couple friends 3DS’s a couple years back and have been using it more than the switch especially for playing Pokémon as it can run get 1-7 mainline games except gen 3 without homebrew and can still run gen 3 with homebrew, all around amazing console

With modeling you get access to all S&S games and NES games and game, boy games, and Game Boy color, and the game boy advance

I'd actually put at least one of these on layaway in case anything important breaks on your main one. Spare parts like shoulder buttons or the Circle Pad mechanism from cannibalized devices can still be had cheaply and plentifully at this time as well. Considering how easily and completely hackable the 3DS is this is likely the best, most flexible and open handheld for mobile AAA gaming we're ever going to see. Make sure you don't lose it to something like a busted button.

@@senjucam its honestly simpler than it seems. Wouldn't follow a youtube guide though since they can be outdated. I think 3ds hacks guide website is the best bet.

@@senjucam honestly man it's one of the easiest systems to homebrew. It takes about 15 minutes to do and is super simple with the current method. Follow the 3DS hacks guide site like the other commenter mentioned and you can't go wrong. Now is the best time to do it with them closing the store

@@nightravels4028 I just homebrewed my New 3DS less than a week ago, it definitely takes more than 15 minutes (it is a time consuming process), but otherwise it is incredibly easy to do.

Yes buy them while u can especially japanese versions of the console since they are cheap and in much better condition than western 3ds’s in the secondary market. With the mods there is, you can download whatever u want

I still have my 2DS XL and still play games on it to this day. And I recently gave my gf my old 3DS XL so she can play some Pokemon and Zelda games on the go. We're both happy to share something we have in common with. The 3DS is my favorite console of all time from the game library all the way down to the features.

I still love the 3DS! My favorite game is The Legend of Zelda- Link between worlds. 3DS has what Switch does not...the Nintendo charm. The Switch feels bland and missing what made their prior consoles feel fun. Great video

I have 2 new 3ds xl and 1 new 2ds xl. I got them for 100 Canadian dollar each on Facebook market place, before Nintendo discontinued the console. Everyone should have new 2ds xl and new 3ds xl in their handheld collection. Even PSP 3000, PS VITA 1000 and 2000 is good. Best handheld now is the Steam Deck.

I wish that I could agree with you about the pricing of the 3DS being better, but I sadly just can't. The new 3DS XL, really the only one worth buying if you plan to play any games that use the D-Pad on it, is about $200 on average. Usually more. Considering the prices for these things in stores shortly before they were discontinued, they should cost less by now. Every other Nintendo handheld has followed that trend. The only reason the 3DS is different is because of 2020 and people being able to scalp them. Now everyone has just accepted those prices as the norm, when in reality they shouldn't be. Japan understands this and sells 3DS consoles for about $100 less on average. So your options are to either pay $200+ for a US model, just to most likely have it come in looking like crap, or to buy from Japan. Considering the Switch Lite is $200 brand new at your nearest Walmart, it's really hard to recommend someone to get into 3DS gaming right now. The only advantage is that not every 3DS game costs $60 like the Switch.

The 3ds family right now is the easiest and funnest consoles to mod with a strong homebrew community. And since the announced closure of the eshop/ other online features, nintendo has become far more lax about catching modded systems, so there's less chance if any of bricking your system. Many are working to archive games on the eshop as .cia files to download directly onto the 3ds home screen. If you want to continue playing 3ds games you haven't played before i highly recommend modding your console, if you are scared of bricking your childhood console; the 3ds family is very cheap right now on ebay. I bought a japan only pink 2ds for $99 with free shipping, so im sure you'll be able to find a good deal. Look up videos on how to mod your system and install CFW.
