This game came out in 1999, but it’s the sequel to the Japan only Pocket Monster which came out in 1998. It seems like Game Freak still recycles the models and animations from this game, I think even the new Pokémon Snap game reuses some animations.

That's what I always do in Pokemon Games. I like a Pokemon, I'll use it. Sometimes I might have two of the same types, but that's fine. You might need SOME strat to beat games, but I do think its really possible to beat the games with just about any Pokemon.

I know what you mean so completely. K had no idea of techniques stats etc. I only used the pokemon I thought were cool. But now I know so much more. I have pokemon stadium 2. Used massive overclock with pokemon silver cheats to get celebi and mew and did so much more. Getting pokemon to level 100 breeding moves and abilities mostly unknown. I have the rare gligar that can use earthquake. When gligar couldn't learn it until gen 3 any other way.

I didn't have brothers or sisters. But I would play with my cousins whenever I slept over at their house or they slept over at mine. I remember one time my cousin got so angry at me because I kept switching pokemon. For example when he'd send out a water type I'd switch to electric type. Or he'd send out a rock pokemon and I'd switch to a water. He was so pissed and claimed that I "cheated" when I won.

I just wish people would stop fully harping on the graphics and animations, and saying they need to be like these games in order to be good. They forget there's more going on in the main series games. @Water girl 1. SURF, not wave 2. Everyone knows that pokemon cab learn more moves than moves of it's types, game would be boring with them using only those moves, not saying that trying to guess opponents move would be too easy, and that's one of the most important things in the game 3. WTF? Of course Raichu can use surf. Check out something before you will say it next time.

This game is both graphically and technically impressive. Over a hundred Pokemon in ONE Nintendo 64 cartridge?! Voice acting for the announcer (which I can imagine has over a thousand lines depending on what each Pokemon is doing), and the moves the Pokemon do and the smooth animations following them… Man, this game is so good. Too bad in Super Smash Bros. 64, all the Pokemon besides Pikachu and Jigglypuff were pre-rendered sprites.
