Yea... BMI is a massively flawed system. By BMI measurements, incredibly fit body-builders get commonly classified as "morbidly obese" purely because of the lack of accounting for muscle mass (which weighs more than fat). It really isn't a system that should be used even as a guide anymore, since we now have the ability to measure muscle mass with a decent degree of accuracy on relatively affordable consumer-grade scales.
@Daralantan4 жыл бұрын
I always thought it was funny people got so offended over this and wanted to sue Nintendo. "Here is your BMI: ### Obese" Customer: "NINTENDO CALLED ME A FUCKING WORTHLESS FAT ASS I'M NOT FAT!!!!!!!!" It is funny for anyone that does weight lifting though. A while back I decided to just work hard on weight loss. I got down to 7% bodyfat and was still "overweight," per BMI. It's a silly thing..... Though I feel like most adults that are "obese" probably do need to be careful, as the bigger more muscular people are not really the norm. Still found it hilarious people were so horribly offended by Nintendo literally just giving them a BMI chart though.
@szeltovivarsydroxan99443 жыл бұрын
Yup, I'm 180 cm tall, and just half a year ago my weight was under 80 kg. Which means normal weight. Then I started working out again, and gained over 5 kg of muscle mass. Now I'm considered 'overweight' by BMI standards. It makes no sense.
@Daralantan2 жыл бұрын

As a 2 meter tall person I can tell you right now that BMI dosnt work for above average heights. I am not just fat, but massively obease with a 32 on that index. The ABMI scale for tall persons adjust things a little, at a score of 27. Fat but not outrageously unhealthy. I have a health condition, and take medication that causes weight gain, and as long as I stay inside the that 1 stone flux, it's currently acceptable to my Doctor. *(21.4 stones is my last weight.)

BMI measures ... erm... body mass, and that's everything in your body (water, muscle mass, body fat, skin, hair, etc.) it's not only an indicator for body fat, and that info should have been put in the game. People with a lot of muscle mass normally fall into the obesity ranges and are not necessarily fat. And btw there are BMI charts for children.

No, really no. "Solidly built" could be a euphemism for body building or athletic. Also, if you watched the video you'd see how very muscular people can show up as "obese" on a BMI. The BMI system is not well suited to gauge the health of very athletic or muscular people. And for the record, even if we were to take BMI's as gospel, the fucking Wii hardware is not well suited to give an accurate reading of someone's BMI.

The joycon failure is seriously the biggest reason I cant advice anyone to buy a switch. I've bought several joycons and all of them have started to drift within weeks. And they are SO expensive. Really feels like a scam. Not even the new releases are fixed. At best they make every game extremely frustrating to play (cant remember how many times the joycon walked me right off a cliff) and at worst totally unplayable. My cheap 3rd party controller works perfectly tho now what 6 months later? So embarrassing for Nintendo.
