Steam deck does that right now :) just got the oled one and played re4 remake. Ran great and looks incredible. Playing elden ring on it now. The steam deck is amazing, quite frankly. Nintendo shot themselves in the foot by dragging the switch out so long. I have hundreds of games for the switch, about 70ish physical. I don't see myself buying many more games for switch now that I have the steam deck. If nintendo had've not rode the switch out for so long and released a more powerful sku I likely would've bought that and not been become integrated into the steam ecosystem. Be what it do.

@@truthtruth9056 That's simply not true. The oled one i just got lasts for hours. I haven't timed it but if I had to guess it lasted like 4 hours or more playing re4 remake. Very similar to the switch playing say ToTK, honestly.

Tbh i am kinda exited as well. More so than even for Playstation stuff. A handheld/hybrid system with DLSS on board is just awesome. I expect a steamdeck performance level of performance. With DLSS on top you got a pretty neat little system. Also Nvidias API on the Switch did wonders so I think the same will happen on the Switch 2.

Developers are going to want to know when the switch 2 comes out so they can get started on the games for it if they already didn't. I could see it coming this year because around the holidays last year they were pushing out the switch we have now with all different types of skins and bundles.

A switch successor is inevitable, but not anytime soon, theres no way there going announce brand new hardware architecture, market it and release it in the same year. Where looking at bear minimum tail end of 2025, if not 2026. The switch itself is still flying of the shelves and new oled models are still being produced, theres no way they even have this thing in assembly yet.

Theses statements are so vague I don’t think we have learned much of anything from them that we didn’t know already. If these developers know anything they are probably restricted by NDAs with regards to new Nintendo hardware.

The reason jappanese devs are so exited for a switch 2 is because Sony dropped Japan hard with the ps5 and focused on western games jappanese devs had to port their games to Xbox and pc, but the biggest market in Japan os the switch. So if a switch 2 is powerful enough and as successful as the switch, jappanese devs will prioritize Nintendo over sony.

The next-gen Nintendo console will (probably) be released around late 2024/early 2025. The three things I'm worried about for the next-gen Nintendo console is Denuvo/DRM, lack of backwards compatibility, and digital only console. God, I hope the next-gen Nintendo console gets involved with backwards compatibility and cross-gen games. Also, I'm excited to become a indie game developer.

Nintendo is keeping the market they have, a console thats $300 and games that are $60-$70, playstation and xbox are $500 consoles, Nintendo knows parents have usually more than one kid so that leads to 2+ consoles instead of multiple controllers for one console, which is why they have separated controllers for switch and they will sell their games at $60-$70, if we did a survey im willing to bet most people who own a switch also own 2 or more, and also willing to bet very few people own 2 or 3 xbox xs or ps5s
